DG said it was a tough decision and we are a team in transition.  Most teams are in some form of transition  ... some more some less.  However, this looks more like rebuilding.  We kept nobody except Gano and some journeymen linemen.

 

 After a 12-4 season, I guess we weren't a few pieces away from another strong playoff run, in his opinion..

 

Disappointed that Collins selected the Bucs over us.  Would like to know what we offered.

Sad day indeed.  I can understand somewhat why this has been done - we are team in transition.  We will have a lot of new faces and Luke/Cam are our new leaders.  Smith was last of the old guard and too strong a personality.

When you think about it, cutting Smith was really unnecessary. It didn't have to be done but that's what happens in todays NFL.

The things he did for us with the lack of talent we kept around him was absolutely a testament to his determination, hard work, and desire to be great.

I doubt we'll ever see anyone else like him in the NFL, and I know I'll never love a player more than I love Smitty.

 

Sad day.

 

He deserves a statue outside the stadium way more than anyone else ever has.
