BREAKING: Panthers sign QB Kenny Pickett
SmokinwithWilly replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Howell's only true starting season he was sacked 65 times, put up almost 4k yards, ran for 250 and 5 tds while throwing for 21/21. Lot of ints but he was also being asked to do a lot with lots of pressure and no RB help. I don't think it's even questionable to think he could come in and legitimately compete with Bryce right away. -

Their reddit is not happy they didnt retain him for what we paid
-
Its his job to blow smoke about BY9 and dis everyone else on the team
-
I don’t think we would spend that kind of money on a LB that can’t play all 3 downs. It said he played 331 coverage snaps last year and only gave up one TD so him not being a coverage LB seems kinda like BS?
-
Moton should be back in 27 just due to the guarantees. I can't see us cutting him and eating that cap hit. Trade might be a bit different, but how many teams trade for 20m tackles? I wouldn't be surprised to see us take 2 this year, 1 in the first and one in the 4th that has potential to play inside if they don't develop as quickly. Our line is awfully thin atm with the unknown injury Hunt got during the postseason. Even if Hunt's ok, we still lack depth. I could see is walking away from this draft with 2 tackles and a center, especially if we move down to pick up an extra 3rd or 4th.

He was so up and down for 4 seasons. They declined his 5 year option for a reason Oloukon has been their LB1. Evero loves to send pressure so my guess is if Lloyd is going to be used a 3 down back here he’ll be blitzing on 3rd down a lot. Would’ve liked to have signed someone a lot quicker if that’s the case. Lloyd isn’t very explosive. Used to be

REPORT: Panthers interested in trading for Brian Thomas Jr

I see him going to the saints -

Luckily they are 3 or 4 good zone blocking centers in this draft, so I think we can potentially find a starter in the third or fourth round.

FA Splash: Panthers sign Jaelan Phillips EDGE

He needs to be more like Scourton and less like the TikTok generation. -
If I had a dollar for every player that our fans were not "fond" of, who then went somewhere else and had some good years, I could probably afford a tank of gas.
-
Looks like we can pretty much go BPA in the 1st round now (if there isn't an OT we love at 19)
-
Do we still have cap room for Chenal? That would solidify our LB corps. This is a better signing than the Jaelan Philips deal given how much of a better season he had given Lloyd was a pro bowler and had an AV of 16 to Phillips AV of 8
-
Damn, almost seems like we're going all in with how much we are spending in free agency
-
A little chunky but athletic. This is better than what have had for a while. Let’s get a talented hungry young guy in there next to him
-
QB maybe
-
Who's ahead of him? Hes the presumed starter.

I do think the Phillips signing was a bit of an overpay to come to Carolina. Dan didn't want a repeat of last year and IMO, Phillips probably goes back to Philly for less. We didn't want a Milton redux, so we upped our number to make sure he came to Carolina. New England did it last year and wrote a blank check for Williams. They also went in on Carlton Davis III and Harold Landry. Look where they ended up. I think the Lloyd singing balanced the Phillips signing. I think Dan learned that pivoting from Phillips to someone else that is less of a fit in EE's system and settling for Chenal over Lloyd would've been a repeat of last year. Good on him. Decker on a fair 2-yr deal and I'm good walking into the draft with what we've got. Darnell Mooney would be another late add if his pricetag comes down a bit.

FA Splash: Panthers sign Jaelan Phillips EDGE

It was wild hearing a 3rd round rookie call our the DC. Might be a small reason he wasn’t playing.. He needs to shut up and work on improving his craft. -

Aside from the 5 INT's got some other good pbu's in here. He doesn't look all that spry sure, but seems like he knows where to be.

I was specifically talking about them talking about the sacks. Still injuries happen in football. He was healthy all last year. so he could be fine. -
Are you talking about last year? Cause I thought last year he improved a lot in coverage. Heck how did he get 5 INTs if he wasn’t playing on passing downs?
