Melvin White: Keep or cut?

I know Melvin White has a big fan that goes ny the name of Steve Smith.

During one of his appearances on WFNZ this past season, someone asked Smitty about White and Josh Norman. Smitty talked glowingly about White and attributed the late season issues to White having hit the "rookie wall" pretty hard. He further stated that White's work ethic and coachability would help him become a solid player in seasons to come.

On the topic of Josh Norman, well...

Hey this might be a bad thread, but so are all of them right now.  I do find it confusing that everyone is wanting a new starting CB, but no one wants our cbs to not start either.

It's true I botched the thread title.  Should have been more like, "is he going to be our starter next year?"  but I didn't.

Chuck your a die hard fan and all that, but you along with GreatestofalltimeCam are probably the worst thread starters on the huddle.

Dont take that offensive. Just my opinion. White was an udfa rookie who played damn well for a rookie. Why would you even think about cutting him when hes playing for peanuts.

You liked me before my post. We can still be friend. I still like you. You dont have to pretend and call me one of the "worst" poster on here just bc I disagree with you. I forgive you for that comment. ;)

Well I realized  after I  posted that it was a poor word choice on my part as far as the thread title goes.  I edited my original post for the thread.  No we shouldn't cut him cause he's dirt cheap.  The question I should have asked was should his role diminish next year and should we bring in someone else to start opposite Munnerlyn or should we keep on that side and hope for his continued progression?

Yes I still like you, was just surprised no one caught my edit.

    • Exactly He's played two seasons and started 28 games. He's well beyond the point of being able to point to 2 or 3 games and being able to say, "THAT is the QB he is and will be in the future" Of course he can get there, but anyone trying to use just those couple of games to rank his place amongst the games QB's today and their full career's worth of playing at that level, is just asinine. Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, Burrow, Hurts, Herbert, Daniels, Stafford, Goff, Geno, Purdy, Baker, Love, Dak, Tua, Kyler, Lawrence That's 17 QB's right there that have played better over their careers than Bryce has played at his best.  And I'm not saying they're all studs or guys I'd want to be our QB moving forward, Tua for example I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole, but his body of work is a million times better than Bryce's has been. It's also not including any of the other QB's drafted in 2023/2024 other than Daniels. So again, say you believe in Bryce, say you think he's going to prove he can and should be our QB of the future, that's all fair and totally fine. But nobody can say he's been an above average QB in his career thus far, it's just an asinine notion.
    • I'd think we could get one of those from Dallas for... whatever.
