Was Chase Blackburn actually good? Nope. Did he come in handy most likely against NYG?

Is Harper good? Nope. Will he be of more use than whatever no name would play S for us against NO twice this year? Probably.

No worse than our other Ss

If we draft a safety, Harper likely won't see the field. G-Man is just filling in the holes with what's available.

I think you are half right. Gman brought Harper in to fill a hole. Same thing he did last year. Some holes will be filled through the draft. Some holes will still be there throughout the season. We have to fill out the roster with these type players. Until we are out of cap hellz, and we can draft a few more times. These are the things that you have to do.

Fill holes with available talent, at the price you can pay. We are in this hell for at least another year, maybe two. Whining, harping, and overreacting will not change the facts. We have no fugging money.

We couldn't give Mitchell, or Ginn Jr. the money they wanted. Ignore that fact and hissy on. Or accept the fact, and hope Gman can repeat last year. The choice is yours.

Wow.  Some Panther fans are bitchy.

 

 

It's a good signing..  we have arguably the best front 7 in the NFL.   With one of the best defensive minds in football (Rivera).           Harper will be a solid addition.

Bingo. I don't know why The Huddle is acting as if Mitchell was an All-Pro talent. I guess winning disguises alot.

Also when you are so horrible at S for years and years...... average guys look good.

Our S situation was poo for years until we signed Mitchell and Mikell. Then we became average and it looked good

He made it to the probowl the year they won the superbowl, albeit as an alternate. You cannot diminish his achievements. Mike Mitchell has never even made the probowl. Lets see how Harper plays with our front seven before we hang him.

Each one of my responses are just that... Diminiishing his achievements.. Which are in the past... Knocking his current ability and wishing him ill will.

Other than blitzing( telegraphing the defense when he is out there) he offers little at this stage in his career.

You are convinently diminishing what Mike Mitchell did here by alot.. Pro bowl be dammed! I put zero stock in your probowl resume.

If nothing else he fills Mitchell's role as an enforcer type. However, I think he'll have to win the job against Lester in camp. Harper is a pure strong safety, so he won't be playing opposite Lester. I don't see this affecting Godfrey one way or the other; he's probably the starting FS as of now.

      I'm more impressed with the UDFA that the guys they have drafted in the first the last 2 years. A whole lot of prove it is still needed before any improvement should be talked about seriously.

      While I don't believe its a must win, (we have been better on the road this post season) it is definitely A NEED TO WIN the longer this series goes the more pronounced the Canes advantage on rest and health will be! If we hold serve at home in games 1 and 2 guaranteeing a 6 game minimum series for them if we lose the road games..... by the game 4 and 5 I expect them to be beat they have played A LOT OF HOCKEY the last three years, they have MINIMAL rest off a more physical than one might have expected series vs the leafs.... you know Tampa took their pound of flesh in round 1 from them. Combine all that with the fact that even though this year's canes squad isn't as talented as last years this IS a better squad than the one they swept last time that had McKenzie Mckeathern on line 1 Turbo with a broken hand a banged uo and eventually concussed Slavin (and even though it was a sweep 6 OTS and 4 1 goal losses is hardly dominant)  This year Bob hasn't been superman (hes probably gonna still have a great save percentage agiast us just a side effect of our style) Thatchuk is maybe 50% (3 game winners agiast us) their defense no longer has Gudas and several other downgrades.  While the Canes have a healthy and performing Svechnikov along with other big guys to counteract florida like Carrier, Jankowski, Robinson.   I by know means think it will happen but I either see this as a low scoring dog fight or a series were the canes surprise and end up dominating.
