Has anyone seen and watched Enders Game?

Just wondering because I've read the novel a dozen times and I wonder if the movie does the book justice.

I almost went to see at the theater and didn't... I'll Redbox it.  Book was great.  Movies never measure up.

The movie was too fast. It was paced like they were running out of clock... Effects were great, acting was better than most scifi acting. But the story was just too rushed.

The book was good. You don't get the same feelings out of the film.

Took my girlfriend's daughter to see it. She'd read all the books. She liked it pretty well.

Granted, she's a 16 year old girl. I don't think her tastes would be quite the same as yours.

We saw it - I'd never read the books and I liked it.  My 13 year old daughter had and she was disappointed that there were huge chunks left out or changed for the movie.  That still didn't stop her from enjoying the movie though.  I asked her to tell me about the differences and they did seem significant, but the movie would have needed another hour to tell the story like the book.  We actually went back to see it a second time because my husband couldn't go the first time and I thought he'd enjoy it.  May I also say that I saw it at the dollar theater.  I wouldn't have gone back to see it a second time at full price.  I'll probably buy the DVD because I think it's enjoyable enough to be in the family movie night rotation.

I was really hoping the movie would have stuck to the primary themes of the book.

GTG- I would highly recommend reading the book. It's a quick read and very powerful. Somehow it manages to be philosophical and violent, complex and romantic while still appealing to all age groups.

I read it for the first time when I was sixteen and I enjoy it just as much now that I'm in my 30's.

Book is better but the movie was good and it kept the important themes intact. All the kids did a fine job.

Like all good SciFi novels that get translated to movie scripts there is so much of the story that never makes it to the screen. 

 

If your looking for the depth and complexity of the novel then dont bother.  If you want a pretty good SciFi flick and can look past whats not there or dont know what you're missing then is definitely worth a watch.

I haven't read the book. But I did get the feeling something was missing. Overall it was alright nothing great IMO.

Yeah, it was his brother and sister taking over the world while he was in space.

Just watched it last night and I thought they did a pretty good job considering the limitations of a film being able to describe a book of that scope.

Most of the important themes were present and adequetely executed.

I think it would be a rough movie to watch if you hadn't read the book.

My complaints: (like anyone cares)

1. Ender wasn't portrayed as cold or damaged enough.

2. Peter was portrayed as the psychopath he was in the book.

3. No Locke and Demonthes take over the world subplot.

4. Didn't properly display the level of Ender's or Bean's genius.

5. A bunch of other poo now that I really start to think about it....

That being said, there is no a way a movie can measure up to a book a person has loved since adolescence.
