Cosell would take Benjamin over TAMU's Evans

NFL Films' Greg Cosell prefers Florida State WR Kelvin Benjamin to Texas A&M's Mike Evans.

"I thought that he had a little more natural quickness and athleticism than Evans," Cosell said. "I thought that Benjamin brought a lot of the same attributes to the table as Evans, but I thought he was just a little more athletic." Cosell believes Benjamin runs faster than his 40 time. "You want to see a burst when the ball is in the air," Cosell said, mentioning Jerry Rice as one example of a WR who ran a 4.6-second 40-yard dash in shorts but appeared far faster once donned in pads. Benjamin is massive, and his speed might sneak up on NFL DBs. Rotoworld's Josh Norris, for the record, likes Evans significantly more than Benjamin (No. 11 overall compared to No. 32). Feb 14 - 12:57 PM

Benjamin is a lot more risky, but I agree with Cosell that he does have that sneaky speed. That in combo with his size is what makes me want us to draft him at 28. Smitty and Proehl can work on routes with him and help him improve and discipline him. That size and speed combo is rare in the NFL. I just wish we could get a guy like Megatron who's that size and runs a 4.34 40 or whatever Johnson ran.

Speed is great, but you have to catch the ball.

I really like great hands, and there are a few WRs in this draft who have them.

The LSU boys are real good, Abbrederis drops nothing, etc.  I almost prefer the sure hands over anything else.

LaFell is annually near the top of the division in fewest drops. You can't get by on hands alone. If you're not a playmaker your hands don't matter.

really? To me it seems like Lafell drops more balls than puberty. In important situations at least.

Then you would be wrong.

LaFell is not a great playmaker, but stats say he really does drop very few balls. Hoes to show how biases can affect our view if things...not bashing you, just using it as a general example.

    • Give me Anthony Hill Jr or give me death
    • We need a Sam Off Ball Backer to pair with Lloyd. Lloyd is a strong Interior Will especially in Pass Coverage- but that is also Trevin Wallace’s archetype. Need a Rozeboom style run stopper. Rodriguez and Allen fit that
    • There aren’t that many ways to screw Day 2 up.  That’d be them making an obvious reach, or selecting at one of the few positions that we are pretty solid at. Because as excited as we are for the growth and improvement this team is showing, it’s still not an overly talented or deep roster. Honestly, there aren’t really many positions I’d feel bad about. Feelings about Bryce aside (because we are not going to select a QB), it’s really RB (bad positional value) and that’s it. I guess OT too since we grabbed Freeling in Round 1.    While not as high on my wish list as other spots, you can justify WR or TE.     Interior offensive lineman who would likely take over an interior spot either this year (at center) or guard (next for cap casualty of Hunt or Lewis)? Fine by me.   Dlineman? Yes, that’s a highly rotational position and we have zero quality depth.    ILB? Yep, could stand for an upgrade over Wallace.    EDGE? Absolutely wouldn’t hate another option to spell Phillips, Scourton, and Princely.    FS?  Would love to add better coverage skill set to the backend of the defense. Moehrig and Ransom are great in run support but not as good deep. Adding a more traditional FS would allow us to mix and match/run some 3 safety sub packages and or a big nickel type look with a SS down near the line for better run support in possible pass downs.    CB? Could stand to get better at nickel.
