Origin of Peter King's hate on Cam

Not sure if anyone posted this before. Cam wouldn't talk to him after a practice back in 2011.

Interesting but not too surprising: Just got stiffed at Panther camp by Cam Newton. Chose not to talk to me post-evening practice.

Cam hadn't even play an NFL game yet. He's been trolling Cam ever since. Pretty crazy how egotistical those sportswriters can be. It was mentioned on Firsttake how some people didn't appreciate how Peter King was trolling Cam. So it seems like that weird relationship/connection he has with Cam is not going without notice by the media. Looks like panthers' fans aren't the only ones who notice his uncanny behavior.

Pretty good read:

Dr David Dosa, a geriatrician and assistant professor at Brown University, said that five years of records showed Oscar rarely erring, sometimes proving medical staff at the New England nursing home wrong in their predictions over which patients were close to death.

The cat, now five and generally unsociable, was adopted as a kitten at the Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Providence, Rhode Island, which specialises in caring for people with severe dementia.

Dr Dosa first publicised Oscar's gift in an article in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2007. Since then, the cat has gone on to double the number of imminent deaths it has sensed and convinced the geriatrician that it is no fluke.

The tortoiseshell and white cat spends its days pacing from room to room, rarely spending any time with patients except those with just hours to live.

If kept outside the room of a dying patient, Oscar will scratch on the door trying to get in

Can understand why he was mad, especially if he was assured of an interview. I don't know why Peter King would fly down from New York to Spartanburg for Cam (who else was the national media covering in Panthers training camp in 2011?) if he wasn't promised a sitdown. Still though, guy needs to let it go.

Haven't read the article because it's old news, but the reason Cam wouldn't talk to King is because King was the guy who did the whole "entertainer and icon" thing around the draft.

Rather than provide any context as to why Newton made the comment, King chose to sensationalize it via Twitter, making Cam look like a diva.

So Cam stiffing him on an interview was entirely appropriate.

It should be noted King is the asshat that completely took the "entertainer and icon" comment out of context, and that's *possibly* why Cam wouldn't see him.

Cam ALSO refused to do interviews with a lot of people at that point, and I don't remember them all bitching.

And Bleacher Report also had their spin on it coming to the rescue of their fallen compadre.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/787092-kobe-bryant-michael-phelps-brandon-marshall-and-todays-top-sports-news/entry/111687-cam-newton-stiffing-reporters-is-just-tip-of-arrogance-iceberg

I’m sure that Peter King wrote some critical pieces on Newton’s abilities transferring over to the NFL, but who didn’t during the time leading up to the draft. That doesn't excuse his actions of stiffing a reporter.

and here is the quote where it all began. The revenge quote:

With that much spite from a team’s starting quarterback, it shows that his head is not all-in on what’s going into the on-field activities.

Yep! Cam's head is not all on the field because he didn't bow down and kiss Peter King's ass. From that time on those asshole pass that quote among their colleagues to try to undermine the reputation of Cam. This poo really had nothing to do with what happened at Auburn. This shows how much of a piece of poo those media people are.

Isn't it cute how they stick together and protect their own like the Klan?

Sportswriters, unite against this great evil called Cam!

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
