  1. Past hour
  2. I think it’s made it difficult to move on when the entire operation has been dysfunctional. And that has resulted in amplified resentment towards Bryce as the QB. If he doesn’t improve significantly we need to move on but let’s base it on performance not the “I like my QB big and strong” argument which some can’t get past
  3. ding There's enough players on this offense that you could do something with just reliable QB play and like, one extra WR. The Panthers need a pass rusher and a ILB. We're not trying to win a superbowl next season; we are trying to be competitive in every game. That means ditching bryce for literally anything, getting to the QB, stopping the run. They need to play Fox Ball.
  4. Woof, that's a rough list. I know UNC homers will bang the drum for Trubisky and Howell. The Colts ain't letting Indiana Jones leave. Again, slim pickings. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/_/year/2026/position/qb I'd take a swing on Tray Lance in a competition scenario.
  5. Bryce Young is “very much above average”? That some propaganda level stuff.
  6. If you can’t tell the team has improved from last year to this year, it’s apparent you don’t watch games. The only thing that hasn’t improved is the QB who had statistically been the same since 2023.
  7. They could sign a vet replacement level QB and keep building the roster.
  8. I get that. Mine is that he was affected by the AT trade more than anyone. That was his guy, his vet so to speak. I've heard about those bonds in athlete led podcasts and interviews. He definitely gave a ton more effort yesterday, in the run game as well as route running. He made a difficult catch look easy and had a whole different demeanor. Let's hope he keeps it up.
  9. When do we upgrade at QB, then? Or should we? We know Young is good for approximately 4-5 wins a year. This is what Tepper meant when not settling for mediocrity, apparently.
  10. Stupid. Rozeboom and Wallace played well yesterday and who the fug else were they going to play? Ransom had the most smaps this week and was arguably the worst defender on the field for us yesterday.
  11. Nobody takes them seriously.
  12. It's been mentioned, and I tend to agree with this, that they were keeping him on the bench as a reserve tackle. That he's too valuable to use at guard because he can play either tackle position if there's an injury there. I don't agree with that; Panthers aren't talented enough or in a position to get cute like that. It also speaks to the limitations of the coaching staff that they don't want to add coaching BC as a guard all week to their responsibilities, but this is clearly a poorly coached offensive unit.
  13. They don't need to spend their first round pick on a QB.
  14. Dude is awesome. God forbid anybody shows some excitement. Enthusiastic guys are always going to get hate from miserable, angry bastards. When he shows some objectivity and acts excited over a Saints play is when everyone will turn on him and hate him.
  15. canales looking up from his playchart, going "whaaaaaa" then looking back down, like me when I'm on my phone and someone is telling me a boring ass story
  16. Smart by McDavid, gave the Oilers a discount and two years to help him get a cup. If that doesn’t happen then he goes to the highest bidder once some of that massive TV money hits. Potentially a contract in the $25M AAV range.
  17. Dud: DC Ejiro Evero "The Panthers defense had some bright spots this week, but still too many weaknesses - and there's been no effort at all to change things up and minimize them. Apparently since head coach Dave Canales has no control over this defense, the blame has to fall on defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, who should have yanked Trevin Wallace, Christian Rozeboom and Nick Scott weeks ago." Dud: HC Dave Canales "There are plenty of little problems that are worth criticizing Canales for. The operation on offense is stll far too messy in general there are too many pre-snap penalties especially. When it comes to lineup decisions, there are plenty of players getting time they don't deserve - DeeJay Dallas was added to the list this week. Then there's how Canales is misusing his talents - like having Jimmy Horn Jr. function as a jet-sweep-only kind of weapon. Worst of all was the lack of passion that Canales showed in the third quarter when he officials made an egregious reversal that cost his team a huge first down. Tetairoa McMillan was mauled by Jack Jones as he tried to reel in a deep catch, and initially they threw a flag but then withdrew it. Canales' reaction was far too understated considering the situation, and it speaks once again to the lack of urgency in his coaching. The comeback win is nice, but the Panthers deserve someone who's going to get angry when that happens, and Canales just doesn't seem to have it in his DNA. (Scroll down)https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/carolina-panthers-miami-dolphins-studs-duds-bryce-young-rico-dowdle-dave-canales I agree with most everything that was said, by the way. From Bryce's turnovers and lack of production, to making Scourton and Umanmielen the starters at outside linebacker. I don't know who we'd put in for Rozeboom though. He's likely our best option at MLB until next season. It's good to get a win, but we need more consistency with getting the players, whether they're rookies or not, that give us the best chance to win the games in the damned games. You can take it all with a grain of salt. I'm no fan of Young or Evero, and highly skeptical of Canales, and it seems that Tim Weaver feels the same way.
  18. The guy from Marshall with the Jets, Pennington I think, had a weak arm but he had some size. He lasted a few years but never did much. The team says ‘it’s a big man’s game” and drafts a historically small player over every single other player. He doesn’t have ‘plus” anything and has a minus arm. It will never make sense.
  19. Canales is a no win situation in my opinion. Bryce can’t run his offense so Canales is having to coach the same way Wilks did when he went 6-6 as the interim head coach filling in for Reich. Dowdle threw up 200+ for Canales but a few years ago Foreman put up 160+ for Wilks in the same type of game as yesterdays. But at the end of the day (shoutout Matt Rhule), this type of offense peaks at .500. A Trent Dilferesque QB, a Jamal Lewisesque running back, and an elite 2000’s Ravensesque defense won’t win you a Super Bowl anymore. We need above average to elite QB play and the only hope now is that our scouting department can find one in the middle of round one because this team is in .500 purgatory.
  20. Yes, we will be just good enough to be out of reach of the top QBs. Then we will have to ride with Young once again and lustfully look at the '27 QB class where we will also be picking 8th only to miss out on that crop of top QBs.
  21. Kinda a red flag that Christensen only gets pt with multiple injuries, dude clearly can play
  22. Bro, this Brees is Bryce thing was debunked two years ago. He isn’t a comparison other than he had trouble seeing over the linemen. The physical comparison just doesn’t stand up to scrutiny. Look for yourself. Be honest about what you think Bryce is, size wise. I come to 185 5’10” Brees you see 6’0” to 6’1” and 205 to 210 lbs. Give Brees 3” and 20-25 pounds he is up there near the prototypes. Give Bryce 3” and 25 lbs, he is Brees.
  23. Yeah, Darnold is basically a really high level game manager. Put him on a good team where he isn't required to provide lift and he can shine. But when you need him to do the franchise QB thing and put the team in his back here comes the INTs. He just doesn't seem to have any positions on his dial between "super conservative take whatever's there and take care of the ball" and "YOLO!!! There's a receiver down there somewhere in that sea of defenders!"
  24. See, it's posts like this that show me how many of you are taking my post as an anti Dowdle post and saying he didn't have a good game, but that's the furthest thing from my intention and what I'm trying to say. Because that's the comparison you're making with Bryce, it's adding or removing a small handful of plays from their stats and saying "this is the game they could have had instead" I'm literally only talking about the play calling from the game, it's literally in the title of the thread, that we still have play calling problems. I'm saying that people are going to get stuck on the 200 yard rushing game by a player and extrapolate that to "well Canales must have called a good game" and I'm trying to say not to fall for that mirage. Because 6 big runs do not make for a well called game when we had over 60 snaps. Even beyond that, if you add in the two 20+ yard catches from T-Mac and the one XL had, and you're looking at 9 of over 60 snaps that accounted for close to 60% of our yards in the game. That's a few big plays covering up for coaching deficiencies, that's NOT a well called 60 minutes of football. You don't beat good football teams by having a handful of good plays a game scattered amongst boring predictable play calling. Had he had the 200 yards because Canales' play calling was keeping the defense on their heels, not knowing what we were doing next, and Dowdle was ripping of 8-12 yard runs on a consistent basis, then yea, that would be something to be excited about with Canales finally calling a good game for a change. Our offense is predictable and the play design is basic, there is nothing I've seen out of Canales' offense that says he's able to scheme and call plays to outsmart the defense, which is something all the elite offensive coaches are able to do in this day and age.
