Trade Hardy for?.....

First of all, I am skeptical that we would even trade Hardy. All the reports are that we're trying to work out a long term deal. If this is true, and we acquiesce to Hardy's big money theme, then Hardy has won.  If we're hellbent on keeping Hardy and he's hellbent on top dollar, then he's won. At Hardy's price and Johnson's price, I would doubt that we'd be able to keep both for more than another season. This time next year, we are more than likely going to have to choose because bull horns do lock (not to mention Cam and Luke are going to have to get paid also). Now if everyone is willing to compromise, then we may be able to make it all work, but at this point it seems like a stretch.  Hardy's mouth ain't talking that way.

All that being said, I've already been expressing a trade to the Raiders involving Hardy, Jared Veldheer and/or Denarius Moore along with some picks. If we could get Veldheer, Moore and a second round pick for Hardy then I'd be happy. If we could get two second round picks and Denarius Moore, I'd be smiling. Not only do second round picks seem to have more value this year, but Moore definitely would be a solid WR2 that could ultimately become a WR1, or at least put up those types of numbers several times per year. He is a play-maker that probably could benefit from a change of scenery.

Well we have two of them, so you must ask yourself is this going to be sustainable.

It will be in two years time when both hardy and cj are restructured to full longterm evenly balanced contracts and we have all the dead money from past players and those two RBs off the books, until then it looks dumb to do what were doing.

What's worse is tagging Hardy after watching the offensive minded teams dominate this past season, especially the Super Bowl.

...oh wait.

Yes but that team has an effective run game and adequate weapons for there qb to work with, people just want a balanced approach not ignore the offense totally, ten points won't win many play off games dude

Gettleman had no choice but to tag Hardy. Either he walkes after this season, we made a trade deal, or we work out a long term contract. A lot depends on Hardy. We had to let Peppers walk and we may have to let Hardy walk as well.

Best case is a team is willing to fork over some picks. I think we can get a replacement for Hardy. I know he is a great player, but we can't keep on paying huge salaries and going cheap on the rest of the team.

Veldheer is a FA, correct?

Guess they would have to tag him also to be able to trade him?

Anyway.

I would like a first rounder, or a 2nd and 3rd.  Cheaper than taking on other guys contracts at this point

Who's ignoring the offense? You have to allow some time for the plan to unfold.

We will see after this years draft, but year four and cam faces the possibility of a weaker oline and a lack of weapons more so than any of his first three years whilst the defence is adressed.
