Cam is our franchise qb.  He is our present and our future.  That was clear to me after his rookie year.

 

 

When I saw him limping around though  and the staff looking at his leg..              I was worried about Cam's long term health,  and our chances if Cam wasn't able to set hit feet,  due to an injury ,  and make the throws.    I wanted him benched.   I'm glad that the injury proved to not be that bad.      I don't know if he fought through it, if there was an injury,  but dang.   He was running on pure adrenaline.

they were all given poo when they sucked in there first couple of years.

and a lot of them had to deal with shitty o-lines and mediocre receivers.

my point was those who saw past that and saw this insanely raw athlete who has a rocket for an arm turn into what he has become today. it was believing in Cam as a person more than it was believing in him as a QB.

his ceiling hasn't been reached yet and that is scary. but that has more to do with him as a person then him as an athlete.

I watch a poo ton of cut ups come draft time (which started a few weeks ago for me) there was a cut up video of Newton running "pro style" plays while he was in Auburn. I was sold long before the video but that video was the icing on the cake for me.

How all these media guys sat there and bashed Cam, I have no idea. To be so blind, I just don't know.

Cam is an a league with Lebron and Bo Jackson IMO. He's a physical freak. When I met Cam in Minneapolis, I was in absolute shock how big he was. They always said it on TV but just wow. Dude is a shredded 250.

Nah we really have to fix that O-line. Cam was still being hit on that game winning drive, but it's due to his strength that it didn't affect him. Most other qbs throws ducks or high when they get hit like that.

I didn't want Cam during the draft, however, after we drafted him, my loyalty and faith towards him never wavered. I have never wanted him bench, I never thought he would be a bust, and I always proudly defend him when a co-worker or friends said he was a bust.

How bout that throw to Ginn on the last drive, Cam made a hell of a throw while being smacked in the face. Brees threw a fit over a lesser smack in Seattle, it didnt even phase Cam.

I think if you give Newton a good OL and at least one legit #1 WR......he would be near unstoppable.

Bottom line is he is playing behind a weak OL, despite us being loyal to the run game it doesn't aid him much, and his WRs too often don't get open. We improve the O talent and he improves.

Also people expect too much to soon from him.....he is already ahead if where tons of now elite QBs were 3 years in.

 

i don't think he would be unstoppable. but he is the future of qbs that can run.

 

he goes through his progressions and only runs when he has to a la steve young. i grew up watching steve. and cam's play...mind you not the actual athletic running or the laser throwing....reminds me of young.

 

we definitely have something very special. but i really wanted to point out how Cam doesnt rely on his athleticism to win games now and it is showing. it speaks to him more as a person than an athlete. And that is fuging scary as poo for opposing teams. because there has never been anybody like him.

I've never doubted, and I didn't even give a rip about Cam's Auburn days. Hell, I was rooting against him in the national championship (because I pay zero attention to college football and always root for the lower seeded teams.) But once he was drafted here I have been 100% on his bandwagon.

A note regarding Ron.

I wasn't wrong that he was doing a bad job in 2011 and 2012 and was mismanaging games. I was wrong that I didn't think he could turn it around, which he did. Rivera is coaching the way he said he would when he stood up in that podium, and although cam got called out for almost the entire game, Ron got criticized for punting so late in the game down by 3 points. In the end he made the right call and got the ball back. Ron played a tough game of chess with Payton, and contrary to what many people thought, he didn't give up on cam and the offense. He is now officially a winning coach for the first time in his career, and cam is a winning QB for the first time in his career.

this isn't based in reality but we definitely need to upgrade with a legitimate powerhouse WR.

 

i just hope we get into a position to draft one or sign one.

 

I want Cam to be able to make recievers better. poo he has all year spreading the ball around.

 

but it would be a luxury to have a dominant #1 force. I want that O-line built up more. hopefully we can do it all in one offseason.

some posters i respect had legitimate concerns about Cam's ability to be clutch. There were legitimate reasons.

******And on a side note i'd really like to hear from carolinarolls, MHS, or others about their opinion because they were the most vocal about Cam's lack of winning ability. It is not meant to bash but it would be nice to hear from them. Haven't seen them post in a while.

Good luck with that. MHS is around occasionally. But carolinarolls, jarhead, Swagasaurus, and more have been largely absent since October.
