Kony Ealy at #28?

Unless Ford puts on some weight (he's 252), he's not your ideal 4-3 NFL DE. And if he puts on weight, what will that do to his explosiveness and quickness (which are his primary weapons)?

Ford could make a deadly OLB in the 3-4 though.

Ealy (at 273) is a perfect fit at 4-3 DE.

And I would much rather spend a 1st round pick on a 1st round value DE than a 2nd round value OT (Kouandjio) or WR (Adams, Landry).

For me it would be hard to pass on Amaro and OBJ in this situation. But they may value later round receivers more anyway, there is no way to possibly know that except maybe on draft day. Plus they prob have an idea of what they want to do about CJ & Hardy next year. That might come clear in the first pick. I trust them tho.

    • New season new teams. Everyone we face has improved their team as well. There's now a full season of tape on Canales's offense and Bryce running it. When they win 7 games I will become a believer.
    • I mean I think its a bit disingenuous to call basically anyone here a casual fan. I don't think the casual fan creates a profile then logs into it, in the offseason, to comments on mundane offseason topics.. I dont think anyone on here would be considered a casual fan. That said, I get your point. My POV is from the player. They sign this contract, move their family because of these contracts. When Clowney came him, we basically had a coming home party for him.  So yeah, I get why we did it and I know that ultimately the owner doesnt 'save' money, but I can feel for the human side of the player, which is why I want them to get all they can while they can.
    • My guess is the NBA will either send Flagg back “home” to the Northeast in Brooklyn or Washington, or San Antonio so that they can keep building around Wemby. If I was a betting man I would take the odds on the Spurs. This definitely feels like a #1 pick that they will rig.
