Screams Jets throws some money at him so they can maybe go QB next year

Shoulda woulda coulda, I'm happy for Sam, and I hope he wins the bowl. We have who we have now, deal with it or move on. Sam now, wasn't Sam when we had him. You could say he needed to go through Carolina to get to where he is now.

Would rather spend big on an edge rusher and address MLB in the draft, we need a vet edge who can step in from day 1 and be our best pass rusher, better than Scourton who I think has great potential. We're not getting that in the draft this year, use that on MLB or an OT if there is a starter there and then take a MLB in the 2nd. That would be a much better way to allocate the cap to the starting lineup while giving us the best results as well.

I have to say, whatever the reason was, Baker was not good here, there was little indication he was gonna be good. Other than that I pretty much blame Tepper for the first 7 years of his stewardship being pure misery and full of fugtardedness. Things were finally somewhat improved upon in year 8. No coach under Tepper even smelled 8 wins before. And that coach did it with Bryce Young. While most people hated on him.

Neither. Stay with Darnold, keep DJ Moore and CMC. Draft Jalen Carter, Kobie Turner in 2023. Draft Drake Maye if Darnold struggles, or Jared Verse if Darnold gets the Panthers 9 wins in 2024. Draft Tyler Shough to backup Darnold in 2025. And stay with Wilks through 2023. Get a new coach if Maye is the pick or give Wilks a defender in Verse if he wins. That's what I wanted at the end of 2022, and CJ or BY were never worth that cost. A QB with a pro pedigree that grades out in the top 20 picks isn't even worth that cost.

I begrudgingly accept the 5th year option only because the 5th year is not guaranteed. We can get out after next year if he doesn’t throw down. I think Darnold and Baker are great examples that's it's more than just the player. The Panthers organization during their tenures here was absolute trash. Both of these guys took 4-5 years to develop, bounce to multiple teams, and finally be placed in a great scenario for them to succeed. Structure and organization is more important than the player some times. Look what Patriots did this year, their roster was devoid of talent last year but you find the right coaching organization, add a few players in free agency and they are in the Super Bowl. These examples make me feel like we need to give Bryce more time to prove himself. If we let Bryce walk and he succeeds else where like Darnold and Baker, then it's the organization's fault and we can have Mahomes as our QB and it wouldn't even matter.

Under Sam we had the worst offense in the NFL, he sucked in Carolina get over it.

I did a Sam once.

It wasn't one bad game. In his last five games of the season (regular and playoff), he had 8 interceptions and at least 2 fumbles lost. That is a pretty bad stretch that will be on his mind the entire off season.

Sam Darnold was the 2018 QB. Not Mayfield, Allen, or Jackson. Firing Rhule was the key. Wilks, Darnold, CMC, Rico, TMac, Moore, and Coker would have gotten the job done. Toss in all the extra picks wasted on day one and day 2 project players, and the Panthers have a top defense too.

That’s if you draft the wrong quarterback. Patriots aren’t having to do that. They are straight in year two. I suppose you could argue that they did draft the wrong one and then built like you said. The difference is, if that were the case, they moved on from their mistake. That’s what I am thinking about that.

Yeah. That start to his career was about as bad as it can get. In New York, Meat grinder press corps, of the first degree, When he came here he was on OC 3 - in year 3. And people in this fan base that think they are smart, could not take that stuff into account. Now, most of the smart ones are not Bryce Stans but Bryce gets 4 damned years free pass. At least 3 The fail of the organization AND fan base in general, fuging shamefully short sighted, And the choking thing, players have to fail before they succeed. With very few exceptions. Last year was really his first meaningful, high stakes game. Okay, he didn’t play well. They learn from that, or are supposed to. You don’t throw out a guy with all those tools and with his rocky did him no favors background for not being perfect right away. He might suck in the SB, but he proved a ton this year. If we’d have had any patience he was the guy to use it on, not Bryce Young.

Darnolds OC when he was drafted was Jeremy Bates who was fired. He hasn’t had an nfl job since then. his next head coach was Adam gates who was fired after two years and isn’t in the league anymore. then he gets traded to the Matt Rhule panthers. His first OC was a hired WAY too early Joe Brady who was fired midseason and basically had to restart his career as a get back coach in Buffalo. then it was Jeff Nixon, who’s currently the head coach for Syracuse. the next season was the best he’d ever looked, and it was the first time he had an actual nfl offensive coordinator calling plays for him. The less said about Matt Rhule the better. then he sits a year and ends up in Minnesota and the rest is history. maybe he just had poo awful coaches for the start of his career. Maybe we should be trying to find someone who flamed out on the jets. one who’s a religious weirdo and likes to bang married women that’s right baby, Zach Wilson redemption tour starts now

Your last paragraph, painful. We suffered it all with Rhule and Fitterer and were rewarded with Bryce. I’ll stop there, I have made hundreds of posts that say what I would say if I continued.

You underestimate the stupidity of our owner. Bryce shouldn't have got the 5th year but he did. He hasn't had back to back franchise QB level game performances ever. Our franchise is being built on hope and a determined owner who will not admit he made the wrong choice.

Bryces third year to put up or shut up

By the time you draft a QB and design and drafting the players to build around him, especially with the trade up we did, the rookie QB contract window is almost over. It's better to build the system and find the QB to drop into it before the 50-60m per season bomb drops or just draft from your position without bankrupting your future.
