Talk about an impulse buy.....

Wife went into the Toyota dealership this morning to get her car serviced and the windshield wiper blade replaced....she walked out with a new minivan.

They found nearly $3k of work that needed to be done to the transmission and the steering column.  No way I was going to throw $3k into a 6 yo car.

They tend to always find things like that. I had someone tell me I needed new struts on my lexus....i just needed new tires

lol...wow. Well buying the new mini van may have been cheaper than wiper blades if it is anything like my dealership. I had some recall work done on my Lexus the other day and the guy told me one of wipers was ripped (which I knew about). Told him to go ahead throw some refills in there. Damn things cost me $50 when I went to pay my bill!!!

So, I gotta fill you guys in on the whole wife bought a new car story.

She bought the car on Friday and brought it home.  I was watching TV at about 9PM Friday night and heard her yelling in the other room.  I just assumed that she was at it with my 14 yo daughter again.  So, I came out of the bedroom to tell them both to cool it.  She was on the phone yelling something about the car.  I asked her what was wrong and she showed me an article that she printed from the internet.

It was a notice from Toyota to their dealerships (dated 2 days prior) to stop selling Siennas, Corollas, etc becuase there was a safety issue with the heated seats and the foam used in the seats....that the seats could catch on fire.

So, now I am pissed.  She also showed me the sales contract that she signed (car in her name).  They backdated the contract 5 days to Jan 26th.  So now I am really pissed.  They backdated a contract to sell a car that they were not allowed to sell.

I headed out the door at 9:30 pm heading to the dealership to raise holy hell....got there 5 min before they closed.  I was not a person they wanted in front of other customers so they shuffled me to a back office.

They made every excuse under the sun as to why the back dated contract.  First saying it was a computer glitch...then suggesting that my wife requested it to get a payment date that she wanted.  The same guy kept making the stupid suggestions.  I told him to get his ass out of the room and the GM kicked him out.  I threw out words like fraud, willful intent to to commit fraud, lawyer, and lawsuit.  I had them puckered tighter than a snare drum.

They offered to correct the contract, put my wife in a rental car, and fix the seat....which is what they were supposed to do in the first place.  I told them that would have been sufficient about 12 hours earlier.  Now, not so much.

The car comes with the 2 year service package as standared (covers oil changes, tire rotations, services, etc).  They offered the 5 year plan to me for free.  I told them that was a start.  I told them they were also giving her the 5 year extended warranty....the nav package...and the DVD package as well....for free.  They started balking, so I got up to leave...telling them the next time they would see me would be Monday morning with my attorney (my wife's brother) and Channel 9 News.  They could decide whether the lost profit from the  bad publicity from backdating a contract to sell a car on the stop sell list was worth less than the options they were going to give me.

To end the story, they caved and we got everything...about $5k worth of poo.

Oh yeah....the GM even threw in a $300 gift card to Ruth Chris Steakhouse so that I could take my wife out to a nice dinner.

The dealership with Scott Clark Toyota.
