It's going to take time to really evaluate new ownership. I still have some hopes that they can get us past the curse of the Jordan years. We got screwed over by the league with the lottery yet again, nothing in this draft was ever going to make people happy after that happened.
-
The Hornets were screwed when they lost out on the #1 pick. Outside of Cooper Flagg this was a terrible draft class full of risky prospects and red flags. Kon Knueppel likely won't ever be a superstar - or even a star, realistically - but he can be a solid contributor for a long time in the league. That's actually more than I think will end up being the case for many of these players.
-
I guess we should disregard what all these places say about our draft? And just trust you guys on this board? And as far as the Mark Williams trade, most places are saying we got the much better end of that trade for what its worth to yall. Bleacher report has Kon a "B", BR has him C+, Fansided A-, NBC Sports overall draft an A-, Sports Illustrated overall A-, MSN has Kon a B+, Yahoo Sports has us at an A- overall. Here is what ESPN posted: Post-Draft Analysis Knueppel's well-rounded perimeter game and terrific 3-point shooting ultimately won out in Charlotte's decision process, with the Hornets attracted to his fit with their current roster and his long-term potential. He should help stabilize their perimeter minutes immediately, with his dependability all season at Duke a major selling point. The Hornets were thought to be exploring moves here, but were content to simply grab their guy and move forward. This is a strong match that should pay off right away for both sides. -- Jeremy Woo

well, players dictating things only works if you have the right collection of players to dictate things. and in all honesty, not sure if we can answer if we do or don't as fans given......there are no Thomas Davis types around that we know are actually about X and Y (based on years showing it). Collective team is too new to us to know what these dudes are really about in terms of players carrying the burden of culture.
-
Moore can be put in one of the vet spots on IR. No one will be checking for him at the start of the season. But I would be very perturbed if we tried to go all Gettlemagic and stash an obvious talent like Horn on practice squad like we did Butker. If we can get through this year, next year it will be obvious Moore and AT will be gone, starting namely with AT's contract.

Culture change comes from the top down, not from drafting a 3 and no D guard. I doubt Lamelo is gonna take his cues from this 20yr old kid lol. If Brandon Miller couldn’t change the culture with how good he is and how much he hustles on both ends, Kon Knueppel sure as hell ain’t changing it. Ace Bailey by all accounts is also a great teammate and hard worker, btw, who was drafted by a team he supposedly didn’t want to go to yet he immediately bought in. And he’s got actual length and tools on both ends of the floor. I feel this pick is going to age like milk rather quickly.

Player Led culture vs Staff Led
Pejorative Miscreant replied to Cam's New Arm's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't think there should be a difference and if there is a conflict, you have an implosion. The staff and organization are there to establish culture from the FO down. The players they bring in should personify that. The FO ideally has the vision and the players execute on that vision. What we see as fans should appear to be player led but it has to complement and be aligned with the organization. Just my opinion and I may be missing the point of the topic so apologies if that is the case. - Today

this league is about athleticism and he is lacking. Hope I'm wrong. I do like the kid out of Uconn, though.

Rumor. Canes trading for Tomas Hertl

Ehhh we need a top pair RHD hes more of a 2 or 3 -
Yeah, pretty much every pre-draft ranking I saw had him no lower than 6. I don't know if he's gonna be any good or not, but it's not like this was some giant reach.
-
Honestly I haven no idea what I would have even done last night, Edgecomb was the most realistic option to improve our team
-
He doesn't have the athleticism to play in the NBA. He had the worst numbers of anyone who worked out in this draft. He's legitimately the least athletic player in this draft, which is saying something. His ceiling is Kyle Korver, with his lack of athleticism he's more likely to be out of the league in 5-6 years like Jimmer Fredette.
-
Well, he was in probably every NBA franchise's top 6 or 7. Obviously it's nice to take the swing and it work out. But when a guy refuses to work out for your team, is probably the guy refusing to play with LaMelo, has sketchy handlers, etc.? You want...to take that swing? A desperate team does, sure. Which the Hornets are. But a smart team doesn't. Which is what they will hopefully become. Kon isn't a superstar, but his floor is Kyle Korver. Is that what you want in the 4th pick? Not really, but he's your 4th guy on a good team and what I think Charles Lee wants in a player. Trade down would've been nice, but for who? Tre Johnson would've been my guy, but he's gone if we trade with Brooklyn. If Washington wanted Ace, I doubt it would've taken much to come get him. Trade down and get Maluach (knowing you're trading Mark) would make sense and may have been the play, but I think Kon helps the team on the court and changing a culture. Not so sure about some of the guys in the 8-12 range.
-
He's already said he's ok with them taking him and ready to get to work
-
That’s the Hornets problem in a nut shell. Can’t get the #1 pick EVER when a generational talent is in the draft then when they go the safe pick route it still doesn’t work out. Forget about drafting a raw developmental player because they have no history of being able to do that either.
-
The least athletic player in this draft at #4 is god awful. Yes his numbers back up that he's the least athletic player in this draft.
-
Even with the shooting ability, he's worthless. He has no athleticism at all, that's a bench player at best.

Rumor. Canes trading for Tomas Hertl

Cody Ceci, anyone? -
With what was available, you had to take the swing or trade back. Kon wasn't worth taking with the 4th pick and wasn't in my top ten. He's at best a 6th man type player on a really good team. You either trade back or take Ace at 4.

JEEZ... It's refreshing to be having a preseason discussion about which promising WR we have to cut instead of which crappy WR we have to keep! Loved DMo as a player, Loving him as a GM!

I was assuming Blackshear was gone anyway. Or at least PS.

I literally read this 15 minutes ago, but it sums up my feelings perfectly. FYI, the article was about 3 players on the bubble. The author's opinion seems to be Horn is a lock and Renfrow and Moore are fighting for that last spot. David Moore, WR The Panthers' wide receiver room is crowded. There aren't many available spots, at least from the outside looking in. That raises the stakes considerably for those further down the pecking order fighting for recognition. David Moore is among them. The former seventh-round selection is a trusted ally of Dave Canales from three separate NFL stops. He's a solid if not spectacular player, although he underwhelmed when tasked with significant responsibilities during the previous campaign. Moore is battling it out for the sixth wideout spot alongside Hunter Renfrow, Kobe Hudson, and Jacolby George. It could go either way, but Canales' faith and his ability to impact special teams might be enough to get a reprieve."
-
Until LaMelo is traded, this is an unserious organization anyway. There's an insane lack of talent, and the talent all comes with baggage and injury concerns. I assume the OP was about passing on Ace...but he's exactly the type of prospect doomed to bust here and compound on to the problems with all of his rumored sketchiness.

Profit sharing among owners. More ‘desirable’ matchups garner more viewership, leads to more revenue generated and more profit for everyone invested. Y’all don’t think there will ever be a Titans vs Panthers SB, do you? lol, yeah right. Tampa vs Jacksonville? Now that’s funny. Now, do I think there is ‘the man’ who overlords over all of this? Nah, but bias, even among refs, owners and media can, will, does, and always exist when there is $$ involved. Refs are people too. Probably football fans, and as such, probably have a favorite team and a favorite player ( why would a non-fan ever become a ref). There is no way officiating will be completely impartial when this is the case. Might be an interesting idea (not in a stalker ish way) to see where each ref grew up/lives, then you could see their likely allegiance. What if 2 refs officiated the same game and they both grew up in say SF, Dallas, Philly or New York? Impartial officiating. Nah. Would you be? Panthers need a FG to advance in the playoffs, it’s third and long with 45 sec left in the game… obvious hold on your Your team’s center? You calling that? Don’t lie, you know you wouldn’t.
