I’m not sure people understand how fuging bad it is
SmokinwithWilly replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers
I guarantee that was part of the pitch when they drafted him. Guaranteed starter from day 1 his entire rookie contract. Judging by the QB room and how they've played it so far, they're holding up their end of the bargain. -
Pretty much this. Love Cam but he needs to take a look in the mirror and realize he's becoming what he despised as a player.

I thought I saw Chuba pause slightly, as if he was going to throw to Sanders, but maybe the DBs already had the play diagnosed and blew it up.

I just can't pin it on DC. The guy is constantly walking on eggshells due to Bryce's inconsistencies and timid nature. He had WR's open and Bryce didn't hit them. He asked his first overall pick to take on the spotlight and he didn't. Yes we should have ran Rico. But Bryce could have ran that first TD in. T Mac open on that crosser but Bryce hesitated. I think DC is asking Bryce to show us who he is, and is paying the consequences until A. Bryce gets his poo together, B. Bryce flames out and we get another QB. Biggest mistake imo was going for 2pt in the 3rd qtr. That hurt our momentum. Just take the FG and see how it plays out. Or if you're going to do it all, give Rico a chance. -

Two trivial things about Canales that drives me nuts 1. His use of nicknames for grown ass men ‘t mo. D mo.’ And on and on 2. His freaking word salad with things like ‘come alive’ as if they ate some offensive juggernaut And example below ‘Offensively, just could not get our rhythm going. And really it just started off with the run game. I have to make sure that that comes alive’ Dave, here’s a phrase for your offense DOA -
Exactly, to the point that this dude is answering everyone's posts individually and questioning Cam Newton as a player over it. This schmuck even said if Kasay could've ran down the field and stopped the ball from going out of bounds he would have. People continuing to show Cam and that fumble gif after he drug the team to a championship appearance in a MVP season, with Mike Shula as his OC, and MIke Remmers as his starting OT is proof of how much people dislike him for non football reasons! And that's the triple truth Ruth!

I gotta be honest, this feels like more than just bad coaching. This feels like proving a point. I'm really beginning to wonder if the only way to get Bryce off this team is to prove he can't step up when it matters. No coach can really be this stupid can they? I've said for a long time there appears to be some sort of mandate from higher up that is forcing Bryce into the starting role and keeping him there regardless of what any metric or eye test says. Now whether that's Morgan or Tepper at this point, this feels like Canales may be trying to prove that Atlanta is the anomaly, Bryce isn't the guy, and he needs a new QB, and the only way to show that is to get humiliated on prime time, since the only thing Tepper seems to respond to is national embarrassment. Of course, I could be 4d chessing this thing way too much, and if I am, maybe I should be the next HC for 50m bucks. If I'm wrong and Canales really is this stupid, lawd help us all. -

He owes it to his best offensive player to sit down and have the conversation. Listen man, I got caught up in the game and I thought I saw opportunities there and I fuged up. I'm sorry. I should've fed you the ball. -
Coaching and a massive lack of execution which falls on Canales. Monday nights loss was 100% on him. Dave Canales continues to put this team at a disadvantage week in and out with personnel decisions. So far we’ve seen him go with Corbett over Mays. Killed Rico’s momentum by having him split carries with Chuba. Went back to not taking advantage of using TMac in the slot last night after doing so last week (only 5/29 routes ran last night were from the slot). Only lets Bryce get comfortable in gun and spread when the score dictates it. Taking a point off the board to go for 2 and call a passing play. Concedes the opening drive after a penalty. We need a weekly Zavala injury to happen for Dave to give Curhan who is the much better guard, playing time. As far as execution goes the all-22 is gross. Sooooo many examples of guys doing the wrong thing and blowing up plays and this again falls on Dave Play 1: https://x.com/tacostweets/status/1993313315607449693?s=46&t=W75E23VenL1ei42iX22E5g The interception in the end zone. This is on Tremble. Tremble is supposed to run along the goal line and take Brown with him. Instead he runs towards back pylon allowing defender to make a play on the ball. Canales mentioned someone running the wrong route during his post game presser. That person would be Tremble. Play 2: https://x.com/tacostweets/status/1993348090447773888?s=46&t=W75E23VenL1ei42iX22E5g Play 3: https://x.com/rickyboboddy/status/1993367670369272068?s=46&t=W75E23VenL1ei42iX22E5g Play 4: https://x.com/rickyboboddy/status/1993356332674552137?s=46&t=W75E23VenL1ei42iX22E5g Sanders decides he doesn’t feel like blocking on this swing pass to Chuba which should’ve been a touchdown. Add in a couple of drops. A terrible missed DPI call and this game was a complete disaster. The highs and lows are in large due to Canales. This guy hits the nail on the head I’m guessing Dave overcompensates this week and comes out running the ball no matter what while the Rams are putting up 7’s on us real quick. Should be fun…

Passing momentum sounds like something Tepper would say during their weekly meetings -

Lol Rico isn't coming back regardless lol. DC isn't a terrible HC but he also isn't good. He is a solid OC way over his head and another year isn't changing that IMO. -

there is a reason, NFL teams don't do that though. It creates weird dynamics. There is no point, having the #1 overall QB, who was drafted to be the franchise, who is presently wearing the C patch on his jersey......to occupy the role as the #2. You simply move on from him. You just trade him for peanuts. You move on. What is the rationale for keeping him rostered and how does that outweigh the negatives for keeping him. Bryce Young doesn't compare to all these random QBs with elite NFL QB traits. He has never shown their highs or tools. The we have to keep him so he doesn't go somewhere do make us look dumb mentality just ain't something I endorse. He doesn't have the tools to go make us look stupid elsewhere.
-
Being under contract means little in the NFL. There isn't a QB on the team that should be here next year regardless of contract. If Youbg isn't good enough to pick up his 5th the smart play is to move him, by trade or by release. He isn't good enough to start so make room and start swinging elsewhere is the only good move at this point. Someone else already made posts about why you don't keep guys who you are not picking up their 5th year option and it's valid.

The only Tepper defenders that exist are. the MLS people. I, and basically 90% of the fanbase, would gladly jettison that MLS team to wherever to get rid of Tepper and his terrible ownership which is solely responsible for all our ails. ALL of them. A good staff isn't possible BECAUSE OF DAVID TEPPER. You are correct that he isn't an excuse for a bad FO move or a bad coaching move. But he is 100% responsible for all of them because we are 8 years into this mess. There is no one left he isn't solely responsible for and through many different iterations, we keep failing. We can't even reach a Woody Johnson level of success. It has been and it will always be David Tepper's fault. No amount of being happy about getting an MLS team is going to change that.

His play calling on Monday would get most coaches fired. Panthers could have won by 2 scores by just doing the obvious. It’s so perplexing that one has no choice but to consider nefarious intentions. He wants to be seen as a play calling savant and I honestly believe that he loathes running the ball successfully. -

This idea to try and win with Bryce in this situation was the dumbest in game coaching decision I can recall from this team. So blantly idiotic. -

They never even tried to pretend that he had to win tne job. I hated that. At least make it a fake competition for appearances. Naw, just install him. -

For all the Bryce apologists, the Canales apologists are almost worse. -
I mean, sure, he has made a mess of the football situation with his hires. I'm just saying, he is often overused to take the blame of others who ALSO are bad at their jobs. We see that often. Not just with Tepper. I mean, how many people did we scapegoat and try to give all the blame to before we admitted Matt Rhule was bad at his job. Same for Fitterer. Tepper's other pro team has gone to the postseason in back to back years now. Think they set a MLS record this year too. And they have barely existed. Tepper is not crafting the roster and shaping the team. Others do that for him. The QB room is the way it is because of the big picture hires of David Tepper. But on a practical football level discussion about why we suck at the QB spot and going forward, we got to talk about Dan Morgan. He is the dude doing the bad job there. I'm not trying to deflect any blame from Tepper. I just can't stand how Dan Morgan gets the pass he gets from some and the narrative......Tepper is calling the QB room, and this weird Morgan mantra that he somehow is silently against everything he part of building (not saying that is you but it exists here) I think with a good staff and QB, no one would care about David Tepper. I think Tepper has now limited his ability to get the good staff in the front office and sidelines. In hindsight, the Matt Rhule hire.....might go down as the biggest error in Panther history. Because it's all a snowball from that bad hire.

Canales is a fraud -
I think its been said on here 1000x the likely hood of the panthers simply not extending the 5th and letting him play on the 4rth odds are astronomical. Its just not a viable plan. You either cut ties, extend him or pick up the 5th If they pick up the 5th then they are committing to 2 more years to Bryce and not only that relying on him to keep their jobs. Because if they pick up his 5th and its more of the same you damn well can count on Tepper blowing this up again in 2027

It was not the first time. But it all runs together. I can’t remember if it was him or the year before Frank whee saying during the week they were gonna have to get someone involved more and the game comes and it never happens. Seems to me you make them prove they can stop your run game before you just go to throwing the ball. OTOH I understand setting up the run with the pass as well but throw those backs out there and see what SF can do.
