  2. This is something I've never understood with most teams. The Ravens, 49ers, etc. for years used a FB, and did it well. I know there aren't many Kyle Juszcyks out there, but... When you have a tiny little QB and want to run the ball? I think a FB is worth a roster spot. Or, line up Tremble or Evans at FB. Or Derrick Brown for that matter. Let a massive human being use momentum to get a foot.
  3. He gets the blame because his role as the QB is to make plays, help the team score more points and elevate players around him. He does none of that. Just because he didn’t massively mess up doesn’t mean he wasn’t a reason for the loss. The bar some of you have for Bryce is incredibly low.
  4. Yeah I was crying about this earlier in the year when we got to 6 wins. Equal number to Wilks. We are still a QB away.
  5. Hey y'all, a topic that has been on my mind has always been the parallels between two of the best quarterbacks in the history of the NFC South and ultimately their place in history and how they are viewed moving forward through the rest of NFL history. These two quarterbacks as you might have guessed are their respective franchises greatest signal callers, Cam Newton and Matt Ryan. Cam Newton (144 Games Started): 269 TDs (1.8 per contest), 123 INTs, Super Bowl Appearance, OROTY, MVP Matt Ryan (234 Games Starter): 394 TDs (1.6 per contest), 183 INTs, Super Bowl Appearance, OROTY, MVP Obviously on first glance, these are very similar players with identical top accomplishments. Let's zoom in a little bit on their surrounding talent. C Cam Newton top offensive producers: Greg Olsen (TE) (9 Seasons) (3 Pro Bowls) Steve Smith Sr. (WR) (3 Seasons) (1 Pro Bowl) Matt Ryan top offensive producers: Julio Jones (WR) (10 Seasons) (7 Pro Bowls) Roddy White (WR) (8 Seasons) (4 Pro Bowls) Tony Gonzalez (TE) (5 Seasons) (4 Pro Bowls) Wow, quite the difference here. Through Cam's career his top option was Greg Olsen, who was one of the best tight ends of his generation and a real difference maker in an offense reliant on their quarterback making plays outside of structure. Newton post Steve Smith Sr was saddled with a revolving door of Chicken McNobodies at the receiver position and the offense had to be funneled through the tight end and running attack as Jericho Cotchery, Corey Brown, Jason Avant, Kelvin Benjamin, etc was not getting the job done. Ryan on the other hand was consistently surrounded with top level offensive weapons, including one of the best receivers and tight ends in the history of the game, thanks in part to an aggressive general manager who wanted to ensure they could maximize the arm talent of their franchise quarterback. How about protection? Cam Newton top offensive lineman: Jordan Gross (3 Seasons) (1 Pro Bowl) Ryan Kalil (8 Seasons) (2 Pro Bowls) Andrew Norwell (4 Seasons) Trai Turner (6 Seasons) (5 Pro Bowls) Matt Ryan top offensive lineman: Jake Matthews (8 Seasons) (1 Pro Bowl) Alex Mack (5 Seasons) (3 Pro Bowls) Andy Levitre (3 Seasons) Todd McLure (5 Seasons) While Matt Ryan certainly had more consistency and high level talent on his offensive line, one could argue they had similar protection through the bulk of their career. Though one has to acknowledge some of the absolute dog water lineman that were trot out to protect Newton at his tackle spots post Jordan Gross retirement. Byron Bell, Mike Remmers, Matt Kalil, Chris Clark, Amini Silatolu, Nate Chandler, etc were all a collective pile of garbage save for two seasons from Remmers and a few splashes of brilliance from Michael Oher, Daryl Williams, and early career Taylor Moton. Defense should be fairly simple. Cam Newton defense average rank: 17th/32 Matt Ryan defense average rank: 18th/32 Honestly I was a bit surprised by this, I had thought Cam consistently had the better defenses, but when you look at the average it's shockingly close. While Newton did have the higher peaks of defense, Atlanta placed higher more consistently and only really faltered towards the end of Ryan's career. Both these players had on and off again defenses to rely on. So what does all this mean? 1. I am bored at work 2. Cam Newton has the better body of work given the talent around him While I am not sure either is necessarily a lock to get a gold jacket, it's undeniable that Newton carried his franchise on his back for the better part of his career and changed how quarterbacks are viewed as a whole. Newton became the blueprint for a new breed of signal caller, and Ryan is the standard that is set for pocket quarterbacks in the modern league. Both players deserve their kudos for what they did for their franchises and how they morphed their team's identity, but Newton I think was clearly the better of the NFC South quarterbacks, especially if he had remained as healthy as Ryan did.
  6. 100% agree, trading him would be the best possible scenario. It allows for a clean start at QB and you get something back.
  7. Rule 8, Section 3, Articles 1-4 leave a lot of room for discretion and subjectivity. For instance, the player has to maintain control through the ground but the rule also says this is Note 1: Movement of the ball does not automatically result in loss of control. Doesn't make a lot of sense.
  8. Hope he does well, but I rather doubt he will.
  9. what if I told you nijman might be your starting LT on sunday?
  10. Today
  11. I would wager you could give every single NFL ref the slow mo view of that catch and ask them what they would do in a game with it......and it would still be a very split call. for me, the ball rotated enough while hitting the the ground even with his hand firmly on it, that a good amount are going to say the ground was used to help complete the catch. NFL needs better rules. I don't think they want that. Because better rules either lead to less catches or dumb catches. Instead, we get inconsistent calls.
  12. Nijman is not the answer at RT. He is a backup. Our fanbase has a real problem falling in love/believing in backup caliber offensive linemen.
  13. Yeah, they weren't great, for sure. Still, the officials were a significantly less significant issue than the Panthers themselves. We were exceptionally poorly prepared, coached, etc. That's the real story. Poor officiating is largely an excuse for performing extremely poorly.
  14. Moton is getting up there in years and there was some question if I remember correctly whether he was going to hang it up or not. Sadly, Father Time catches every player eventually. Still, we also have to consider that for all of New Orleans' faults, they've had two really good pass rushers for some time now. Me, I can't wait for Cameron Jordan to finally hang up his cleats and join a broadcast team somewhere. Man, he has been a menace in every game he has played.

  16. The refs’ fault on Tuesday, Bryce Young’s fault on Sunday. Lather, rinse, repeat.
  17. Amazing what can happen if you SHOOT on a PP instead of passing nonstop.
  18. I think the same thing, they don’t have any better options especially since Christiansen is out for the year
  19. It wasn’t completely his fault, but outside of two throws and one or two scrambles he didn’t do much to help. His accuracy was all over the place, numerous passes that were placed poorly and didn’t give the receiver a good chance to catch the ball or do anything with it after. He also continues to display terrible pocket awareness. Even the sacks could have been avoided, they weren’t immediate like the pressure we got on Shough at times. Bryce just often has no feel for pressure and stands there waiting to get sacked after numerous seconds have passed.
  20. I really fuging hate this era in so many ways. I look at those Adin Ross and Neon kids, and I just wonder why tf are they famous? Why would anyone be desperate enough to gain THAT audience that they’d risk money, career, disciplinary action to go up there and associate with those fuging dweebs? And back in my day, racist peers got their ass beat. And not endorsing or approving bully culture, but checks and balances and all… had those two been bullied, or at the very least humbled, they wouldn’t be famous and glorified for being the fuging idiots they are now. It seriously pisses me off… they both have done and said multiple, openly racist stuff and major media keeps pushing them, talking about them, and propping them up… and then dummies like Puka who don’t need the platform or exposure lend their celebrity to them. fuging idiot… and even the other streamers, I don’t get - Speed, Kai… I don’t understand making nobodies famous at all, but there is at least entertainment value to some degree there, and I could see how young, impressionable kids would find them something to aspire to (sadly), or view as “cool.” But Ross and Neon? They’re just shitty, shitty nerds with big ass mouths. I’ve went back recently and watched some classics (in two very different eras and categories ) like Robocop and Idiocracy. And what I find fascinating is how both movies illustrate how stupid society became by showing what the citizenry is entertained by. In both, society became anti-intellectual and the citizenry were entertained by lowest denominator, primal-type absurdity - poo like, “Ouch! My Balls!” Or on Robocop, a guy is a watching a show where they are smashing cakes on ladies’ breasts and then a guy says a line as the camera zooms in like, “I’d buy that for a dollar!” and the audience thinks it’s hilarious. That’s where I feel like we are now. Like who watches that clip with Puka and thinks any of that poo is funny or cool? If I was Puka, I’d honestly be wondering why tf I’m hanging out with these beta ass, racist, cretin ass weirdos.
  21. 7 wins this year and some of those against really good teams and yall think Canales might get fired? Lol Good luck getting a better coach in here if that happens.
  22. Should definitely look to trade him in the offseason. Some team will fork over draft picks thinking they can turn his career around, especially considering what happened to Mayfield and Darnold after they left here. I think a lot of people will be surprised at how high of a pick he would fetch too. There's a dozen guys you could bring in to match (or exceed) Bryce's production for 1/10th of what his 5th year option is going to cost. Let some other dumb team pay that (and ship us draft picks for the privilege). Dump Dalton too while you're at it, start the QB room over from scratch.
