I think people forget that by his last season Steve Smith had the ass and he played like it - and for no really good reason other than that other stars were emerging on the team and he didn't want to share the spot light. He was more of a locker room distraction than he was worth. He went on to have great performances with the Ravens' but G-man made the right move allowing him to move on from here. I personally think it was addition by subtraction and we don't have a super bowl run with Smith on the roster. Steve Smith remains a narcissist who I've never seen internalize his own culpability when it comes to his relationships with others - it's always somebody else's fault as to why he was forced to act like an asshole. This video is a product ad. I'm cringed that either of these two Panther greats are party to it.

I think the ‘issue’ here is that we had two guys that clashed for several reasons. In some ways they were different, but in other ways they had a lot in common, and sadly they couldn’t see the forest for the trees. Sometimes when you have two people like that together they are either going to love or hate each other, and if it’s the latter, you need someone to mediate and hope the two individuals are capable of putting their differences aside for the common good. In this instance, they couldn’t find a way to move forwards together because I don’t think either guy wanted to play second fiddle to the other. This video basically said neither guy had the tools to bridge that gap and mend that fence, and perhaps also were unwilling to give an inch at that stage in their lives and careers. So a divorce, while unfortunate, was always likely. Do we win the Super Bowl with Smitty and Cam? Well, it’s one of life’s big what ifs for us Panthers fans.

Tennessee isn't trading a QB on a 2nd round contract that has starting experience. That's bad business.

OT is the top priority as it is both an immediate and future need. I wouldn't be past trading up slightly to get the guy we want. You need that rookie contract right now. Icky is a dead 17.5 million for the season. Morton is 20+ mil for the season, Hunt is 20+ mil for the season. There needs to be forward thinking regarding the future. Caleb Lomu is a left Tackle, he's a solid prospect, he may be the best pick for us now and in the future. I would seriously consider cutting Hunt after 2026, and let Lomu and Icky fight for the LT job, loser moves inside. Icky's future may be at guard after this injury anyway. If Damien Lewis keeps up his level of play he will need to be paid sooner rather than later. Yosh and BC can be our top two depth OL at an affordable price. You will need to look at OT again in 2027. Getting an EDGE for the sake of getting an EDGE outside of the top 10 is pretty risky. I wouldn't be against eyeing someone like Cashius Howell, Derrick Moore, or TJ Parker in the 2nd (even if we trade a future pick to move up) or DDS in the third. I'd love to see us try to sign both Leo Chenal and Matt Millano in FA. Chenal for the blitzing element we are missing from our LB corps and Millano for his elite coverage. They could both work in tandem. Remember, our FO has deep ties to both KC and Buffalo. I love thinking about the draft, but until Free Agency hits, we are clueless. Looking at the strength of FA and the draft, OL is priority #1, LB #2, and EDGE #3. We know what happens to Bryce when protection falls apart.

Would you trade a late pick for Will Levis to be our developmental QB?

If we draft OT in the 1st round with all of the holes we have on defense, that tells me the staff has no faith in Icky or BC ever being quality starters again. Possible with the injuries they suffered, put passing up on an edge or LB with the complete talent deficiency (outside of Scourton) we have at both positions would be worrying - unless there isn't a good choice at 19 for those positions, which could also be possible.

With teams employing nickel defense most of the time it just doesn't seem the ballhawk free safety thing has been much of a thing for a while. I'll take one though but I dont expect it to be a priority attempt

WR is by no means a priority this offseason we have enough invested there and have a certified #1 in Tmac and a solid #2 in Coker personally I don’t hate XL as the #3 and am hopeful he can develop a bit and just avoid his bone headed mistakes. FS is a definite need, Moerig is a textbook SS, and just optimistically hoping if we had a true center fielding FS maybe just maybe Evero would play a bit less off coverage knowing we had somebody deep with true range and not Nick Scott.

Gettleman was relying on a rookie. KB had talent but he didn't have the work ethic. He ballooned his way right out of the league because he didn't take care of himself. Funchess was never EVER going to be that guy. if you let your all world WR go you have to bring someone in that could have replaced him TALENT wise.

I would take Lomu at 19 and Anthony Hill Jr at 51 right now.

I'd rather get a vet to fill XL's spot for a chain mover and give Jimmy Horn more reps since he's basically our Ted Ginn speed guy. T-Mac and Coker are locked in as the top 2. They honestly fuged up giving XL the start over Moore in the playoff game

I have been looking for a dropped pass list and all that comes up is QBs. And team stats. When I do receivers I get the passing stats for a handful that threw passes this year. I wanted to be accurate but anyhow I was looking because thought I remembered reading where T Mac had more drops than XL this year. One of you many smarter than me people here,I would appreciate it if you know how to pull that up, please do. Thank you. And yeah I know that isn’t all there is to it I just thought it was interesting. Of course what the hell is a drop lol.

I agree with this and I think it's worth mentioning too that Bryce is not consistent on his placement and especially velocity and that in large part is driven by his footwork. We all know XL doesn't have the best hands and I don't know that he can overcome that. Cam always had the heater that just hit your hands and sank into your grip, where Bryce has some that are harder thrown, some soft. Bryce stepping into a pass looks so much different than that hop throw thing he does. I think XL really needs to hit the jugs machine and start learning how to catch all these different touch passes. TMac and Coker don't have these issues. If XL doesn't get some work in he's going to be out of the league in the next couple of years.

I think most people like XL from a personal standpoint. I don't think he's stupid either. Although if we are being realistic he is lacking in football IQ at this point in time and it cannot be disputed that he has not taken working on his craft seriously at all times given the body of work on the field. It speaks for itself. I myself have defended him at times given the circumstances of our QB room. But he is now in his third year and 25 years old. We are not in a position as a franchise to go around babying anyone especially first round draft picks. He needs to take his position and his football career seriously or he is going to end up selling used cars somewhere. I hope he realizes this and takes an extended break from social media because that mess certainly isn't going to increase his net worth if he ends up out of the league. And these hanger on types will disappear quick too once that money dries up and it surely will eventually. We'll see how he responds.
