Would've been something if they didn't even make it to the medal round. -
Who exactly is going to start at left tackle for us from FA or the draft? Rasheed Walker is the best FA and is expected to command a four year 85M deal with a lot guaranteed, and we have to fight other teams for him. We already have the most expensive line in the NFL. That playoff game really screwed us pushing us back to pick 19 and costing us a franchise LT. Dan Morgan will have to earn his money this offseason because i have no idea how we fill all of our holes.

I think former players are justified in using the term we when referring to former teams, especially when they spent their whole career with them

Nice little video with Kuechly's perspective on the state of the team. But does Kuechly work for the Panthers in some capacity? He keeps referring to the them as "we".
-
Yes, he was serviceable when called upon. I think he also benefited greatly from some stellar play by Damien Lewis.

This Bryce Guy (General BY Discussion)
electro's horse replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
From another guy on another forum regarding BTT rate. Pats fan without a dog in the fight “No. It’s not deep balls - it’s passes that gain a lot of yards. In terms of completed air yards (total ball travel through the air) he was #20 in the league. Top five are: Stafford, Maye, Prescott, Lawrence, and Darnold with Goff at 6. When adjusted per completion, Young is 10th worst of QBs who qualify at 4.8 air yards per completion. He’s tied with Tua and Shadeur. Below him are Nix, Cousins, Geno, Dillon Gabriel, Kyler Murray, Throw Rogan, and Brady Cook. League avg is 5.8. The top of the CAY/CMP list is: Lamar with 7.7, Marcus Mariota at 7.6, Maye 7.5, Stafford 7.4, Mills 7.1, and Darnold & Lawrence are at 7 yards a piece.” and another…. ”I'm pretty sure "big time throws" are just a subjective thing given by whoever at PFF is charting the game for a throw that's really good, a big play could still not be a "big time throw" if it's like underthrown but the guy was wide open or a tight six yard throw could be big time if it was fired through triple coverage to convert 3rd down or whatever. It's just "nice throw" with a stat nerd gloss. Bryce was 17th in total # of throws 20+ yards downfield and would've easily been worse if guys like Lamar, Burrow, Purdy, Daniel Jones, etc. hadn't missed time. I can believe he was pretty ok at hitting downfield throws when he had the right look but he wasn't very prolific about it (which is why all these stats boosting him are rate stats instead of volume) and 1-2 nice tosses a game were drowned by the entire rest of his game which is why he was 36th in intended air yards per throw regardless of anything he did downfield (which again, may have been ok but on very middling volume)” - Today

Mike Kaye: LB Devin Lloyd could be a realistic possibility
jfra78 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Pff says we should go after Leo Chenal, so thats probably what we do Leo Chenal Best Landing Spot: Carolina Panthers PFF Free-Agent Ranking: 12 After playing a limited role as a situational run-stuffing and blitzing linebacker to start his career with the Chiefs, Chenal is ready to slot in full time elsewhere. He has posted a 70.0-plus PFF run-defense grade in each of his first four seasons. But it’s his improvements in coverage — headlined by a career-best 72.6 PFF grade in 2025 — that should make him an enticing option. The Panthers' linebacking corps failed to produce a single player with a PFF overall grade above 55.0 in 2025. Adding Chenal to headline the group as the new green-dot communicator would project well for a defense that ranked 23rd in EPA per play allowed this past season. -

He had 4 INTS and 8 QB hits his first 3 years then had 5 INTs and 10 QB hits last year alone. Looks like they changed his role a little. - Yesterday

Man that was a close one. USA wins in OT. -
If the price is right, I think you have to have him back. However, I am fairly confident that his agent knows the system. Would a good rookie be better? I really like the second round level rookies in terms of pass pro--not run blocking, however. I could live with that, if better than Nijman. Rookie OTs struggle--even the first rounders, so I would make sure we have some backup options. With Christensen's injury, I do not see the Panthers getting out of free agency without Nijman, frankly. Free agency is not loaded w starting LTs.

Good question. I would think they would prefer keep whatever continuity there is. I hesitate to assume what ‘good’ is or what he will think it is. He is the floor for tackles on this roster and it seemed survivable with him in there. I struggle to envision him as a starting LOT.

Lloyd was down in tackles this year. Career low. Anyone know what that’s about? I looked right after lunch. 85, 87 something g like that. Where he had been over a 100 all other years. He had 5 picks I think I saw if I read it right. -
Hill is a no.

With Ickey out on a limb and possibly not playing in 26' (or not being productive), would you try to retain Nijman? Looked okay and I think he graded pretty high with limited playing time. What u got?

Big fish signing, but I'm all for it. He is my #1 FA priority and hope he is in Process Blue next year. -
Top 5 draft targets for positions of need
TD alt replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I agree. The "problem" is that we'll never know exactly what the formula is. There is undoubtedly a "need" component in the calculus, but I seriously doubt that elite teams are in the business of drafting needs at the expense of drafting generational guys, or even guys they suspect will be good or solid players for years to come. And, as you suggested, "fit" plays a big part of that calculus as well. At this point, there are several positions that we could justify using day one and two picks on. I'm looking forward to see what they come up with. Moreover, the plan is always to use FA to set up the draft, so that one doesn't feel compelled to do something stupid based upon needs. -
Top 5 draft targets for positions of need
WhoKnows replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
No kidding. 3 drafts and the only OL drafted was Zavala. We’ve drafted 8 WR/TE/RBs in the same 3 drafts and only 1 of the 8 has been an impact starter. -
Yep, came a few years after we wasted a pick on a K, who’s been a stud in KC, to “not” replace a very expensive K, that we got rid of anyway, only to finally get another K as an UDFA 8 years later. We don’t learn that fast. Heck, Zavala is the only OL we’ve drafted in 3 years and that’s why the OL isn’t as solid anymore and one bad injury and we’re right back at the beginning.

Top 5 draft targets for positions of need
strato replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think you look at needs. The you get to the spot… if some guy fell and is there, and is so much better than your need options you can do two things. Take him, or trade back if possible to better match your need guy to his value. Last year we didn’t see the right value in our needs at our spot, and went BPA because we had room for a WR. Worked out great. If it were a LOT there who was BPA? May not have worked so great -
Yeah you’d probably want to do a big signing bonus small salary for Linderbaum in 2026. Icky’s 5th year is guaranteed but you won’t likely be paying him anywhere near what his extension when healthy would have called for. We have a year to play Icky’s situation as unknown. By the end of the season they should know how he is healing. You got G, ROT, even LOT still maybe, and off the roster coming for 2027 with him. I am figuring we have to draft a T high in (one of) the next two drafts. If not two Ts. There will be a lot of flexibility with Moton easing out of the picture and possibly Hunt. I don’t see how we keep paying that money for G but if we had two OTs on rookie deals, it could be worked out I would think.
