Not sure where your getting these numbers from but according to the Charlotte observer we are actually $17.8 million under the cap and expecting Godfrey to be cut 1st June will save us close to $3 million so we are about $20 mil under the cap but add to that hardy cam and 21 players to either be resigned or replaced it's hardly a lot of money. The guys going to have to work a miracle again, I've already said best way in my opinion is to go heavy offense in the draft people forget we had five picks last year this year we have seven with the beason trade, apart from nicks there's not a lot in FA at receiver so if got four possibly five draft picks at receivers and Oline and pick up two young dbs late in the draft, if he does manage to get some money left over in the cap then is go get two veteran cbs like Talib and DRC

This up coming season is DG real test... I would like to see how he improves the offense and then we can give him props for real.

Hurney Players: Cam, Luke, Kalil, Gross, Smith, Johnson, Hardy Davis, > DG: Star.

How about you add KK, Klein, White, Lester just a thought all did contribute a ton in there 1st yr

If he shows a commitment to fix the WR position in the off season then I will give him props that he has a vision for this team. If a GM can't fix a glaring weakness of a 12-4 team he has no business being a GM. There is no way a 12-4 team that played a tough schedule could have so many holes that a GM couldn't fix.

How about u stop complaining & appreciate what he has done so far. God it's hard being a fan sometime with so many dumb asses in the fan base.

20 is about right after cutting or re-working Godfrey. So much could change but it looks to pan out like so:

Resigns 15M:

Gross 4M

Hardy 5M

Mitchell 2M

Ginn 2M

Only leaves 2M for the rest

Draft 5M

FA 5M to field the team. Probably just enough to fill the 53 man roster.

As you can see we will have to hit it big again in the draft. Either that or use Hardy's 5M or so to bring in a combo of WR/Lineman from FA and resigns like Captain/Oline/Gano. I think by DGs comments, the latter is more likely

I'm not appreciating nothing(yes, double negative for emphasis). Did we win the super bowl? No. We were just a one and done team that might not make it back if we keep ignoring the offense. By the way, you didn't say what made you so brilliant and the rest "dumb asses". Next time just skip over the comments you don't like. You don't have to reply to them.

One thing Gettleman definitely seems like he will be much better at, than Hurney, is building a team that can have sustained success.  That was Hurneys biggest problem really.. Just like Gettleman said in his press conference, you cant think with emotion.  Thats what it seems like Hurney did when he gave out contracts.  Hurney got us a great core of players, but he his mindset was too year-to-year, whereas Gettleman looks further ahead.

Gettleman also does a good job at finding cheap talent...not Hurney's best area.

I know its only been one year, but for what we have to go off of, give him a ton of credit.

we're actually not that bad off:

Rank Team Cap Room

1 Cleveland Browns $24,194,764

2 Jacksonville Jaguars $20,099,666

3 Buffalo Bills $18,950,531

4 Miami Dolphins $17,802,920

5 Philadelphia Eagles $17,225,719

6 Carolina Panthers $11,637,268

gettleman has brought us a long way in a short time

Only difference is we have 21 UFA.....and a chunk of those are starters. That makes are cap situation to look okay glancing at it.....but we are in bad shape

11 million in cap room with 28 UFAs and two RFA is not a good scenario, it is very "cap challenged" as he said.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
