NFL Gameday Final Comparison of Goalline Playcalling

I hate to break it to everyone, but Cam called the goal line run. He said he believed he could power it in and blamed himself for letting down his coaches.

On the second series they screwed up by Wharton tripping Tolbert. Just bad plays and execution today.

Was that the 4th and goal? Or the first drive?

Deion flat out said our goal to go playcalling was horrible.

They said we had 9 plays inside of the 3 yard line and only came away with 3 points total. Inexcuseable.

Why they said it was so mind boggling, and this is what scares me about our staff the most, particularly Rivera and Shula, is that we went down there and tried to out-tough them. Why is that bad? Because it shows both stubbornness and a refusal to adjust. Marshall said we went down there and tried to "power" it in and show them we were tougher.

Then when comparing it to what the Niners did in their goal to go situations, Deion said they showed us respect. Why? Because on the final TD they scored they went shotgun, spread us out, and then ran Krapperdick out, essentially making it one on ones across the board and trusting him to beat his matchup. This is what we should've done with Cam.

And this is what made it even worse - Deion pointed out how we weren't even built for the calls we were making. Why? Because Cam is our leading rusher at 54 yards and our highest output from a RB was 20-some yards. Yet, we tried to make a statement and push them back off the line and score. Smh...

Even with all of the talent on San Fran's OL, they didn't try to power through us. They mixed things up, got us off balance, and then made a call dependent on the situation. IIRC, without looking, that was the bootleg option/pass to Davis and the. The QB sweep Florence and Keek whiffed on.

This just really troubles me about our staff going forward if it remains as-is.

They are right. I felt we tried too hard to make a were tougher than you statement and got embarrassed. I felt we needed to roll cam out and give him a receiver to throw to if he could not run it in. We would have scored td's.

Cam said, "I can get it." That doesn't translate to, "run me from directly under center and let's try to out-muscle them." He just said he could get it. It was up to the coaches to call a play to allow him to get it. By putting him under center, they gave him absolutely no options and played into the Niners' strength in the trenches.

The short yardage problems stem from not being able to block...that's it folks...if we block we can get it in with Tolbert or Cam up the middle. We got bullied in the run game all year getting stuffed for losses, yeah, we hit one or two...most most carries were 2 yards or less...inexcuseable.

so when these same guys are spewing bs about our team we make a thread on how big of idiots they are, then they say our goaline play calling sucked and we tried to out tough them and now we listen??? i don't buy it, with one yard to go tolbert up the middle every-time........no one wants to mention warton tripping tolbert......and let's be real that qb sneak Cam called it, which i like but he could have went over the top or stretch the ball out and got the td.....but didn't matter they went 3 and out and smith scored on the next possession......the next goaline cam damn near walks in, then a play action, then tolbert trips over warton...not bad play-calling.....damn sure not trying to out tough someone either........i could explain the rest but i fell it's useless..........these same guys gave us no respect but now try and stir the pot by saying stupid crap like we tried out toughing our opponent

Thought I'd bring this up and ask if anyone else saw the same thing...unfortunately I am not sure how to post gifs but there is one somewhere on the internet going around that shows Cam goal line carry where he was "stopped" by Brooks. (If anyone can post this gif it would be much appreciated. It's Cam's carry at the one shot from the goal line angle/view)

During the game while they were showing the replay from the different angles, they showed one from right down the goal line where the play was made. When Brooks makes contact, it looks as if Cam ever so quickly reaches the ball across the goal line and it breaks the white line for a brief period of time. When it happened live, I thought for sure the announcers would bring it up and show that angle again in slow motion. I was frustrated when we didn't challenge the call. Granted, it could have been one of our other linemen falling forward behind him.

After watching the gif many times over, you can see what looks to be Cam's arms and the ball break the end zone. It is dark and covered in shawdow so it is difficult to tell exactly what happened but I am actually confident in saying that it is likely Cam and the football and that's being said without homer glasses.

Here's the link:

^click the link so it opens larger in another screen and focus right on the end zone directly in front of Cam. Does that look like an arm and football breaking the plane to anyone else?

edit: Now it looks like Kalil as he is falling forward and to the ground after standing his man upright.

I'm more concerned with how our team comes out of byes...but, I guess this is part of that.

I don't know what is making our offense shaky and unpredictable in some games, but whatever it is I hope Gettleman knows and has a plan to fix it. We did a great job fixing our defense up (minus the secondary). I think it's time to put serious time in on building our offense.

Guest shitposting

The late eight minute drive, and snapping the ball with half a second left on the play clock is killing me.

Our offense is painful to watch.

    • Derrick Brown was one player I never called or even suggested was a bust . Dude was young and hadn't even hit his stride. It takes time to learn the position. The thing I appreciated about him is that he kept improving season after season. He got paid and keeps on going like the Energizer Bunny.
    • How many teams coddle their QB the way Bryce has been coddled? I have never seen any other team in the NFL EVER baby a QB the way that Bryce has been.  Bryce was named day 1 starter his first year. It was obvious he didnt deserve it. He wasnt ready as evidenced by the worst rookie year in NFL history.  So let's move to year 2. He's named starter again with no competition in TC and is benched 2 games later. We have the ghost of a backup in Dalton who is so bad he can only beat Vegas and let's remember, the only reason he lost his starting job was a car accident, not because Bryce actually beat him out in practice.  And year 3. We sign Dalton again, who already proved he couldn't be depended on to put an even remotely passable performance on the field, and bring back Jack Plummer, who was even worse than last year. It was obvious he was nothing more than a pretend body in an attempt to create an illusion of some type of attempt to find a backup.  Then we start again with garbage play again and Bryce gets benched with a phantom injury, and the ghost of the ghost of Dalton breaks his thumb on the first drive and craps the field all over again. If we had actually made an attempt to find a legitimate QB2, it's possible Bryce doesn't step on the field again. Bryce is not agood QB and if we had any other mediocre QB, our record would be the same or better.  Bryce is not entrenched. He's been placed, protected and sheltered from ever having to face a  real QB competition in TC. Richardson and Levis both were ass and both were benched and eventually replaced.  Do I expect Baker to face competition in camp? Sure. I expect Tampa to find the best QB2 they can at price that fits their cap and resources and system and get him up to speed. If he's better than Baker, and if he's better by a significant margin, that's best for the team. The ultimate goal is a Super Bowl. Bellichek was constantly getting QB2s with the GOAT as his starter. He knew the value and that was realized when Cassell led them to an 11-5 record as a backup.  You and I may think differently than the people that matter but I will say it again. If you're afraid to bring in a capable backup, especially after the debacle of last year. The starting role wasn't earned, it was given, and that's loser mentality.
    • I would have done the same thing.  LSU is a much better job than Ole Miss.  Plus the enormous contract and every advantage a college team can offer in terms of recruiting and facilities and tradition etc
