Post- Training Camp 53-Man Roster Projection
Captain Morgan replied to Seltzer's topic in Carolina Panthers
cutting Tremble saves us 4.5 mill. CFutting Mitchell only saves 1 mill. Depends on how much we value Tremble's blocking ability. Maybe Mitchell can block, I don't know anything about him -
In a lot of systems, WR must be able to block in the run game. He’s too small for that.

Post- Training Camp 53-Man Roster Projection

I think he was drafted primarily as a return man and then we were going to look to develop him as a WR but he didn't impress as a returner and probably just isn't far enough along as a WR to make it. We'll hope to stash him on the PS and if someone picks him up, oh well. That's just the way it goes with 6th rounders sometimes. -
Well that's absolutely what would happen if the Panthers had the #1 overall pick and a chance to pick Arch Manning. He will absolutely, never ever be a Carolina Panther. The Saints are colluding to make him their pick next year. Our best hope is Bryce pans out or it's another 5 years of misery at a minimum.

Jones isn't close to the naturally talented passer that Darnold is. Darnold throws as good of a ball as anybody. He just has that panic gene in him.
-
Would love for Crumedy to make the roster but Roberts has played pretty well. I'd be hype to keep James Mitchell.

Preseason Week 3 - vs. Pittsburgh (practice tweets, discussion, etc)
Icege replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think week 1 is a great test for both cat teams. Jags have a surprisingly solid roster with some names on that defense. They've got a rookie HC + rookie DC, which is good for Carolina, but Evero and Coen already met twice last season and it didn't exactly go what I'd call well. Still... there's some match-ups to keep our eyes on: Campinile (Jags DC) comes from GB and was their run game coordinator on defense. The Jaguars have a stacked front seven as well. It'll be a really good test for the Panthers OL and run game. The Jaguars' offense has some guys, and Coen put up better numbers than Canales in his one season at TB, but they're going to have a similarly balanced attack that will allow the defense to rev up against a persistent ground game early. How will the secondary contain BTJ? Is Jaycee going to shadow him? That's going to give us a lot of insight into how different the scheme is from last year (if at all). Will the offense be able to get those chunk plays against a solid Jags defense that PFF graded top-5 in overall Defense, #1 in pressure, top-5 in coverage, and top-15 against the run? -
Post- Training Camp 53-Man Roster Projection

By all indications, the surgery was "minor." I know with all surgeries and especially back surgery there can be complications, but I think the whole time Tremble did this with the expectation he would be able to be back for Week 1 It sounds like he will be ready to start back in team drills next week. He's a veteran who knows the system so I'm sure that helps. I still can't imagine he will play a normal workload early on though -

Seltzer replied to Seltzer's topic in Carolina Panthers
Maybe. He was pretty good in college before a bad injury. He had a good preseason last year as a UDFA in Washington and was on their practice squad all year so they obviously saw something worth developing. He signed a futures deal with the Panthers earlier this year, and everything about him has been increasingly positive. Tremayne has gotten a decent amount of time with the ones, and a lot with the twos for someone that doesn't have a chance. He's the only other 6'4" plus WR on the team, plays ST, and is a more natural backup to the X receiver position than David Moore. That was my thinking behind it. But he may well end up as one of the last roster cuts. If so, I do hope they can bring him back to the PS. But I personally think there's a good chance he could be claimed given his ST ability and what hes shown at WR. -

Seltzer replied to Seltzer's topic in Carolina Panthers
That was my thought originally, but so many of the beat writers have mentioned keeping 7 WRs in conversations that I went with that, at least for the purposes of this projection. But you're right that historically defensive guys who were standouts at ST have tradionally gotten those last spots -
2 and its not particularly close. Aisle seat is nice for bathroom access and the goofball proximity is high.

Jones is Sam Darnold? If Sam Darnold were here, he would be starting over Bryce. Bryce and Jones would be a competition. From when Rhule got fired to now, Darnold has looked like a first round QB. Made a mistake by letting him go and trading up for Bryce. Before you say anything about the Vikings, I said this same thing in 2023.

Some QB's are deaf. Whispering just makes it even harder for them to progress.

Yeah. He's ok for Carolina, but I don't think any other teams are waiting around for a chance to snag him. - Today

REPORT: Panthers interested in Patriots starting safety
ProcessBlue2 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
No I’m not missing it, I understand that. What I’m saying is they are so needy now, that I think they will part with him for immediate assistance. Zac Taylor already has a reputation for starting slow which is the reason they missed the playoffs last year. Yeah they can just do nothing and he can just sit out, but they are out of money and need help now, so consider us JG Wentworth. -

Post- Training Camp 53-Man Roster Projection
ProcessBlue2 replied to Seltzer's topic in Carolina Panthers
I know it’s not popular. But I don’t think Jimmy Horn makes it. Was reading on Twitter earlier about how his reps in practice and games have dropped off significantly. Tremayne will be the bubble guy. I literally agree with everything else. -

not sure how Tremble is going to be ready for week 1 per Canales had back surgery in May and hasn't had any practice/live contact all preseason, but will be ready for week 1? -
It’s surprising that he even noticed a drop off. They should all be banking their paychecks as if it’s their last with a plan B after the league. Hearing about them mismanaging their money is so disappointing. I feel for the NIL kids too.

CPcavedweller replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
That's fine. He just looks like a pure running back. Dowdle can do everything Chubba can do, and he's got some hands on him, which I'm sure you'd love to catch if you don't keep my mom's name outcha mouth. -

There is really no threat of Tremayne not clearing waivers. That's what I meant.
