Hendon Hooker signed to practice squad
electro's horse replied to Super Grateful's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hendon Hooker has an absolute hose, but in 2022 Tennessee was running a mickey mouse air raid offense and he doesn't place the ball very well. It didn't matter when he was throwing to three track stars, but he couldn't do anything against UGA. he hasn't done a thing in the NFL. most likely role for him on this team is throwing end of half hail marys -

Yea it just doesnt work well in the modern defense with 2 deep safeties all the time. -
They interrupted the NFL Network regular programming to put on a press conference with Jerry lol

Sounds like we need to ship out Young then. -
sort looking forward to the SC vs VT highlights. I mean, Beamer basically has to script up a Beamer Ball play that game I would think…..seems like it should be required

Canales is 100% drafting dudes for on O that fits what his passers did in Tampa and Seattle. Bryce Young just doesn’t push the ball downfield. Baker, Geno and Russell were all above league in pushing the ball downfield with big shots. All were above league average in yards per attempt with Canales. Bryce was 34th last yards per attempt last year. And that’s why even when the “good” Bryce existed the Panthers pass O was still pedestrian overall. The volume isn’t there. And Canales’ O is too bland for the deep shots to not offset that. And Bryce’s bad throw % in this O is just way too high given the scheme is already built on lower % throws. -
Nice! So, do you know if Amazon just adds the $20 per month, (which is the same price as the FD app), to my monthly Prime bill? I'll definitely do this over starting back my app subscription. The glitches on the app are frustrating as hell!

NCSU either has a pretty good defense or ECU's offense is straight trash tier. Typing as the ECU center sails the ball 10 feet over his QB's head. LOLOLOL

That would make sense if he didn’t have other suitors. He’d probably be doing visits by now and he hasn’t. It’s sounding more football related than team related.

I don't think Morgan sees it that way. He talked about Adam's mentorship being a key reason he thinks Coker can man the slot and he can make the trade. If he didn't believe in his young core he wouldn't make the trade. He was emphatic is has to benefit the Panthers as well. Adam wasn't expected to be the go to guy this year.

Absolutely stupid logic. Lets handicap the team because we respect a player. Those concussions really did a number on this guy.

We will see if Canales is really the Qb Whisperer. He literally saved Geno and Bakers careers and both were headed the opposite way. The only reason I say Hendon has a shot, is bc he has all the physical skills to succeed. He sounds like a bright guy, maybe the change of scenery and being close to home sparks something... -

It was Canales' choice I heard. He liked his physical skills and expressed an interest in working with him. We should always have a qb on the practice squad. Me I am a zappe fan given we both attended WKU obviously decades apart. -

He’s back at practice and looks like he has a chance to play week 1. Looks like this was not as bad as originally projected -

Yup, back when he was younger and healthier. Now?

I think you can find Hunter talking about it somewhere but it always sounded like it was always a uniquely Carolina specific comeback. Scratch the last football itch while also keeping his family life here intact and in place. and I bet the current Panther ambiguous plan just ain’t the offer for him to come back to football.

Morgan said Minnesota called wanting Adam back and he told Thielin about it who said he would be interested n going back there since he has a house there and could end his career at the place he started. Morgan said he would do his best but wouldn't give him away for free. But Adam wanted the trade and Dan accommodated him while trying to get something for him. Dan didn't want to trade him but as a former player he knows how important playing in one place can be. And his respect for Adam compelled him to get the deal done.

Yeah, didn't want that hire made but it is what it is. Gotta hope for the best now

His style of downfield throwing is Bryce's style as well now. We have several downfield threats who are good with contested balls or getting wide open. That makes it easier for Bryce to toss it up and have the receivers go up and get it. Kind of like what Delhomme had with Steve Smith. Bryce was huge under pressure and with the deep ball at the end of last year. They worked offseason to bring in guys to help Bryce with receivers and running backs. XL and TMac were brought in to help Bryce with the scheme Canales is going to use. There is no new or old scheme anymore. Just the scheme we are using this year.
