I'm probably making a huge mistake letting myself have any positivity about this team knowing I'll almost certainly be let down and I'm not a fan of the Canales hire but as I'm ever the optimist, I can't help but think about the best case scenario this year. That best case scenario could actually closely mirror the LA Rams when they hired McVay. If Canales can prove that he is the real deal, I think our roster is in a similar shape to LA's that year he took over. Rams went from 4-12 with rookie 1st overall pick Goff to 11-5 in year 1 with McVay and Goff a pro bowler. Rams D had some scattered talent but outside of Donald no true difference makers. Their O had no clear difference makers except maybe Gurley who was coming off a very poor year. Their OL had a lot of talent but had underperformed before McVay took over (sound familiar??) and yeah adding Whitworth in FA was huge. And they had no 1st round pick just like us this year. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_Los_Angeles_Rams_season https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_Los_Angeles_Rams_season Goff rookie year: Year Team Games Passing Rushing Sacked Fumbles GP GS Record Cmp Att Pct Yds Y/A Lng TD Int Rtg Att Yds Y/A Lng TD Sck SckY Fum Lost 2016 LAR 7 7 0–7 112 205 54.6 1,089 5.3 66 5 7 63.6 8 16 2.0 6 1 26 222 5 2 Bryce rookie year: Year Team Games Passing Rushing Sacks Fumbles GP GS Record Cmp Att Pct Yds Y/A Lng TD Int Rtg Att Yds Avg Lng TD Sck SckY Fum Lost 2023 CAR 16 16 2–14 315 527 59.8 2,877 5.5 48 11 10 73.7 39 253 6.5 26 0 62 477 11 6 Canales absolutely has his work cut out for him just like McVay did but in a best case scenario he could get the most out of Bryce and the OL talent and our D has Brown (not Donald level of course) and enough other decent pieces to where we saw some positives on defense under Evero despite the O putting them in a tough position every single game and despite all the injuries we had. So basically a surprisingly quick turnaround is not impossible and has been done before. We'd need Canales to be as legit as McVay and get the most out of a perceived bust 1st overall QB but it can happen. Flame away

would be nice to see Carroll join him here in some role. after last year's shitshow we need our coaching staff to all be on the same page so I expect much of the staff to have worked with Canales in the past. Will be interesting to see if we keep Evero, hopefully Tepper isn't forcing it on him but if he wants to keep him then I'm all for it.

only hires that would've excited me would be Harbaugh or Carroll

Not a fan and little reason to remain optimistic with Tepper making the decision but I’ll give him and Morgan a chance, really hoping they succeed

Not really, Tannehill was extremely underrated on some really bad Dolphins teams before he tore his acl and went to Tennessee. His stats got a bit better on Vrabel's team (largely because of Henry opening up the offense I'd argue) but he was always very solid before that. 4 straight, the first 2 barely above .500. Then 11 and 12 win seasons where they faceplanted in the playoffs each year followed by 2 pretty terrible losing seasons. I disagree he's a smart in game coach, yes they have been tough and he's a good motivator but that only gets you so far. His schemes and strategy just won't cut it in today's NFL, his teams were never viewed as a legitimate threat to win it all any year. Would I take what they had over what we've had the last several years, yeah absolutely, but I think we should strive for better than that and a HC who can actually lead us to sustained success and a SB win (or multiple). I don't ever see Vrabel doing that and his message and leadership eventually wears thin.
-
Vrabel is very overrated. They had 1 nice cinderella run his 2nd year there riding the high of the energy he brought to the team but he's just not a great coach and he's too old school especially on offense. The Titans had a great roster with a legit 2nd tier franchise QB for a few years and top 3 RB in the game and yet they came up short every year except that 1 mentioned above. I just don't see how he makes any sense for this team right now.
-
He’ll have the Chargers contending with the best QB he’s ever had in the NFL by far but the Chiefs are a serious roadblock for him. Maybe he catches them in an off year in the next few years and can win 1 SB there but I’m not convinced. Either way he was clearly the best HC on the market in a long time and it’s embarrassing that we didn’t even talk to him.

no thanks

Terry really hasn't been a good fit here with the current group of players, as good of a player as he is (and he is very good) I honestly think this is addition by subtraction. He'll fit in much better with the Heat. I'd have liked to have gotten a better pick but who knows maybe we'll be getting a high lottery pick in '28 out of it... And don't get me wrong I love me some scary terry at times, he had some incredible games and moments here. But it made sense for everyone to move on

Canales is an incredibly uninspiring candidate, especially considering the other options available. If it wasn't Tepper making the decision I may have more of an open mind but if we hire him it'll just reinforce my lesser opinion of him. As always I'll watch the team and be hopeful come week 1 but it won't last long if we can't start winning.

You mean not all successful businessmen who just bought a business in a new industry bring in their “trophy” wives to make key business decisions????
-
Maybe Morgan really was the constant dissenter and now he’s clearing out the trash… Probably just hopium
-
No but we do know he’s been assistant GM for a team with the worst results in the league
-
Chiefs outclassed them for sure, as expected. Had a couple dropped picks too. And if Reid would friggin give Pacheco the ball in that 4th quarter it’s even more of a blowout
-
Hahahahahahahhahahahahha fug you Buffalo
-
Allen is one of the luckiest QBs I’ve ever seen. Such a chump
-
What an atrocious fuging call and stupid rule. fug this dumbass league
-
LOL NICE COACHING MCD YOU DUMBASS HAHAHAHAHAHA
-
He’ll probably give them the ball 3 times. Huge choker
-
Baltimore D would absolutely fuging destroy Allen lol
-
I like McD and Beane but the players on this team are a bunch of whiny bitch losers and I hope they never sniff a SB. Very unlikeable
-
What an absolute fuging moron. That play would be enough for me as a Packers fan to fuging hate Love forever. First thing they fuging teach you in pop Warner is not throw across your body down field like that. Even Mahomes and Rodgers would never attempt that type of throw with the crazy things they do. fug the 49ers so hard let’s go Lions knock those fugs out.
-
Andrews will help yeah but I think it’s just obvious Texans are a tier below. Chiefs/Bills are not and I view the winner of that game as the favorite to make the SB, even if they’re playing on the road in Baltimore next week.
-
Yes, the team has just been so fuging bad that everyone remotely involved in football ops needs to be gone. Complete overhaul. Including getting Tepper uninvolved. But if Morgan winds up as GM, dumbass Tepper may be even more involved… we’re in for a rough ride and as embarrassingly bad as this year was I don’t think we’ve hit rock bottom yet unfortunately

I’m not talking about random people on the net. Falcons beat (who are very much reputable) have been on top of their interest in Harbaugh and Belichick for a while now. And both those interviews wound up happening. Not that our beat reporters have any worth and maybe we’re just that tight lipped but there being no hint whatsoever of any interest in those 2 guys makes it more likely than not that we’re just not considering them. Sure we could hear in an hour that we spoke to Harbaugh this morning. But that’s a much longer shot than if there was some reported interest in him before now.
