  1. Past hour
  2. If Bryce cannot elevate himself to a top 15 QB with the pieces we have put around him and the resume we were sold before the draft then he was never that guy to begin with. Can we please stop invoking Cam Newton in defense of our first overall pick? Newton was rookie of the year in a lockout season when many many people here on the huddle said he was a one productive college season project who wouldn't do much and should sit behind Billy Volek. He took relentless grief from the media and this fanbase over the years for just trying to bring a better culture to the Carolinas.
  3. I wouldn't be opposed to Moehrig if we hadn't paid him like a guy who can cover.
  4. "This year" is a bit misleading with how cap hits in contracts work. Looking at average per year contract value, Hamilton is #1 and while technically having a higher run grade, I mean c'mon... Kerby Joseph is #2 Antoine Winfield Jr. is #3. LOL @ the Bucs
  5. It could be because teams are typically in nickle and using an extra cb to defend the pass so they opt for safety that needs to be more similar to a linebacker
  6. Exactly. I noticed that as well.
  7. Cause the league is swinging back to being a run first league.
  8. He was acquitted on all charges, but gotta wonder with the release if something else is coming up
  9. I live just NW of Charlotte near Lake Norman.
  10. Well I'm going to have to take that back I suppose. I had forgotten about him spending time on the commissioners exempt list for domestic violence and cocaine. Suffice to say we aren't the ideal destination to try and keep someone with off field concerns on the straight and narrow.
  11. I think every single poster on this board knows this is a make or break year for BY and knows he hasn't been consistent enough to warrant a big contract extension. I also think there are several posters here (CRA, LG in particular) who will never be happy with our QB situation unless we have a top 4 QB like Burrow, Allen, Jackson or Mahomes (and I'm fairly certain they would be bitching at Lamar if he was our QB). Getting a player like that is extremely rare and is something the Panthers haven't done in 30 years... and there's a good chance they will be waiting the rest of their lives as well because the Panthers have been a fairly unlucky franchise and are owned by someone who wants instant gratification. So for those hoping these conversations will go away, they never will. Cam had a lot of the same negative posts here as well except for one season. It's just part of being in the Panthers fandom
  12. It makes too much sense so it’ll never happen. It’s the panthers way
  13. If that’s true, why were the top 4 highest FA safeties this year all above 70 run grade and below 60 coverage grade? While Peppers is getting cut?
  14. Luvu is viewed by a lot of people as a top 10 linebacker, and we said no thanks. Dre Greenlaw is viewed by a lot of people as a top 10 linebacker, has been getting raved about in Denver camp, was a unrestricted FA looking for a starting spot, and we said "we'd rather give a backup DT more money" Two extremely puzzling decisions considering our 32nd ranked LB core and our GM is a freaking ILB, but I guess it's possible that both really didn't want to come/stay here
  15. Nothing emotional about it it is called pride if my Fortune 500 company cut me, no way in sweet hell would I leave the one that treated me well, gave me a raise and resurrected my career for one that didnt value me and kicked my ass to the curb but that is me everyone is different the same with Cam Newton. No way would I come back to have butts in the seats for Tepper and Rhule.
  16. Today
  17. Renfrow deserved a spot on this team.the film I saw was him running hard cutting hard and catching balls.the guy should be playing for the panthers he would make us better.
  18. If it was said Julius Peppers is available, I would listen.
  19. Look like the perfect compliment to me.
  20. Those are the types of safeties you can get on the cheap. Safeties get paid for coverage unless you're stuck in the 80s and 90s.
  21. I mean most of us would be thrilled to see a reversal of fortune for the pick. But it seems to be a longshot right now. Furthermore the whole point of drafting RB's is to get the most production through their rookie contract. Which we have not done.
  22. Ummmmm Chinn and Luvuu have worked out pretty well so far
  23. I don’t think better version is the right phrase. Even looking at their grades, you can see they’re extremely different players. One is an elite run defender that struggles in coverage and can get to the QB when asked. The other is coverage first, and does not get to the QB when asked. after what I saw on the field last season I still have 0 issues at all with us getting a safety who can enforce run d
