Morgan looking for aa FA Free Safety
Jon Snow replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Neither option is that great but better than nothing I suppose. Our secondary is still a big question mark. The front 7 better be able to generate pressure or prepare to be the worst defense again this season. -

What can you do? The team has been asswater for a decade or more now and there really no sign of it changing anytime soon. So I'm like... -
Texas A&M Nic Scourton vs. Purdue Nic Scourton

I read somewhere (couldn't find the article again) that he wanted to play at A&M since he was a kid, hometown tea. Plus he wanted to play in the SEC. -

When we drafted him the commentators said he was playing at 285. I’ve seen articles that said he played at 265-285 throughout the season. Add the fact he had to play in a new system and I actually think those numbers are pretty good. -

PFF ain't. Morgan gave him a first round grade. On an off note, the draft was deep at EDGE, so it stands to reason that Scourton would be better than his draft spot. The same is true for Princely Umanmielen.
-
Pff had him listed as top 10 after the overdue season. That seems like a theme for a bunch of our players drafted this year. Guys who had high grades but slid for injuries or scheme the following year.

That and I've grown numb to the Panthers. Nothing they do excites me. -

My son goes to Purdue. It is indeed very cold there lol. And as a military brat my son grew up in Hawaii, Australia and Maryland. Big difference. -
Haha so you think we're a QB away from being a playoff team? Like someone already said if we're picking top 15 we're a .500 team and that's a successful season in my book for a roster that's still rebuilding. Even if Bryce balls out, chances are we lose more than we win because our roster just isn't there yet. Don't let the post draft hype blind you.

Oh poo, I had heard T-Mac played volleyball but I didn't know he also went to Junior Nationals for USAVB boys 14U (and won!) back in 2018. I was the setter for my 14U team when we went and got 8th back in 1999 (a team from Puerto Rico won and those kids could FLY ). Shoot... now I'm gonna need him and XL to go off for 1k+ each and be the new vertical version of Double Trouble.

That makes absolutely no sense when you have your starting QB on a rookie contract. You don't invest another first round pick in a QB. Unlike other positions, you can't play them together.

and sounds like one is incoming shortly Carolina Panthers president of football operations and general manager Dan Morgan joined 99.9 The Fan's The Drive with Tim Donnelly on Wednesday. While chatting about his haul from the 2025 NFL draft, specifically fifth-round pick Lathan Ransom, Morgan was asked if the team is still on the lookout for a free safety. "Yeah, we're definitely gonna explore some guys that are still out there," he replied. "But drafting a guy like Lathan, I just think he brings that demeanor and that mentality that we're looking for—that physical presence out there, that tone-setter-type mentality. As for who's out there on the open market, Julian Blackmon and Marcus Williams—both of whom visited with the Panthers back in late March—could still be on Morgan's radar. https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/panthers/2025/05/01/panthers-dan-morgan-free-agency-safety-nfl-draft/83375411007/?taid=681356b281b2ac00012a7808&utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=trueanthem&utm_source=twitter

15ish is like an 8 win team. That would be the best Panther season in like 8 seasons at that point.

Agreed. Even if Bryce plays out and we have a chance to get a good rookie QB, you take it. It's too important a position to not have a good backup/future starter at because you have a starter. injuries happen, contract negotiations fall through, etc.
-
Not as huge as a civil suit tho...
-
The seeing doesn't guarantee anything for sure. I thought his path would be blocked from civil action through the setup of the NFL and it's unions if anything.
-
I mean could you not see deion doing that? This is one of his "kids" . He's apparently too talented to tank his draft stock like sanders did saying similar poo like he's coming in to the league telling everyone else how to do their job.
-
He was right about kupp dj moore and coker and wrong about most everyone he's had very high praise for. I still remember him pumping up ryne Robinson like he was going to be the next panthers great. I don't know his record on not being fond of guys but I'm sure it's probably a much higher % just because so few guys end up living up to predraft hype

How? They had 2 firsts this draft bc of the trade

Expect us to have to play against the refs this next series. They are going to try like hell to get Ovi another Cup.
