AFC West is going to be a great watch for years with Herbert and Mahomes there.

I gotta be honest, if that happens it will almost serve us right. He's made 60/65 (92%) kicks since getting out of Carolina.

Would you be pleased if we hired Byron Leftwich??
BrianS replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
Pass on Leftwich. He hasn't proven anything as a coach. He worked under Arians - twice. That's it. He may one day be a good candidate, but he's not shown anything yet. -
Wow, great insight. Rhule is a bad coach, WE ALL GET IT. That doesn't excuse the officiating. I don't care if Chip Kelly is on the sideline. The officiating needs to be right. It wasn't. It's an issue.

I don't understand why the officiating isn't considered a problem by either John or Billy. Their argument is that the Panthers shouldn't have let it be that close. Ok, fair enough. However, what if both teams had played out of their minds - a great game. Then that call gets made at the end and the Panthers lose. Is it a problem then? Officials need to be held accountable. The rule in question is actually pretty clear, and it wasn't called the way it was written. Had it been called that way, you're faced with the prospect of a rookie kicker making an NFL record field goal. I'll take that. My point here is that the performance of either team should not impact the officiating. Whether a team is performing well or poorly, the officiating should be the same.

Skin color is irrelevant. Results are relevant. Yes, Rhule needs to go. Bienemy is not the answer.

These are not mutually exclusive. Our coaching can suck and the refs can cost us the game. Both can be true.

If you use him effectively early and establish him as a threat, his value as a decoy also increases. Running him up the gut isn't a great way to establish him as as a threat. I don't know why it's so hard to understand or figure out. Get him the ball in space and let him do his thing.

Think Snow will defend his run D after today?
BrianS replied to LinvilleGorge's topic in Carolina Panthers
The fascination with light weight guys who can rush the passer has just gotta stop. Unfortunately, I think we're screwed this season. We doubled down on the idea we don't need to stop the run, and we still can't. -
If Baker goes for 300 yards, 2 TD and no INT's all this will be forgotten. In all fairness, weather isn't looking great for a big passing game.

Panthers official unofficial depth chart is now out !!!
BrianS replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I guess with Bozeman coming off an injury I see why for the moment you list Elf as 1st team. I don't like it. -
Kinda like another fairly successful QB around these parts . . .

As soon as it's at their new team facility you should expect it.

Luke Kuechly. By far our best game day coach, despite the fact he was on the field.

I interpret this differently. I interpret the exchange as: REPORTER: "Go F* them up Baker" (colorful well wishes for start of season) BAKER: "I will" (thanks) That's probably all it was, based on what I've seen. Then, someone decided then needed more followers or whatever and made more of it.
-
Expect to see us go down below the 53 so we can pick up some depth at DE off waivers. We've cut nearly all of our depth there.
-
Yes please. I liked Mond coming out. He was a little bit of a system QB at A&M, but he's got a live arm.
-
I believe that the responders probably conflated dislike and distrust in the context of that question. I suspect that the real answer is that none of them trust the other.
-
That's a negative, Baker is 2 inches taller. Also: Our "backup" QB throws half as many TD's and twice the INT's (as percentages) as Sam Darnold. I gotta believe we can do better. Our PUNTER can probably do better tbh.

I don't hate Rhule. I also don't think he's a good coach. The two aren't mutually exclusive. To me, it's a simple question: If fired here, would he be hired elsewhere in the NFL as a head coach? My answer is no, he would not. I'm sure he'd get another mid-tier college job rather quickly and probably do quite well. The hate should be reserved for a front office that isn't constructed and organized in a manner conducive to success. It seems that no one there has the power to pull the plug on the coaching regime. That falls squarely on the owner.
