  1. Past hour
  2. Not the biggest fan of PFF grades long but they made an interesting point on their commentary this week Bryce Young is presently per them one the worst “deep passers in the NFL” this year. Which was the comeback narrative of being great at it. But PFF deep is actually intermediate. It’s 10 yards. During his comeback he was able to get off those intermediate passes because of the big shift defenses went running man and blitzing. where Bryce struggles the most to date is just being asked to stand in the pocket and throw into coverage. And really struggles on top of that if folks start disguising stuff. (This part is me….and his small stature and arm struggle facing that) so I would expect people just don’t give him man. Dial back the blitzing and just ask him to play into coverage with his arm.
  3. While I wanted Stroud I was ok with the Young pick. I didn’t judge. Not even his first year. No knee jerk reactions. Allowed time to watch him learn. It’s into year three and it’s time. He sucks. It’s true this franchise sucks too obviously with other players AND coaches doing much better after leaving. Unfortunately it’s a severely dysfunctional franchise and the only thing that will save it is a true generational talent at QB that this inept FO actually lucks into picking or high priced elite vet if that is even possible who would come here over other places or Tepper selling or keeling over. Things that are just unlikely to happen. The Panthers are literally the new age Browns.
  4. I knew he wasn't long for the league the first time he went flying through the air like idgaf.
  5. Sorry I missed this but depending on how the year plays out, I would say extend him BUT it would have to be on terms aligned with his play.
  6. That zone was so soft that 3 guys were bearly on the screen. No rushing called. Playing off the line 10+ yards. Yeah that's garbage time. It took an onsides kick to make them try to play D again. Until then they didn't care and still wouldn't play real D against Young until they absolutely had to and that was with backups in the backfield. Slow start is freaking hilarious. He was gifted the lowest effort a bad team can give and still couldn't put anything together for 1 freaking series at the end after 2 quarters of warmup ball. It was like watching someone stretching for an hour and then pull a hammy after 10 feet of running.
  7. On the subject of Reich and him being no good as a coach, because he wouldn’t change everything he did to accommodate Young. He wanted to sit Young. He knew what Young was. But to the point, was Andrew Luck a good QB under Reich in Indy? Most people don’t hesitate to say yes. Well, Luck thought enough of his coaching to bring him to Stanford. There is a bona fide NFL QB that seems to dispute the painting of Reich as a incompetent and the reason for Young’s shortcomings. Yes he got fired. It appears as if Tepper and Fitterer forced a QB he did not want on him and poisoned the well right from the start. I don’t blame Reich one bit for being pissed either. And I wasn’t a Reich guy I wanted Wilks. I accepted the Reich hire but never lobbied for him. Just saying he is being dogged here unfairly.
  8. I think its a mix of both. Bryce being too small and offense is too vanilla. Plays arent creative enough. Most are slants, fades and runs. But even Baker and Sam had to deal with vanilla offense and looked horrid. Thats why I say it's a mix of both.
  9. That really was what took the wind out of the sails of the comeback, how bad he looked on that final drive. He can sometimes catch lightning in a bottle, he did last season for a stretch, but when it goes south he reverts back to not looking like he has ever played above a HS football level.
  10. I wish Bryce the best, as a guy that said he was the best QB in that draft, but I don't really think he will be much better elsewhere. Well, let me clarify, not better enough to ever be a regular NFL starting QB.
  11. I always knew Cam wasn't long for the League. If he didn't win a Superbowl by 30 it wasn't happening
  12. Generally speaking, as bad as we are, we aren’t trailing by 24 the first time we touch the ball in the second half. and he finished how we started. Really bad
  13. Looks to me like he was looking to go long and didnt consider the check down to Chuba. He turns to let left and seems like he just caught a quick glance of T-Mac 1 on 1 and was going to take a chance and get bumped as he is trying to release and didnt get a good release.
  14. One of the best in the league. Would instantly be our best offensive player. At what cost? Two firsts plus Svech and nadeau or some combo. It won’t be cheap.
  15. Garbage stats? So he threw for 250 yards and 3 TDs in garbage time only? Well if that's the case then the worst teams should lead the NFL in passing every year. Geez. Slow start? Heck yes. Horrible start actually. But that doesn't take away from how he finished. A defense might give you one drive to close the gap, but they ain't giving you 3.
  16. I agree. The Panthers should have never traded for a QB. They should have stayed with Newton, Allen, Heinicke, and Bridgewater until they found a QB that could prove they were better than them. Could have gotten some QBs in the late rounds over the past 5 seasons to mix in that competition as the underperformers are moved to the back of the line. Then you add in the QBs that are tossed until one of them performs and holds on to the position. Meanwhile, the defense, OL & skill position players would all be ready for that QB that performs consistently above the set standards. Wait for a pedigree QB to trade up for if you haven't found your franchise QB. You'd have a team that's ready for them. Darnold, Mayfield & Young were not pedigree QBs
  17. He’s a #1 Pick…they gonna ride this one out…
  18. Today
  19. No matter how many times it’s said, they just can’t hear it or don’t want to. Either way it’s tiresome having to point it out every single time. The kid can’t play at this level. Period.
  20. Sadly, Bryce switched to first half mode with the defense.
  21. Bryce Young has the super ultra mental processor or something like that.
  22. Image what Youngs arm would be like if he played at that age.
  23. No, clearly I responded to your statement that no QB would have been successful. Which means you are actually opening up the door for us to think about much better QBs than a washed old Dalton (who as I mentioned, drastically outperformed Bryce in the one game glimpse). so I’m not even comparing him to Dalton. I’m looking at the narrative you put out about what it would have looked like with other QBs and yeah, it reasonable to assume others QBs would have had a much different season. * summary, you can’t actually dimiss Bryce’s rookie season. See this season as an example of why
  24. Was just coming to say this. Bust Young's "super processor" seems to be a sham and he has 0 physical tools to makeup for it. We are hosed.
  25. We were down 24 points late in the third with a qb incapable of scoring quick and a defense incapable of getting a quick three and out. I get the thought process of getting as many points as you can.
  26. It's a feedback loop...bad playcalls make the players look bad, bad players make the playcalling look bad. It's just a carousel of fk ups to be honest. Someone is chitting down their leg on almost every play and obviously the quarterback is prone to doing that the most since they handle the ball every snap and we leveraged 3 years of our future to get him. As bad as we've been I actually do believe they can turn it around, I just don't believe they will.
  27. Are you seriously comparing a 14 year vet who went to 7 playoff games to a rookie being developed by a coach who would be fired that same year. Seriously?
