Doesn't matter. 31 other teams didn't draft an already seriously injured player in the second round. We did. So far we've wasted two years of his lower cost rookie contract. Either way it was a waste we can't afford. Is it the players fault? Of course not. But our FO has to use better judgment. It looks like they've learned something so that's at least a plus.

Most owners would want the projected #1 player at their position -

I would think the boatloads of football players who’ve recovered from ACL injuries would show a mitigated risk for a first round talent. -
Oh he ignored you? I no lie have mrcompletely11 on ignore his takes are trolling at this point. You get on my nerves a bit, but you occasionally have objective takes that make discourse worth while which is more than I can say for him.

But but but Jerry Jones wanted him -
I would think the first one he was currently in the middle of recovering from would be an indicator of risk. And that's why you don't take that risk in the second round.

I agree, but one thing not considered is the discounted draft position we were able to select Brooks with bc of the injury. He would’ve been a first round lock before the injury, so there is a lot of upside to the risk. Unfortunately, it bit us this time with a re-injury, but we weren’t in contention and Brooks might arrive when we are. -
Sounds like after the fact I got what I want now I'm out the door coach speak to me. How he feels about Bryce Young personally ≠ cosigning this QB room. To me he lowkey expressed how he truly felt when he went completely out of his way to very enthusiastically praise a rookie QB who has yet to play a single snap in the regular season and say he could become the face of the league. That says more to me than this coach speak level out the door babble. What's truly goofy is reading someone whailing about having another person on ignore and still daily getting reaction notifications from that person. As usual you're up at 7 am mad af. You have serious psychological problems. At some point the mods need to reel you in if you refuse to get help. Because you are going to have a complete and utter meltdown when this team inevitably struggles.

Observer Projections / *Updated Panthers Waiver Additions

Even with the progress last year we had the 30th passing offense and the 32nd passing offense before that. We're hopeful. That's about the best anyone can say. -
I hope he and we will be far better than expected. I expect a that he and we will be straight trash. We'll see. I'll either be pleasantly surprised or get what I expect, either way I won't be disappointed. I'm done being letdown by Tepper's Panthers.

he likely had a ruptured appendix or just good ole appendicitis. Surgery is recommended either way

Same. My tv stayed on ESPN ALL DAY LONG. Stuart Scott and Rich Eisen changed the game! Chris Berman was a one man gang especially with football and baseball! Now the announcers are a heck of a lot louder and prettier, but not nearly as entertaining. I just can't do it.

I've got hopes for this season. And I want to see Bryce hit his potential this year. He's in a better position than before to do it, but it's also a training wheels off situation now that AT has gone back to the land of Skol! I'm still worried about our defense, but that's scheme as much as players. Still, I've been wrong before. Maybe there will be a certain magic that happens this year. Sure would be great. Either way, it's my team, whether it's cheers or tears.
-
To the OP's point, my preseason concerns aren't from BY. Run defense without D. Brown, pass rush, receivers playing like they're young, and play calling. Still hopeful because Dave and Evero weren't calling plays. We'll see in a week.

I don’t know the kid looks fast to me and he is tough as nails! He takes a beating every game he is in but bounces back.

Fair, but thats why drafting a rb with a knee injury isnt often done. Its a risk. Even if the %s are only slightly higher, averaged over enough drafts, those decisions begin to work against you. The pick for a bumber of reasons, was a bad % decision. -
I don't know that anyone is hating on Bryce. I would think we all want him to put it together. I just have to ask though...did you watch our preseason games? We have plenty of reasons to be concerned.

Everything revolves around Bryce This Year
TLGPanthersFan replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah but at least that QB would be not short. I keep going back to the fact other than Wilson no other short QB has ever won a Super Bowl. The success rate of short QBs is very, very low. Like count on one hand low. Yeah some people would include Brees too but I don’t consider a 6 foot tall QB short, imo. -

I just rewatched all the highlights from after Bryce being benched. The Bryce hate needs to calm down a little bit. He showed a ton of potential the back half of the year. Same with Legette. They both made great plays when it mattered and a few mistakes when it counted. If we didn’t have a historically awful defense last year we could have ended even a bit better. Going into a brand new season we should be optimistic at least before game one. 2015 no one expected to go anywhere and the team steam rolled the league. I’m not saying that will happen, but hopefully we made strides to improve on the end of last year. Bryce put both Super Bowl teams in a battle last year and if we had a better D we could have taken them both. So at least look forward to the season and not past the season until it at least begins.

I’m not mad at Moehrig. He’s great at what he does. And to be honest, a lot of my favorite safeties in our history were box-first type guys - Maxie, Minter, Mike Mitchell, Chris Harris… they’re first and foremost objective was to put people on their backs and coverage was secondary. There is a place for that. There is a definite need for that. Physical guys that set the tone. So cool, we have that in Moerhig. But what we have lacked for the vast majority of our existence is a true free safety that cleans everything up on the back end. Sometimes they come in the form of a JOAT, like Peppers. I think he would be a fantastic compliment to Moehrig’s strengths and weaknesses. If we don’t go after him, I certainly hope Ransom is given the chance to grow and develop in real-time with real game reps, because what he did in preseason was very encouraging to see. I hope he can grow into that roaming center fielder with a little bit of an edge to him as an enforcer as well. He has the tools. In the meantime, adding Peppers would only help.

Everything revolves around Bryce This Year

Option 1 is most likely. Even if he kills it this year, it wouldn't be prudent to rush an extension for one good season. If you have to pay him more because you waited another year, then he earned it. And that's OK. Adjust accordingly. -
Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet. This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
