Hakeem Nicks: "I can see myself catching passes from Cam Newton" (among others)

What makes a long term deal out of the question? With the cap going up considerably In the next few years and the shitty Hurney contracts finally starting to come off the books in the next few years....why can't we sign him to say a 4 or 5 year deal with more of the money coming in the 3rd and 4th years, or something like that? I think he really wants to come here, and the more I see I think it's a real possibility.

Don't like the "I want a long term deal" part. We can't afford a long term deal.

Nicks already admitted the other day he will to play one 1-2 yr cheap contract to prove he can still play. I can see DG working a solution here right trying to figure out how bring him in and sign him come Tuesday. Nicks is the most likely guy we have chance at. Then keep Smith around and drafting 2 WRs  in the first 3 picks some how. That's the best option we have right now. Nicks ain't the grestest WR. But when healthy then he can be solid.

I disagree.  We have cap room and the cap is going up substantially over the next 2 years.  I think we can sign him to a long-term deal that is more reasonable this year than a 1-year deal.  Imagine a 5-year, $35 million deal.

Yes, we will have to sign Cam, Luke, and Star.  But the bad deals Marty made will be falling off the books.

    • If Henderson just got a concussion and will possibly/probably now miss next week as well, gotta think missing 2 games of stats at this point of the year might knock him out as he was only just entering the discussion the last few weeks anyways.  Same goes for Judkins going down today too, and Dart's god awful game likely removes him from the conversation as well. It will be interesting to see how the voters compare T-Mac and Egbuka if they end up with stats that are nearly identical. Egbuka burst onto the scene and put up the bulk of his stats early in the year when Baker was playing like the MVP front runner.  While T-Mac was just more consistent throughout the course of the full season (ex. Egbuka has 8 games of 42 yards or less, T-Mac has 4 of them, while T-Mac still scored 3 TDs in those 4 games, where Egbuka only scored 1 TD in his 8). It would be a shame if they put too much weight on the final game of the season if that ends up being the division decider, as I think T-Mac has had the better SEASON while Egbuka had a better peak output during that first month or so but way cooled off since. Maybe Warren goes off in the last 3 games (they still play tomorrow), but it does seem to be down to T-Mac and Egbuka right now.
    • Mitchell Evan’s put a block on someone that he drove them all the way out of bounds and to the bench. He absolutely destroyed the guy. He’s gonna be a beast for us if he keeps that up.
    • Yall... stop taking a sample size and projecting a role player into a permanent starter cuz he had a decent year after what, 5? Come on
