  1. My biggest concern with Willis, especially at 6, is when you watch the highlights, you watch the all 22, he does not progress through his reads. It is one read and bail if it isn't there. Now was this Liberty's scheme and he simply wasn't asked to? No idea. Is that Liberty's scheme because he is flat out not able to read a defense? No idea. What we do know, is that on film he is a one read QB. I'm looking forward to seeing how he performs in game. Should be pretty telling. He is obviously an incredible athlete and has an absolute cannon for an arm, but if he can't compliment those physical gifts with the rest of the factors it takes to play QB I would stay far away. If we go QB at 6... Im leaning Howell so far.
  2. I'm too lazy to look it up? Do they use the NFL size ball in the senior bowl or is it still the slightly smaller college ball? I know the combine uses the Duke... just curious if the Senior Bowl does as well.
  3. Hes also a one read and bail QB.. Hes probably the only one I dont want to touch at all and would be in total disbelief if we took him at 6 let alone the top half of the 1st. Howell is probably my current favorite but that margin is thin and he's far from a sure thing. I'm looking forward to the senior bowl, combine and pro days to see how things shake out.
  4. Somewhere Matt Rhule is saying "SeE gUyS wE dOnT nEeD a Ol To WiN" Good for the Bengals. Good for the league. Oh and fug Jackson Mahomes too just for good measure.
  5. Lot of talk about no quick fixes in the offense but Aaron Rodgers would literally be a quick fix. For the right price (emphasis on right) and Rhule getting the fug out of his own and putting his own ego (the least believable part of the whole thing) then it doesn't seem that out there. Theres familiarity with McAdoo who was his previous QB coach. A trio of weapons in CMC, Moore and Robby that while each had their own set backs last year are still on paper as good as any 3 skill players in the league when healthy. Then factor in he'd only be making 8 million more than Sam Darnold next year... LOL. Give em a 1st next year (no way I move 6 for a max of 3 years with Rodgers) and a couple mid rounders you could take a LT with 6 or trade down and get the Iowa C and a couple other picks. You'd now have the extra appeal of getting a LT like Armstead and be rocking and rolling next year with a nasty OL, a top 3 QB and enough weapons to prevent the box being stacked for CMC and a system that could utilize him more as a receiver to ease the wear and tear.
  6. Thats probably our worst case scenario 1-5... In that instance I'm taking Pickett or trying to trade down with WFT and taking the Iowa Center. No way we take a corner at 6
  7. Honestly Jimmy G is slinging the ball tonight. Couple bad drops haven't helped. That said absolutely do not want for anything more than like a conditional 4th next year. If they are dead set on a new QB id take a flyer on Trubusky or take Pickett at 6 before I'd trade anymore meaningful assets for an average vet QB
  8. Would be the best QB we've had since Cam took that shot against the Steelers in 2018. Not saying much but thats a fact. Id be down to swap for Darnold and two 6ths with one conditional and the potential to be a 4th in 2023 with incentives hit surrounding playtime. Re-sign to a modest 2 year extension around 20 mil/per with maybe 25 guaranteed and you're a lot closer to competing than you were the day before. I would not sink any more serious capital than that, especially in what is very likely a lame duck year. Unlike Darnold and Teddy Cousins has actually performed with some level of success in this league. Hes not a top 10 guy obviously but with the market for qbs going up every year... if you aren't gonna draft one then the price for average is going to be stupid. Hell, Darnold has the 15th highest QB hit in the league next year...
  9. Solid write up. Just remember that value charts go out the window when a QB is involved. Take a fair offer, then add next years 1s. Thats just the market rate for a QB trade these days.
  10. Don't have to get permission to interview Pep now lol.
  11. 100% agreed. If you're going to miss out on the comp pick go get a proven LT like Terron Armstead. Don't waste it on a middling talent that isn't going to make the team better. (Like losing a 3rd from Bradberry by giving Teddy 20 mil/year when Cam was already on the roster)
  12. Certainly plausible. But signing released olinemen gets you the Irving's and Elfliens of the world. Rolling it into 2023 would put us in the same spot next year with a looming decision on a guy like DJ Moore. If he walks are we gonna lose a comp pick by spending. Id rather they throw money at the proven commodities out there. A potential 3rd comp that we may or may not get isn't worth not fixing the line, at least not in my eyes. We'll see what the team decides to do.
  13. The issue with this is we can't invest cap space into the OL and still net comp picks from Gilmore/Jackson. Theyre going to cancel each other out.
  14. Wouldn't hate Pep Hamilton as a hire. Hes at least called plays in this league before, been a part of developing a young QB and most importantly isn't one of Rhules cronies. Unfortunately that last one is probably why Nixon gets the job.
  15. Any coach fired today (yes even Naggy) would be an upgrade but I would LOVE to get Flores in here.
  16. Not true unfortunately. I'm not gonna post it because, ya know, internet... and while I can't stand him the man does have a family who shouldn't be subjected to some of the craziness out there... Anyways it wasn't hard to find if you know which public records to search. The home is not on the market. Last sold 3/9/2020 for 3.45 million.
  17. I just pointed out the holes on that Defense. I still don't know who on that defense I'd view as a major upgrade on this team except Charles Johnson and even then Burns and Reddick are probably better pass rushers but Johnson was such a complete DE. Seriously who did I omit thats far far better than their current counterpart? Hardy hadn't burst onto the scene yet, Beason was playing OLB but I'd take him in the middle over Carter, Gamble was great but I can't say he's better than Gilmore. James Anderson was JAG and nothing else jumped out at me looking over the roster.
  18. Lot of revisionist history with just how bad Jimmy Clausen was.. 3 TDs in 13 games. And our defense? 28th in points allowed. That defense couldn't stop this years team. Nick Hayden, Tyler Brayton, Dan Connor, Richard Marshall, Charles Godfrey and Sherrod Martin are far and away inferior to our team now. Matt Moore, Stewart and Smitty may cook our present defense tho. And Fox>>>>Rhule
  19. This game really has no immediate impact on our draft position. We're currently 7th in draft order. Lowest we could drop with a win is 8 and thats only if the Giants Beat Chicago. Whats far more likely is Seattle beats Detroit, Chicago beats NYG and we move to 6 regardless of win/loss if my quick SOS math is correct.
  20. History or not he'll have Gilmore shadowing him all game (at least I'm assuming he will) so I don't think he's going to just eat all day. Gronk however will likely feast on whatever lazy zone or LB we try to cover him with.
  21. Offense looked like one with potential to be tops in the league. We would just have one inconsistent quarter. Sam was making reads quick and standing in there taking hits and still delivering strikes. DJ was looking like a problem. Even after our 4th game against Dallas with the back to back picks I thought we still had something. Refs clearly had it out for us and they still battled back and made it a one score game with a chance for the D to get a stop and get the ball back. Then it all unraveled so fast. CMC got hurt, the offense went vanilla, opposing defenses learned we run 3 routes a a game and they could squat on them, WRs forgot how to catch and the Oline turned into what we all knew it would. Sam quickly turned back into Sam sometime during that stretch of games against garbage teams with losing records and then it all comes clear... we are one of those garbage teams too.
  22. We are up to 7. We will most likely end at 6. Chicago and NYG play each other still.
  23. I really hope you're right. I want the Panthers to win first and foremost. I dont care who the coach is. I'll never actively cheer against a coach, well except maybe Payton and Gregg Williams. But I dont think thats gonna happen chief. I just haven't seen enough to build on these first 2 years. 2020 had close losses where the team tried and fought but some unfortunate bounces, bad calls or just pure talent decripency was too much to overcome. This year though? If anything I'd argue we've regressed. The last time we looked like a competent football team that could battle through adversity was week 4 in Dallas. Since then we have seen no adjustments to the offensive play calling, nothing done to give the young guns an opportunity to develop and outside of the upset of the Cards backups fueled by the emotion of Cams returned we have regressed mightily not since week 4, but last season as well. I dont know how you bring him back next year.
  24. Don't forget the immediate whistle for forward progress on Chinn's obvius Forced Fumble.
  25. Dallas game was egregiously bad. I'll take your word for yesterday. First game I've intentionay decided to not watch since 2006.
