We won 2 games and had the worst passing offense in the league and probably in decades with Thielen leading the team in receptions two years ago. Some people are acting like we traded a hall of fame WR.
-
I think TMac and XL are listed as the starters but obviously we will be playing more than 2 WR on most formations so Coker prob is a starter in that aspect.
-
I think Theilan dropped a pass from Bryce in the first preseason game. He is washed, on the decline, over the hill (joking, but not joking.) He's still serviceable. Overall, it's a win-win situation. AT gets to go home, Panthers get a little compensation and we're already loaded at the WR position. AT has been Bryce's fav target but I agree with other Huddlers that if our offense is contingent on a 35 year old WR to be explosive, we are in trouble!
-
Long term, I don't hate it. It's mostly about timing. Our QB is about to enter his 3rd year and we're selling off the best proven WR we have right before the season starts. We can't even use the saved salary on anything else to improve the team for this year. Long term moves are good, but was this really the right timing? We'll see.

Coker in the slot could be very entertaining
-
A new excuse has just been created. He doesn't have any receivers that are experienced and know the NFL game well enough to be relied on.
-
vikes pickup his $7mil this year too. this is a solid deal and it's time bryce leaves the thielen nest and spread his wings. I remember we got rid of smith as well so Cam could take up more of the leadership role. Theilen served his purpose as a dependable vet to help the young QB but it's year 3 now. time for the next step. got mid teir draft picks and more $$$ for a 34 year old injury prone wr. this is a win.
-
Agreed, it’s just that Mr. supercomputer knows every tendency of every defender on the team and all 3 pages of Evero’s playbook.
-
So for now Coker, our 2nd year UDFA, is by default the most reliable WR on this team?! You serious, Clark? You know he is low key celebrating this. Until Tet takes a true NFL snap, Coker has the highest floor in the team as Tet is an unknown. I feel like Tet will be a dawg for us, but again, it’s still an unknown. Knowing that Thielen was out may have influenced them keeping Moore. It’s going to be fun to see this play out.
-
See that's why so many convos here get into the weeds and contentious. Folks are more than eager to groan about a lack of offensive young talent then when we do have good young talent (two first round WR's and a young Jalen Coker) they say that talent isn't good enough. You expect top tier play from the moving parts within the offense at all times but you'll accept literally anything from the signal caller and call it progress. Doesn't make sense.
-
This is what rebuilding looks like. A 4th rounder and no salary? Smart GM.
-
Losing Renfrow because you cut him for a day or two instead of putting him on PUP is the most Tepper-era Panthers thing ever.
-
Will be interesting. I remember the first game after we traded KB and everything seems to flow better. Maybe this will help Bryce. Maybe it won’t. Opening day need to get here ASAP.
-
So would most any offensive skill player with talent and experience.
-
A lot of things about this can be true at the same time. Was he our most reliable wr? Yes But he was also injured a chunk of last year, we had to buy him out of retirement, he had 1 foot out the door and the other in minny, we aren't going to the superbowl this year, we only had him for this year, we need to see how our young wr are and we need to see who Bryce really is. Thielen was at most a 3 or 4. Getting the return we did while not eating salary was solid. Thielen put up with this circus for years. We did him right and I wish him thr best in minny
-
This time last year Coker was unemployed and we fans were routing for him to make PS. Now he's our starting slot receiver! Attaboy Coke!
-
That's the total number of catches our WR corps has in the NFL
-
Glad to see we don’t play MN this year because AT would MURDER our defense. He would beat the brakes off of em.
-
I could have told you that before this trade. They've been hinting all off-season that this isn't the year for playoffs
-
Not if they can't catch or get open.
-
That would have pissed me off
-
We did right by AT and got some comp. It's time to see if these young dudes can play and step up. People acting like we need to sit XL so he can learn...if that's the case, we drafted wrong. Can't be spending first round picks on project WR's who can't even start. Be better or be gone.

Fitt put too much faith in Rhule’s opinion.
