The more they do this, the more the NFL will turn into a war of attrition. It's hard enough to keep these guys healthy for a season, much less adding another full speed, high impact game to the schedule. Another bye week and expanding the roster is going to be the only way to do it and keep people interested. It seems like half the playmakers are done for the year by week 10 anyway and the season starts getting boring. Probably why we see so many questionable/terrible calls that lead to upsets and closer divisions to keep the season somewhat interesting.

There is part of this that is true. If you dump a potentially very good QB on an extremely bad team, you get Cam Ward 2025(just an example). However, there is an element of having to shoot your shot when it is available because you don't know when it is going to come again. I would imagine Jets fans aren't pumped that Dante Moore went back to college and are now looking at the prospect of either having to beg/overpay a FA QB, overdraft Ty Simpson or deal with an overdrafted 2nd-5th round QB in a panic.

That's fair as a 4th rounder. Bust is harsh. But he has basically had maybe a 4-5 game stretch of good play his entire career and that is it. The fact he keeps getting more snaps ever Evans is crazy to me. I get that he is a high ceiling guy but he doesn't show any reals signs of being a consistent contributor. I did a look at Canales time in TB and here. He really doesn't utilize good TE's, even when he has them.

The CBA allows for 20 games, which is why it was 4+16 games, and now 3+17, and soon it will be 2+18. That is not breaking news. It will not be happening next season though. It will be the next big negotiating point though, and most people expect players to ask for some big concessions for going along with an additional game. No longer drug testing for marijuana is my guess.

Two byes, expanded roster size or some adjustments on practice squad size and requirements is a must. I'd prefer 8 home, 8 away, 1 other (international or a college town with no pro team) but I think we are closer to a 20 game season than we are to staying at 17.

There were existing pieces to build with including Olsen, Smitty, Dangelo, Stewart, Defense. 2010 was just a historically bad offense due to QB.

Oh, sure. Take away one preseason game where starters may be on the field for one quarter and add a regular season game where you go all out for sixty minutes. They're exactly the same thing. If anything, this only means even more injuries, worse quality of product on the field and more meaningless late season football. But at least they get to charge you full price for it! Hooray for unrestrained capitalism!

Beane's roster is being carried by his quaterback. Buffalo with an average QB isn't that great of a roster IMO. He also got very lucky that Allen developed the way he did. He is a unicorn when you look at his college tape vs his NFL. It's way too early to tell on Morgan IMO.

Really looks like Brandon Beane was littlefingering his way to more power. Appears he got a promotion, with somehow less responsibility of the personnel. His last few drafts are lacking at best. I was really upset when we lost him. I am really surprised about this, as all accounts were that Sean McDermott put his neck on the line to get Brandon Beane to Buffalo. That owner is something. Destroyed a really good Sabres franchise in the NHL, and then was blessed with one of the best QBs of a generation, and it sure looks like he's wasting it with the bills. Rumor is they want Brian Daboll, but there's a 0.0% shot I give that job to somebody that already has a less than stellar track record. I still have a lot of respect for Mcdermott. But he doesn't really come out of this looking great either. The leaks from the building are, in my opinion, clearly from Mcdermott's camp. I think the bills had to move on, but I'd have moved on from both. Mcdermott is still one of the best DC's in the game, and a really good defense first head coach.

I think shortening preseason is inevitable with an 18 game schedule. I suspect there will be much more emphasis on joint practices among teams.

I think 18 is inevitable as well, but why can't we just do two byes for every team then? I think that's more than deserved for these guys.

A'Shawn Robinson is a valuable depth piece. He isn't some world beater, but he's a leader in the locker room and commands respect. I think we should pay him to stick around.
