i love steve smith. he's my favorite player of all time. but this quote tells us one of two things:

 

(1) 5 catches for 61 yards is the new blood and guts

 

or,

 

(2) it isn't and steve smith wasn't playing for blood and guts with us, he was playing for stats and a comfy retirement.

 

 

 

either way it was time, and i've come to terms with it.

I don't think anyone here is rooting for him to score a bunch of points on the Panthers.

 

I'm willing to bet most are primarily joking around. I know I am.

 

Smitty has been my favorite player for some time, primarily because he's been the best player on the team I root for.

 

Once I see him in a new uniform, I'm sure that'll begin to change and he'll slowly become just Steve Smith, WR for team X.

 

But for now, he's still Smitty, the most exciting Carolina Panther ever.
