  1. CMC would have gotten plenty of press if he put up the numbers. But you have to suit up to put numbers up. he didn’t get press because he didn’t do anything for like two years. If he stays healthy yeah he will get a lot of press. I guess that is important to people.
  2. Agree on football decisions and I definitely blame him for meddling in our yearly QB clusterfug, but draft capital, pick value, those sorts of things are his bag. Analyzing value of things. Placing a value on something. And financials or contract issues that could be part of it, that is boss/owner stuff too. Just do not let him pick the coach, the players, none of that. I have an idea that would allow him to play with his toy though. Do something like let him have the 7th rounder every year to play with, maybe he’ll get lucky. No one much hits on 7th rounders he can probably do about average.
  3. Yeah see how he does. Always. Never hand the job out without a real tough evaluation. I like him a lot. He has been around. Been a failed HC. You learn things.
  4. Except for QB they haven’t done bad and made progress towards having a well rounded team that can compete up front, which is to me the most sensible way to rebuild a roster. Get it ready for the QB you are going to ride with. I mean it is not rocket science and it doesn’t much matter what year or decade it is: a strong running game (meaning good OL) and a strong D are a young QBs best friend. At worst you can maybe make the playoffs with a game manager. It just gives your team the best foundation to succeed. OL DL is freaking important. More important than a valuing a RB in the top ten (same thing with Stew when we took him 8th or something). And what Tepper and Rhule did with Bridgewater, Darnold, and Mayfield even, was just bad decision making.
  5. I do think they would. Tepper was about to give up a stupid lot of stuff for Watson. Irrational desire takes over. QB is like Tepper’s White Whale. It is always the same: you only bemoan the cost if you are wrong. You have to get it right.
  6. I am about over Shi Smith. Seen enough. Someone needs to step up and snatch that job.
  7. Even crumbs are cause for celebration when you are starving.
  8. I have to agree. I need to see three or four weeks of crappy QB play in real NFL games this year before I close his window. (Crappy play wouldn’t shock me, I just need to see it). Would prefer to lose out, I was against Mayfield because I wanted to tank. Lol. I support bringing him in now.
  9. I don’t think it’s fair to say Darnold is behind Walker and imply that it is because Wilkes sees how much better than one is over the other. The guy just came off IR they will ease him in. If he earns that ranking, no problem with it. I was sort of stunned that Mayfield was so bad. There were so many downs that were wasted because of stupid poo. But I am a fair minded person I like to think, and Darnold needs to get his chance on the field. We will see what he does with it. The Panther way would be that he comes out and does great just to foul things up.
  10. In terms of someone wanting to acquire him. Not Panther depth chart status. I can’t see anyone wanting to give him a contract.
  11. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to give him a shot after seeing him play his 5 games here.
  12. Regarding OP premise: how hard can that really be? Mayfield is freaking horrible.
  13. Yep. I have real life experience in this. This is really a common thing with successful people. Maybe they built and own every Holiday Inn instead of staying at one, it still does not make them an expert in a different field. But they don’t see that. They think they are smarter than people doing something half their lives. I have seen this a few times in different projects I have been involved with. They buy, and start telling people what to do. Pretty much every one of the self made people do that until something humbles them. Many are never humbled. But you, as an employee (it is worse if you are a partner), you cannot tell them anything. They just won’t listen because they see ‘us’ as inferior, since we haven’t done what they have done. So you have to suffer through their growing pains with them. And you already went through the learning your job growing pains once so… yeah it is no fun really. Usually.
  14. Who knows? He isn’t coming into a great situation to say the least. I am a Braves fan and they had an interim manager that no one expected anything from. Maybe it will be good for Wilkes.
  15. This is kind of humorous in a way, they could have done this without all their wheeling and dealing.
  16. And used two years setting it all up. If you want to give him the first year as a training period you are still in year 4 of his best plan for stewardship. The one he took two years to craft.
  17. The way it should have gone, yep, game manager vet QB build up the rest of the team so when you do get your young QB he has a strong running game and a good defense to help him out. Teddy was fine for that Collecting failed QBs and throwing them at the wall hoping one sticks while draining your organization of draft capital, this is what that looks like.
  18. There can be something to that with certain people. Making them angry gets juices going in a way that just is…. more.
  19. We Should have been encouraged by staff changes, it looked like a positive. I wonder if Rhule forced Mayfield on them. I can’t see anything left to do but run plays that set junior up to not get his passes swatted away and hand the ball off.
  20. David Tepper. Talk about Rhule talk about Fitterer but we already know he is a meddling owner. I was convinced he was the genius behind the 34 defense that cam3 out of nowhere. We know Rivera coached a great 34 in San Diego but we were not tooled for it and pretty sure Ron would understand that pretty well.
  21. It never stops. Matt Corral is a P.R.O.J.E.C.T. Same old same old, Last time I read this place for a little while it was Will Grier. Oh yeah. Then they played him. Not before enduring weeks of sack fondling from people thinking he was the answer and we were fools for not starting him. Over and over. Kind of like this.
  22. That’s what I thought I was looking at. Cam always was a long strider who didn’t look fast per se but he really has lost a step or two.
  23. I have a feeling the people who think Corral should have been our starter were saying the same things about Grier a few years back.
  24. When you put it that way…. I compared the pursuit of him to the old saw about the star of a losing baseball team that wanted a raise. He was told “son we can finish last without you”. Mayfield wasn’t gonna make us enough better to worry with but when the price came that far down I didn’t get outraged. He does not look good, despite how bad the others may look. Moore had two catches that were big, and one the announcer said Mayfield threw a back shoulder ball. But Moore had to completely alter his direction, it was that far behind him. I just don’t see the accuracy and he is Not stepping into the throws. Hell sounds like Cam to me without the Cam benefits of throwing a 65 yard rope on the money and running people over. Which he could do.
  25. He did have two. The second one was thrown from maybe 6’ above the ground. Looked like he was trying to split two defenders maybe. I hope.
