Tepper is still pulling the strings
Gapanthersfan replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
Unprepared and out of position. It’s the hallmark of the Tepp coaching existence. I know im in the minority, I’m not all that down on the players from a talent perspective. I do believe that there is some good talent there, but the coaching from top to bottom is abysmal. I mentioned it already but it bears repeating: what good positional coach with aspirations of climbing the ladder would EVER sign up here? … and seeing how lost, confused and disjointed every player looks… it makes complete sense. This team: poor fit HC paired with a terrible DC who is being forced to run a scheme that only a select few teams are successful with. Pair this with closed practices free from media and fan criticism and bottom of the barrel position coaches. This is 1000% on Tepp because nobody worth anything would voluntarily work for the dude. I don’t think he’s as handsy as he had been in daily operations, but this whole disaster is on him. He refuses to hire the type of people that would fast track success. He will never hire a ‘my way or no way’ type coach, which is the ONLY thing that would turn this disaster around. -
Tepper is still pulling the strings

Canales is what he's from and that's old school Pete Carroll football. Not gonna change and he needs a big armed QB to run his system. -
This is not counting Moton's contract which will drop us below $40M and into the low 20's for all team cap space. This didn't have to happen, but the brass went all-in on Bryce. We could have let him walk, went with one of our current guys or signed a RT much cheaper. In an ironic kind of way it's going to cement Bryce's downfall if he can't turn it around. If he's not getting pressured/being sacked and he still stinks, we know Bryce has got to go.

Its literally the aspect of quarterbacking that can be most improved by coaching. No one said he was, what he is happens to be a freak athlete who is willing to change his bad habits and put in work. I watched every game Cam played as a panther and he still had the same sloppy footwork and tendency to revert to trying to out athlete guys late in his career that he did early. Its a main contributor to his being out of the NFL at 31..... he realied entirely on his arm and never learned to consistently add power to his throws from his feet.

Canales does have a system, way to play the game. It's methodical running to set up the big aggressive pass play downfield. Wilson, Geno, Baker. That's all he knows. Every stop of his career, that's what he was involved with. That's football to him. He isn't a creative type. He was always going to come in and be what he knows. He told us that. and once poo hits the fans, I don't listen to coaches make excuses on the microphone. Canales is being exactly what we hired. When we hired him, it was clear Foxball was returning.

Rhule got the run of the place. This crew was tied to Young and that choice. The fact is they have done a poor job with a few sprinkles of decent mixed in. Frank never made sense. Old, run down and set in his way. Mix in a horrendous approach to filling out his staff and the worst GM in Teppers ear was a mess that absolutely deserved a one and done for all staff and directions. This build is just an extension of the Young debacle playing out with the low quality options attached to that choice. DC was never getting away from Young. That's why he was brought in and the fantasy he would be able to move one after failing was a fan made. Dude is taking huge hits and it's only week 2 lol

If Bryce is our 3rd best player on offense then we are not winning a single game this year.
-
Bingo, Josh Allen and Cam Newton are as close as two NFL QBs will ever be physically.

If you need to be threatened to be fired to do your job...you should be fired.

Let's see what the final record is this season. But in all likelihood when it's another 5 or less win season, everyone has to go. There are some young pieces to build around but most of the roster needs to be rebuilt. Obviously get rid of Bryce, get him out of the building immediately. Cut him, trade him, whatever it is. I just don't see how keeping him around is helping anything. He's not a starting caliber NFL caliber QB. He's probably going to have a long career as a backup, but he's not a starter. They don't need to go draft a QB right away. Get a veteran stopgap QB and go nuts drafting defense. Build the team up. Get a defensive head coach. It's time to stop trying to be like everyone else and go back to what the Panthers did well which was run the ball and play excellent defense. Draft a QB when the team isn't a sack of flaming garbage.
-
Id prefer to fire both but DC has had to coach with one hand tied behind his back. He relies on. A QB that can make chunk throws and we'll, that ain't BY. Morgan on the other hand has taken a master class from Scott Fittershits University of Drafting and Management and this is the result. He needs to go.

So it's nothing but hard work? That's bullshit. The Bills did a great job of identifying Allen as a naturally talented passer who had fixable mechanical flaws. Passing accuracy isn't something everyone can just work on and magically improve. I'm sure Josh Allen works his ass off but I'm also sure he's not literally the hardest worker in football history and I have never seen anyone improve so dramatically as a passer. Everyone deserves credit here. Allen for putting in the work and the Bills for identifying his flaws as fixable and helping him fix them.

Richardson has not shown hes anywhere close to coachable yet...... The other thing about it is you have to really want sucess and completly lose the mind set of you can just go out and be successfull because of your athleticism.
-
Most of them dont put in the work and hence are not coachable.

They have 13.5m in cap space left while spending 269m because of roll over from 2024. (2025 cap ceiling is 275m) They have around 22-24m in 2026 counting Motons contract and can save 17m cutting Young, Corbett and Wonnum. "This is with a cap ceiling of 295m"
