Which side of the ball needs more help?
Ornias replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
We really need another stud beside DB. Unless a stud OT falls to us I would spend that 1st on a DT. -
The defense probably needs more help because it has a couple spots which are probably more true holes, but it really isn’t that simple. offense is inherently more valuable-it’s more expensive, the rules favor it, it’s harder to come by certain skill sets. Guys like Sadiq or Concepcion theoretically allow this team to do stuff it just doesn’t have the personnel to do right now. Then there’s OT-you’ve got one guy under contract behind this season, question marks with your LT, a class that’s uniquely fertile in our spot for options, and the skepticism that you’ll have an opportunity to take one next offseason if you’re picking later in the draft. they can’t stand pat at a couple spots on defense, but that doesn’t mean they cannot acquire those positions elsewhere. The offensive spots are much harder to come by when not using a 1st rounder.

There is really nothing you can do about that this year. We resigned him at least the next 2 years. There is only 1 first round QB legit that would take Bryce job. So you have to get better where you can to help Bryce get to where he needs to be. Personally I think he's fine. Not great not bad he's in that darnold territory. -
I would attack it with a hybrid BPA approach. I’m sure most NFL organizations do. Create tiered lists of players. Generational/HOF potential All Pro potential Pro Bowl potential Average starter potential Borderline starter potential Depth role player If you have only one player in the highest tier available, select him as BPA. If you have multiple players to choose from in the highest tier remaining, factor in positional value and team needs.

This is the best plan. Convince me otherwise

I am only for it if we have extra picks to pay for it. We could stand to get up and get an actual 1st round talent but not at the expense of a third round pick this year. What I have been looking at is trading back in the 1st to pick up an extra 2nd or something. PS I think there are two or three accepted Trade Value charts. One was Jimmy Johnson’s. Most sites use that one I think. -

Both sides are good enough for the playoffs. Can't be legit contenders without new qb1 -

Seeing a lot of people still not able to grasp that the defense is miles ahead of the offense defense you have legitimate studs and horn brown Phillips Lloyd morig safety Mike Jack and to lesser degrees you got other players who were brought in capable Turk is supposed to be capable Bobby Brown supposed to be capable. Outside of our two guards and T-Mac maybe Bryce I don't think there's anybody that is comparable like there's no pro bowlers on offense -

Which I would agree with if you didn't add a pro bowl middle linebacker and a potential top 10 pass rusher to mask your biggest weaknesses on an already average side of the field -

Does feel like we are last season Bills. Chiefs out of the playoffs and they still couldn’t make it. -

The worst games last year were when we couldn’t do anything on offense, they gave short fields and made terrible mistakes (BUF, NE, SF). But the defense still had huge issues with generating pressure, competent pre-snap communication and overall situational awareness. WR is still a need in my book, a good TE could go a long way and we need OL depth… but the other ILB spot, FS/SD, and IDL are still pretty major impact gaps. Less true gaps on offense, even though overall talent may be less. Neither side of the ball should be “set”, can see picks on either side in the first 3 rounds. -

Defense, undoubtedly. The defensive side of the ball still needs, legitimately, 2-3 starters. ILB, NT, S And that doesn't even account for nickel corner and possibly a 3-4 DE (I have my doubts about Wharton and Brown). -
I would love for the Panthers to drop back a few spots, obtain an extra pick and draft DT Kayden McDonald (20-25) to shore up the line with Derrick Brown and get Rodriguez in the second round. Also as for the rest of Free agency, I hope Dan gives a call to Keenan Allen as he's 1st down machine and trades XL.

10 games back from the Olympics: 6-4 record. Avg 3.8 goals per game while giving up 3.4 goals per game (+4 goal differential in last 10). Can't afford to do anything with Miller. In either sense of the word. Moving on from him is not happening with his contract and moving him down to the bottom pair and move Nikishin to his off-side would be a disaster. So, we're stuck with him on the 2nd line as well as his contract. Bussi is losing his sh!t in net. He's nowhere close to being as cool and collected as he was when piling up the wins. Why, all of a sudden, does he look like a hooked bass on the riverbank, flopping and flailing all over the ice? Why has terrible puck handling suddenly appeared? - Today

Not counting QB!!! We're rolling with BY and KP for better or worse. Then I say Defense. We need legit starters at ILB and FS, probably DT. Our main upgrade needed on Offense is TE, and our current squad is mediocre even if not awe inspiring. That being said, I'd LOVE to add a pass-catching TE, OT and IOL after round 1. -
Panthers signing Packers LT Rasheed Walker

Yeah Tennessee reached like crazy last year. Steelers fans hated the guy, the team let him walk bc of how bad he was. Never made sense to me. -

Pretty much this. We need a day 1 starter in the first. I don’t see that quality of OT being there at 19. -

Defense Defense Defense You can put All Pros up and down the offense they are still at the mercy of a bottom 10 QB. -

I think we are ok at LB going into the season... but I wouldnt be opposed to it. Honestly I think we can go BPA. Just get a stud. -

If we're talking weakest side of the ball its probably the offense now. And the need on offense is TE, its the most "meh" position group atm. However premium positions like T, Edge, DL, and WR are more likely due to cost to retain. -
I’d imagine it has to do with local visits not counting towards that 30 visit pre draft limit NFL teams have

Not you taking about being a Homer. Thats the twitter or Facebook people haha. This place is honest at least. I thought miller could be good when they traded for him. Now I’m with you. I can’t stand it. im very concerned. Tonight is a must win.
