ESPN's Benjamin Solak on Panthers QB situation
t96 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think the only reason someone might say this is by not watching him and merely looking at the stat sheet and particularly turnovers. Bryce doesn’t turn the ball over nearly as much as some other prohibitively bad QBs. But that’s because he’s scared to do anything with the ball lol. I’d much rather have Jameis’ turnovers than Bryce’s when it comes with the potential for 5000 passing yards and 30 TDs instead of 2000 and 15 -

The retread QB market is like a pick and pull. It’s not pretty. -

We are in QB purgatory. There is nobody worth a poo in the draft or FA. Might as well ride out the Bryce experiment for 1 more year. -
Who cares? If he gets his feelings hurt so be it. Let him find a team willing to trade for him or sit out. That would be the fly on top of the heaping pile of dinosaur crap this entire situation has been. Let Tepper deal with that in the media because IDGAF.

I know I will get hate for this but other than Geno (who I think is going to be the guy we target) I actually wouldn't mind Trevor. The money aspect would be very difficult to figure out but he at least has the talent to be a good QB. -

Bennett reminds me too much of Bryce. Undersized with a limited arm who was on a stacked team in college. Throw in him having some off the field issues and I'm not excited about him. Reminds me of Bryce without the Bryce's character which is one of his good traits. -

Kyler Murray is the answer to what if Bryce was a natural athlete but had no idea how to play QB in the NFL? -

I just didn't like what I saw still in preseason play. Bennett was the guy I thought looked most capable this preseason of running a starting offense out of any of these league-wide backups. -

The thought of Kyler being successful in Canales offense is hilarious, he’s never takes snap under center for a reason. And Mac Jones is more physically limited than Bryce, he looks good know cause every QB in Shanahan’s offense looks good. They need to bring in Geno Smith or Jamies a gun slinger who doesn’t give a crap about throwing interception -

In my opinion yes. I am convinced they are following direct orders from Tepper and have not been allowed to rip off the Band-Aid. -

When you’re winning games behind 100 passing yards and multiple turnovers a game you’re doing a good coaching job. I honestly don’t think he has the authority to replace Bryce yet because tepper -

Funny thing is Levis actually played better than Ward in Tennessee. Not saying we should sign him but something to think about. I believe Mac Jones is under contract. The reason I lean Lance is age, ceiling, and he was always a prospect that needed to sit. He has learned under Shanny, McCarthy, and Harbaugh now and actually looked comfortable running an offense in the preseason. He beat out Heincke as QB2 at LAC as well. Plus he wouldn’t cost anything other than his contract as he is a FA. Willis is another one to consider. -

The answer? Nah. A reasonable option as our QB2 who is still only 25 (younger than Shough same age as Nix) with still a potential ceiling? Yes. I’d love Lance as QB2 and a mid/late round developmental rookie to go with him. -
We lived in empty sets from the gun down the stretch. You can only do that for so long. You need to be able to add some dimensions to an offense. If your QB limits your ability to do so, you've got the wrong guy under center.

Think I'd probably look at Bennett & Sitdham the closest. They could match what we're trying to do a bit better than others. Have the combination real playing time and not being some sad sack of a bust status. -

It's not about finding the answer, no body we trade for or sign will be the answer, it's about finding someone to compete with Bryce for a year in this scenario. -

I would take a guy like Stetson Bennet or Jarret Stidham over some of the suggested. Others that could be of interest would be Rattler(don’t think a NO trade is out of the cards given their state) and McKee. Kyler is not happening Lawrence probably not (but you never know) Mac Jones will be the popular one I imagine we get tied to. Hell no to Fields, Lance, Levis, etc Howell and Henicke would’ve been the types to have here instead of Dalton this season. -
We're just setting up the league to open things up downfield. Don't worry, once opposing teams overload the box, out of desperation, BY9 will start throwing downfield again. Mind you, it takes Canales at least two games to make an adjustment, but when he does, Bryce will earn himself that extension.

Nobody is suggesting he is the answer. They are suggesting he can throw the ball further than 10 yards.
