Put those TVs on mute...

Buck is the worst. I guess he is a great company man to get the "best" NFL and MLB games.  He literally has no excitement to his calls.  A guy could hit a grand slam in baseball and it's the monotone "hit hard to left field, gone".

The only time he seemed to show any emotion was when Randy Moss "fake mooned" the crowd in Green Bay and Buck thought it was worse than the holocaust, "THAT IS DISGUSTING, ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING".

He seems like a good guy IRL but I can't fugging stand listening to him.

Those maps always make me scratch my head.  I'll never understand how they decide which games are played where...

For instance, they're showing the late Fox game of AZ vs. SEA in Jacksonville, FL, Houston, TX and Nashville, TN?  What implication does that game have to the AFC South?

It's all confusing with TV rights but CBS has the double header this week. If I am not mistaken, the only late games Fox has is Detroit vs.Giants or AZ vs. Seattle. Local stuff with FOX affilates and NFL rules probably dictate why they have to show a Fox game, but not really sure. I know a lot of this CBS / Fox rules thing is going to change next year, although it will probably only make it more complicated.

I love the Buck / Aikman combo. Never understood the hate for them, but Buck is the type of guy people are going to love or hate and not many will be in the middle with him.

Read an interesting article / study on the best and worst sports announcers a couple days ago.

He's not terrible, I just think he is made for baseball games.

Joe Buck does something that absolutely creeps me out and makes me laugh in disgust at the same time...................once I explain this you may be mad with me because you will never be able to ignore it when you watch him ever again.

Now let me preference this by letting you know I was a TV host for a regional sports program on network affiliate programing for five years back up North when I lived there so I notice all this stuff when I watch announcers.........

Okay here's the deal.......

When the camera goes to Joe and Troy in the booth and they discuss the game they are covering which is usually at the start of the game or during a half time break, they will both turn and look at each other in conversation which is a norm for the situation...........

..........but during the conversation when Troy is talking to Joe..........he (Joe that is) will then time some looks where he turns his head directly towards the camera, stares and breaks into a half assed smile for just an instant like he is trying to make eye contact with you at home in your living room in an attempt to make you feel like you are included as if the conversation what taking place in your living room live and in person....................

Now when you are have a face to face live conversation with people, like in a business meeting............making eye contact with everyone is a good strategy to show attention to all parties..........but in TV broadcasting making eye contact with the camera before and after talking to someone face to face on the set is normal as well.............

But nobody and I mean nobody on TV tries to look back at the camera and flash a stupid half ass smile in the middle of someone talking to them on the set when they are not speaking.

He may think he's trying to be cute but it comes off to me like insanely creepy........or perhaps the height of condescending towards the viewer........

I could imagine if someone was stoned watching Joe do this they would get so paranoid thinking that Joe was staring at them personally.........LOL!

Now once you notice this you won't be able to ever watch this midget again without thinking about that move he does.................what a twit.

Agree to disagree regarding Mick.  Love Eugene.  But all week sirius has blurbs of other home team radio crews calling the deciding play and every week they blow Mick away.  Mick has the most vanilla, boring play by play voice of any I've heard.  He is knowledgeable but when they did the job interview was "bland" at the top of the list?

The only reason I can bear to listen is Eugene.

Eugene is passionate but an embarrassment with his command of the English language and that horse voice.......

Mick is knowledgeable but has voice and manufactured passion that belongs on  a kids instructional video.........he is awful among the very worst voices ever on the airwaves......reminds me of a high school kid hoping to be a communications major in college.

Jim is fine............

Those who think Mick has a good radio presence need to listen to Vin Scully or Bob Prince do baseball...........check out youtube on them.

Bill Rosinski (sp?) was the kind of voice you need for a play by play........

what some are embarrassed by others call "character"  :)  Maybe it's a southern thing.   I don't mind at all that he butchers a word or two and gets excited while trying to talk.  Because 9 times out of 10 when Eugene is excited I'm jumping up and down also!

Bill got shafted.  He was great.

I read that best and worse announcers article........interesting but solely based on technical presentations of the skill sets..............I'll be honest with you, there are some announcers that are horrible but that is part of their charm and entertainment...

Like big Tony on the sidelines...........he is hilarious and has that great tough guy goon voice............he can butcher the English language and sound great doing it........my favorite on the sidelines.

the worst voice I ever hear on radio was my favorite announcer (color guy)...........the late Mryon Cope who was did radio color for the Steelers...........he has so slated towards his passion for the Steelers he just forced you to like them if you listen to him call the game long enough.

NFL did a story on him you can find on youtube............
