It's not explicitly saying it, it's suggesting that we draft a certain position, regardless if the receiver has the higher grade. We would never had made the playoffs without T-mac. Morgan did the absolutely right thing, and that's what I hope he continues to do in the draft, which is follow the board and draft impact players. He used free agency to set up the draft for just that purpose. For anyone that thinks last season was anything but an improvement, I don't know what to tell 'em. The goal is to keep the momentum going, and I'd say that addressing our three biggest needs with arguably the best players at their respective positions this free agency, and legit quality players to boot, goes along way toward building the foundation of long term success. Before free agency, no one was picking us to win the division, now more than a few analysts are, and that's before the draft. Pull your bootstraps up where you are and get to work. We aren't as good as we need to be, but the needle is moving in the right direction.

The Bengals absolutely fuged up paying Higgins elite WR money. You can't have your QB and two WRs eating up your whole cap or you end up with... well, the Bengals. Your QB is getting killed because your OL is trash and you can't stop anybody because your D is trash because you can't afford a balanced roster. Unless you're smacking it out of the park in the draft you're gonna be hard pressed to put a good team on the field despite an elite QB and WRs.

https://x.com/scottbarrettdfb/status/2039409459680903231?s=46 2026 WR Class by Missed Tackles Forced per Reception + Zachariah Branch is not the "MTF machine" they told me he was, instead looks like just another screen merchant fraud + Jordyn Tyson not beating the allegations + Bunch of other projected top-75 picks in the death knell range -
Sure, but that’s because a 2nd rounder they drafted before Chase ended up becoming what he did. Higgins play put them in the situation, we’d be drafting a player with the expectation/hope that they pan out and thus putting ourselves into the situation. There is a big difference between the two there. Not a fan of drafting a player in the 1st round knowing we HAVE to trade him or another young player we like within a few years because we can’t pay them both (all). We were a sub .500 team, and while I love our FA’s so far, we still have far too many needs to use our 1st rounder in that way right now. If it was the final piece to make us a SB contender, sure, you do it and hope you win a ring in the first couple years and then who cares what you have to deal with, it got the job done.

Meanwhile, entire OL is either aging, trying to come back from serious injury, and/or on short term contracts. A WR would very much be a panic prop Bryce up move. If you're actually trying to build a balanced long-term roster there's better arguments for most other position groups on the roster. We ha e a young stud in T-Mac. Another promising youngster opposite him and slot WRs can be found in the mid to late rounds or mid-level FA contracts. Slot WR at 19 given our roster would be crazy

Mike Kaye: “I would keep a pretty close eye on {KC Concepcion}.”

We aren't taking him at 19. -
I've said this a few times in the past few weeks, WR just cannot be on the board for us in the 1st round this year or we're just setting ourselves up for a problem in a couple of years. As it is, we're already looking at needing to do extensions for T-Mac and Coker (assuming they both progress as we all expect) in possibly the same offseason, or at worst, just one year apart. Adding another 1st round WR to that mix who will be eligible for an extension in the same time frame is basically already announcing that at least one of the 3 of them will not be on the team in 4 years time. I realize you want to maximize your team's ability every season, but using a 1st round pick on a player you either know will be sent out 4 years from now and/or they will push out another young player you're really high on (Coker), just would be a poor use of current assets. Just look at how much it screwed over the Bengals to have to pay Burrow, Chase, and Higgins all in such a short time frame, and at least one of them was a QB. The only way I'm okay drafting a WR in the 1st this year is if we're then flipping Coker for say, a 2nd round pick. And I don't want to trade Coker, nor do I think anyone would give us that high of a pick for him right now either.

Trade Bryce for 2 1sts, have Pickett start the year, draft Manning next year -
Who was the better HC - Rivera or McDermott?
DeAngelo Beason replied to t96's topic in Carolina Panthers
Looking at the utterly dysfunctional nature of the Panthers franchise, I'd say the best coach in our history (Rivera) might just be the best coach of all time. Anyone who is moderate here would probably be godlike with a real franchise. -
strato started following Baldinger on the 2026 LB Class

I want an ILB this year. And I really like seeing what Brian Baldinger thinks. He was killing it on Derrick Brown this year. Last year. He is apparently is going through every position for pre draft evaluations. This is video of his ILB evaluation. Put other videos here too if you want.

Nah he's going first round. If I had to guess, he'll get drafted by a contender at the end of the first. He kinda screams Joe Brady IMO. It wouldnt shock me to see Dan pick a WR @ 19 but we should probably be looking at Tyson before Concepcion. If I HAD to go WR, I'd have my eyes on Lemon too. I don't think anyone knows our true intentions. One thing is forsure though... somebody ranked high is going to drop to us.

https://x.com/panthersbreakd/status/2039460655757922331?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA Following Pro Day today, Indiana WR Omar Cooper Jr. will head to Carolina for a 30 visit with the Panthers, per source. They’ve done a lot of work on receivers and Cooper Jr. could be an option at No. 19 overall

I am trying to remember when I EVER said reach for need. My thing if someone falls you jump, if you can trade back a few slots and get help at the right value and pick up some ammo to move up from 51 which I think is outside the money zone, then you do that. Take a WR later. Plenty of capable WRs have come from the 3rd round. Though this year I would go for C there if there was a reasonable choice. Take a TE if you must. I see more reason to take WR than TE. I think you give guys drafted two years ago and last year a chance to develop before cancelling them. I think it is kind of unrealistic to throw everything all in on offense in hopes of going deep in the playoffs after an 8-10 year, even if it did have some nice bright spots in it. And outside of this argument but relevant to it, I am bothered by Canales and Morgan and their apparent posture that we have arrived and are now in the big boy club. I don’t know where that comes from. They are out there talking like they are winners at 8-10. Backing into the playoffs in a real convoluted tie breaker scenario. They had some good games, yes. But the big feather n the cap, the LA Rams matchups, did you see what the Rams did? They didn’t fire the coaches but they fired their defensive backs. Bryce beat them yes, and it was pretty, but it was kind of like the Bucs and Mike Evans picking on our decimated secondary in 2022. Someone (Wilks) went down for allowing that to happen and they went down in LA too. Wr aren’t as good as a whole lot of homers think we are. Shore up the trenches. I think too many fans buy into it because they are so starved for anything that looks like a winner.
