Bobby Hebert said New Orleans a contender for Smith if he doesn't go to Baltimore

This is Steve Smith we're talking about though who still feels like he's not respected after a Hall of Fame career. He has the luxury to worry about things like petty revenge rather than money.

Sorry he feels that way.  Probably why he's not on the roster anymore.

In his interview this morning he pretty much called out G-man saying that he wouldn't let the actions of 1 man who he's only known for 6 months 10 months or something like that (i know its 14 months but that's what smitty said) change his opinion of the entire Panthers franchise, and they he'd never say anything bad about JR or his family. Smith will probably play somewhere and I'm sure he is absolutely disgusted with Gettleman, but I doubt he wants vengeance on the Panthers. I don't think he'd play in the NFCS for a team other than us.

Yeah that pretty much sums it up. Thanks.

I guess it's possible, but I don't see it. Steve Smith loathes the Saints, and playing for Sean Payton? Nah.

I can definitely see Smith in NO.   The hate towards any franchise by a player is usually due to the fact teams are rivals, but many times a hated player or franchise becomes a loved one when that player is then on that team, etc.

Smith wants numbers, wants a ring, wants to go the playoffs and would probably love to play the Panthers two times a year and once in Charlotte.  Being in NO will provide all this for him.  Would not be surprised one bit if he signed there.  I

+++++

Almost a prefect fit for him if they'll have him. Dome team, great QB, not too far away, stable coaching staff, great offense, good defense, serious SB contender, already knows the division and has an auto-chip-shoulder-thing because he gets to try and show up the guy who fired him twice a year. Get those HoF stats up up up.

Anyways, no need for anyone to get upset if it did happen, it's just business.

    • Btw... only Mitch fugging Marner has a better +/- than Key 🔑!!! And, Mitchy needed 5 more games and almost 100 more shifts to get there.
    • I was honestly flabbergasted to see Rod send out Stanky and the boys to to matchup against their top line to start the game. The reason that line has been so effective is because they've been matched mostly against 2nd and 3rd lines all year. You've got last change. Use it to your advantage.
    • Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
