How many games before they pull the plug for good
mav1234 replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
At some point this season I hope I can say Bryce Young is why we won a game that mattered, and not just that he isn't the reason we lost a game. This is a third year pro, not a backup, and we've invested a ton into this offense... Including him. -
CRA started following This video perfectly sums up Bryce Young/Carolina IMO
-
Entire Panther team is all together getting ready for their drive to start. This is the 13:26 minute mark in the second quarter. Well, except for one player off by himself. It's Bryce uniquely separated from the group just chilling. What do you think Bryce is doing? Hyping up teammates? Getting on the same page for the upcoming drive? Nah, he is consumed w/ the Jaguars jumbotron and the silly games they are showing the fans. What happens his very FIRST pass of that drive? Interception where he doesn't see the S streaking down right in front of him. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DOWX3HJiWix/
-
So you think that the play is solely Bryce's fault and that all 31 other QBs turn that play into a passing TD in spite of an incorrect route from WR1, immediate blindside pressure, a lazy route on the opposite side, and WR2 not on the same page as the QB? That's a lot of oversimplification just to be able to blame one player.

Is Tepper going to clean the house again after this season?
Gapanthersfan replied to Lame Duck's topic in Carolina Panthers
The thing with cleaning house… who the hell wants to actually work for Tepper?! What good coach with options would take that gig? There are literally 31 better teams to work for…. This is the WORST place for a coach to work… and it’s not even close. Auto-firing staff after 1-2 years will only make things worse. If candidates know they are going to be auto-fired when being dumped in to an impossible situation, then why even apply? Tepp has to show candidates that he’s calmed the f down. The best thing is for him to not make any major franchise decisions for a while. Just imagine where we would be right now with Wilks, Darnold, Foreman, Luvu, Moore, the king’s ransom they were offered for Burns and the picks they traded away for Young… tell me with a straight face that blowing all of that up was the right move compared to where we are today. Wilks and Darnold were bridges to a better place. My point being, EVERY major franchise decision from Tepp has been a disaster. He blows everything up, even if it shows signs of potential. He has refused to hire a ‘my way or no way’ type coach with proven NFL success. I promise you he doesn’t have a friend in the entire building. besides changing out Evero who has been given years to make it work, this is the best case scenario for the foreseeable future until the next draft. I don’t think Canales is the right coach for the job, but tying him to Young isn’t fair. He deserves at least another season with his own guy that he chooses. -
Yeah, he did. But what absolutely killed any chance of success is that our QB panicked and sailed the ball through the endzone uncatchable. That's why the focus is on that. Why do we need to do all these mental gymnastics to keep trying to come up with excuses to cover for the worst starting QB in the NFL over the past three years? What else do we kneed to see from him to admit he ain't ir? You don't trade up to #1 overall to draft a QB that needs everything to go perfectly to succeed. You're doing that because you think you're drafting a guy who can carry an offense.

He needed another year as DC to get the team a draft pick. Had they let him walk before this season the Panthers get nothing. The irony is that they will get nothing anyway as no team will hire him as a HC. I'm not sure he could get another DC job at this point. -

How many games before they pull the plug for good
Khyber53 replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
As much as I want to gnash my teeth and say that he's not going to make it, there's some wisdom in your observations. There was less to really blame on Bryce than we want to. He wasn't great, but he wasn't the reason we lost that game. Our o-line wasn't working well. Corbett couldn't make the snaps and was ass as a blocker. Our back-up LT wasn't prepared for the ferocious (really???) Jacksonville pass rush. We weren't getting much push from the line in the running game, once again lacking at center and LT. Our receivers could NOT get open to save themselves. And when they did make a catch, it was tackle and down. But our offense really didn't lose that game. Our defense did. Our defense may suck worse than it did last season and it's glaringly obvious that it has been poorly coached, poorly built and poorly used once it is out on the field. And Bryce, well, he doesn't play defense. But then again, not sure many of our players can. -
I hope they make him play us to top pick if thats what's in the cards
-
I've yet to see you acknowledge that Nijman immediately gave up pressure inside and that TMac ran the wrong route. Why do you not believe that those incidents didn't have any effect on the play? It's strange to focus on an errant throw during a broken play without being realistic about what broke down when.

Jared Feinberg's Panthers v Jaguars film review
Puresteel55 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was at the game also and I saw things much differently. What I saw was a Smurf trying to play NFL QB and getting upset when he realized he couldn’t. His frustration permeated the entire team. We will never know what we have in the other areas of this team as long as BY is the QB. Time to move on….NOW! -

I was talking about this year after last year. They signed up for a year 3 after last year. No one guessed how bad he would be in 2024 but they did this year and still went with it. -
XL was a wasted pick, we all kinda knew it at the time but wanted to try to give a 23 year old rookie the benefit of the doubt. TMac you grab 10/10 times in the draft, doesn't matter. If there is a legit bonafide #1 WR you can get for 3 years cheap (and you don't already have one) you always do that. Either Bryce turns it around or our rookie QB next year has a young star WR.

50% of his passing yards were in the final 8 minutes of the 4th quarter.

People love emotional reactions

The fallacy in this is you're comparing Bryce's "what ifs" against others "actuals". You would need to give every other QB all the same breaks. Herbert probably had 650 yards and 5 TDs by these metrics
-
Half of BY's yards came after we were down 2 scores. He is not a NFL QB. Why the f draft back to back receivers in the first round if all he is going to do is dump it off for 75 yards a half?

Is Tepper going to clean the house again after this season?
Jon Snow replied to Lame Duck's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think it's only a matter of time before it all comes crashing down, again. The joyous coach routine is only going to go so far when your losing. Pep talks and encouragement doesn't make them a better team. Coaching may only be 10 to 20% of the success of a team but it is of major importance to get that right. Tepper has created a serious problem for the future of this team. -
Tepper ruins everything

Yep its extremely concerning either way. Either Canales is a cuck who won't drop the nice guy act behind the scenes and lets assistants dictate or Tepper meddled (probably what happened) and promised Evero control and that was part of Canales getting the offer. -

AceMan replied to Lame Duck's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think if everything continues to be mostly the fault of the Coach + surrounding talent (Offense and Defense) and not on Bryce; you got to clean house. I only think Tepper will do it if we are like 1-13 going into our bye week though. -

I don't think we really need to go that long. I'd rather see if the third QB on our roster could be a backup or something. Highly unlikely he'll bring us any wins. So let's send Bryce packing if things continue to stink this bad. We need a real QB to find out about Coker/XL. Tet seems set as a good to great WR. But I get what you're saying too. Id just rather not check out of another Panthers season at game 2. -
