XL is the only interesting person there and they probably don’t get higher than a 4th with maybe some swap shenanigans. Hes not produced at all in the nfl, has terrible fundamentals, and right now it’s looking like he’s got the dreaded “not committed to the game” moniker. plus the panthers can’t keep him around. more I think about it them more I think it’s a seventh from a team that doesn’t want to risk losing him if he’s cut. dj Johnson is worthless.

I think he wants it as bad as anyone. Something in his brain just doesn't fire on game days. -

Oh 1 million percent true. Everything after the 1st, we fall for the fools gold year after year, thinking we're going to take these raw high RAS score type of guys and turn them into stars but never can. But we've been amazingly rock solid in the 1st since 2001, I honestly wonder how many other teams have had as many long term starters at the rate we've had. In our last 24 1st round picks, setting aside Bryce and XL, Butler would be the biggest bust, KB exploded and then fell apart, but that seemed more on him than a missed evaluation, and Otah also started out great but then injuries derailed his carer, so not really a "miss" either. The other 19 (if including T-Mac) were starters and true impact players as career long Panthers until we decided to move on from them through trade, release, or we didn't want to re-sign late in their career, with all of them except Burns having signed a 2nd contract with us as well. Star and Peppers are our only 1st rounders since 2001 to leave through free agency after their contracts expired. Morgan, Peppers, Gross, Gamble, TD, Deangelo, Beason, Stewart, Otah, Cam, Kuechly, Star, KB, Shaq, Butler, CMC, DJ, Burns, Brown, Horn, Ickey, Bryce, XL, T-Mac Really a wild run over 25 years -

Yea first round isn’t accurate. But there have been several players we over drafted instead of taking the obvious pick. -

I mean, to be fair, we've really only missed on 2 first round picks since 2016, they just happened to be the last 2 years before hitting again this year with T-Mac. Hell, looking back even further, we're just historically great at not screwing up the 1st round since 2001. The worst 1st round picks we've had since then are... XL, Bryce, Butler, Otah, and KB. The next worst pick other than those 5 since 2001 would probably be between Star and Ickey. -

It wasn’t out of the blue tho. They just played the Jets and Wilkes is their DC.

Kind of like Smitty and his Blood and Guts return to BOA?

Yeah I think stuff is in his head big time. I bet he reads the net and saw what people were saying about him, all offseason. Which I thought was unfair (and telling, that a lot of people who won’t hear a bad word about Bryce, went all in on XL). Then he fuged up the 1st play of that preseason game getting thrown out. Then the first game he pulls a couple of bonehead moves, probably saw people talking about him more. It isn’t good in any event but feeling hate from your fan base probably did a number on him. Seems like a real nice guy, that maybe is too sensitive. I am sure someone will try to help I’m get his mind wrapped around how he Has to respond and if he goes into a shell and doesn’t fight back it’s over for him. -
This is so funny to me. First off you're comparing a 3rd year player against HOFs. Every QB you just mentioned is a HOF level talent. That's why I said current QBs, but anyway. So you think Manning made Thomas and Sanders? What did they do after he retired? Edelman is better than any WR this team has ever had except Smitty. TBD with Tmac. Dude was a pro bowl level punt returner before he started getting WR touches because of guys like Welker and Randy Moss! He was such a good athlete that he even played CB in big moments. Frigging Super Bowl MVP! Brees wasn't Brees in SD and he never had a squad as bad as this one. Cam, I'll give you that. But we're talking 2015 Cam only. Every other year he had better receiving targets including 3rd leg Greg. And Aaron Rodgers. Really? He sat behind a HOF QB for 3 years before he even started. And then he had Driver and Jennings. You're trying to argue just to argue. The truth is BY's rookie season has one player that's still contributing on an NFL team, kind of - Thielen. Second season, not much better. This season, at least he has a #1 talent even if he is a rookie.

You look for motivation anywhere you can get it. I've worked in sales my entire career. Do I relish every opportunity I get to take business away from a former employer? You damn right I do. LOL

About the Hail Mary… you probably saw but if not, we just went over that a few days ago and I learned that maybe Reich did that to piss Tepper off (heh) and that Bryce was really pissed and so was Tepper. I had intended to search out the replay of that game and look at Reich and Bryce in that moment, for fun. And look at the um, postgame, um, press conference. Haven’t done it. We are talking 50 yards. Definitely not 60. I think I maybe have seen 45 yards in a game but him throwing 50 yards, IMO, is probably gonna look like a rainbow and take a longer time to get to the target. He has to hit the driver to get that distance, can’t use the three wood or 2 iron like the big boys. Like most NFL QBs. It is kind of like Pinero, his leg is good for what it is good for but anything over a certain distance, you just can’t do. We moved on, and bang! 57 yarder. We can try them now. Said it plenty but I just don’t want that kind of limitation put on my favorite football team. Edit: and on the video of that beautiful TD to AT that was about 50 air yards? Announcers called it a rainbow lol. Anyhow, that needs to be tried more because I guarantee AT was behind those guys because they didn’t expect them to try that. If you do that more maybe you get them playing a little more off.

windows exist for basically every great QB. Go look at what Peyton turned into a top 5 O his first year in Denver with John Fox. They had nothing there worth talking about. He made Thomas. Go look at what Brady did when Gronk got hurt. He made Edelman. Brees, Lamar, Cam, Rodgers and on and on. the entire reason the Panthers could sell their fanbase on mortgaging our future on Bryce….was because they claimed he could do what these dudes could do. Which is make water out of wine when needed. Not that you want it to be that way every season. But good QBs can 100% can elevate and create players when need be
-
This is wading into waters that will rustle jimmies. Ultimately if you are a QB needy team that hasn't had a winning season in near a decade you start with a guy who has the necessary physical traits to largely put the ball where he wants to on any given down and build from there. That's not what the Panthers did.
-
You threw out some random what if scenario that has nothing to do with what anyone was talking about. So I did the same thing.

Agree with this entire post. My "looking at strike three" comment was referring to Mack's last few years where he was on cruise control.

Thanks I see the thread now and I agree I think Baker is being petty and immature

I think he proven he doesn’t have the arm to throw some of the tougher out routes. Too risky of a pick. I think he has proven he doesn’t have the arm to make a lot to tougher throws downfield when you can get him moving backward or not having an ideal setup. Teddy Bridgewater could lob it 50+. That’s not a measure of an NFL arm

From the 50 yard line, you say? Man, there are cameras everywhere these days. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/iBZY75KLCwE

I don’t think that worked like you think it worked there
