Yes. Need increases the appeal, as does depth of talent at the position. If you need a QB and there is a G who rates much higher, you are not taking G, for example. I also think you must consider the cap. If I can keep my QB on a rookie contract (since the position is not factored in) when the average QB in the NFL earns $35m (guess), as opposed to the average guard ($10m or so) I get more cap room--and the upgrades to those players must factor into the decision. It is easy to say "BPA" if you are wearing blinders, but if get a QB on a rookie deal and a guard and tight end in free agency....it makes no difference if the Guard is predicted to be a hall of famer--you take the Qb. (these are just examples)

No LBs. I can see WR Cooper here, and Concepcion (nearly 10% drop rate) bothers me...and it is interesting that they brought it Bisontis--maybe to see him snap? ... Looks like they want an emergency QB from the UDFA pile....One might project S as a day 2 pick, based on this.

We have talked ourselves blue in the face about the problem with it for three years now.

Canales doesn't sound all the way sold on Bryce
frankw replied to TD alt's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sam Darnold had one less pass attempt than Bryce Young last season and threw for 1,037 more yards. Yes talent matters and the Seahawks have a great deal of it especially on the defensive side of the ball. But Bryce is not suddenly going to just wake up one day and be as physically gifted as Darnold. -
Correct me if im wrong but it can come a few ways. 4 points is the magic number. Canadians, buffalo, and Tampa could lose 2 of their next 4 and itβs the same and we could win 1 and still clinch the east.
-
They're going to bring him in as an udfa so that Bryce looks like he's grown in the camp photos.
-
Best they can do is a 5th year option.

This group has certainly overachieved and shown glimpses of great basketball at times but it's still a young roster. 7th youngest roster in the league. We just need to get them some playoff experience and if we can win a few or more along the way that will be a fantastic bonus. But whatever we do in the offseason adding another legit center should be the priority.

That one was a blast. No defense no goalie. All offense. Glad for a win. Saw a fight almost break out in the stands. Shocking it was a drunks bruins fan running his mouth.

Its not that cut and dry. How does Bpa work postitionally? You telling me a wr3 is a better fit for this roster than a starting Dtackle, safety or corner? Nah its doesnt work like that -

good point, JSN had 1800 yards, the next closest was cupp at 600. You dont need playmakers at every position, you just need a competent coach and decent qb. -

Seattle had a sick D but they also scored 483 points, which was good for 3rd in the league. We scored 311 ,the bottom tier. A sick D will only make us halfway competitive. -

I agree 1000% and its also the same reason I think drafting a TE/WR at 19 is a fools errand. Seattle and San Fran had sick defenses during their playoff runs. Although due to circumstances if a tackle fell I wouldnt cry but man I really really want a suffocating defense again. Those are always fun to have -

Which is terrible, 1 QB and 2 first round WRs in the last three drafts and we still have to be a run first team. Am I the only one that sees a problem with this? Also no one is checking for Hubbard, you can get that quality of back later in the draft, he's not a game changer.

I don't think that's realistic. Carolina ain't San Francisco (scheme and playcalling), Minnesota (WRs), or Seattle (all of the above, plus an insane defense). Just play consistently well. Command the offense with hot routes, smart audibles and protection adjustments. Take more deep shots when they're there. Make less foolish plays, particularly fumbles on your own side of the field. The rest of the team has to catch up with SF, MIN and SEA before we can expect much more. -

I'm with you. Get the best player on your board at a position of need, where he'll start or have opportunities to make significant contributions to the team - this season. Same for second round. Third round is where you can maybe start to think about projects for the future. Kind of like Princely last year. Can't believe everyone is so against a WR in the first because of Xavier Legette. He was the 32nd pick (the last pick of the first) and really not a first round talent. So if they waited until the 33rd pick, then it would be ok? Now if they would have drafted McConkey, then this wouldn't make sense. Then again, it wouldn't be a position of need. -
You must be new here.

Detroit drafted receiver's in the 1st round like 4 or 5 years in a row and got 1 receiver out of it. The GM was fired for that stupidity and he was a former player for them as well. Sound familiar.

Bryce either takes a Darnold step, or you have to move on. Simple as that IMO. The easy answer right now is he's in no way worthy of a $50+ mil extension. By the end of the season, if we're not on here fighting about his exact extension number, we have our answer and time to draft another or go all in on someone else (Burrow, Hurts, etc.) -

The WR class this year is not that impressive at the top but is very deep. Therefor, we would be better served saving the wr pick this year for later rounds where we can still get some quality. I could see us pulling the trigger on Lemon if he drops. Tate won't be there and Tyson has that injury history. -
