  1. This would be my worst case scenario as we would likely end up....right back in the same place next offseason
  2. Mac Jones reminds me of a less athletic Andy Dalton Hard pass
  3. Probably because they are offering their first rounder. Good for them. Let's all pray we don't get into a bidding war.
  4. But the Huddle assured me there was no way 4 QBs could be taken by our pick
  5. As I have stated in multiple threads Stafford is pretty much my last choice for QB next year. However, not drafting 3rd overall really puts us in a bind with potentially 4 QBs going before our pick. My ideal scenario si that we stay at 8 and Lance falls to us, however that doesn't seem likely. Trading for Watson is my top choice and my next top choice is trading up for Wilson/Fields/Lance Further if you're going to disagree with my OP that's fine but all I did was unburden us of Teddy's contract and give up a third and future fourth rounder. That's hardly mortgaging our future.
  6. You mean because we can't re-sign them? I agree Stafford only makes sense if the price is right AND they agree to take Teddy B to mentor whoever they draft at 7
  7. you don't need to sell me that Teddy was bad lol, but LT must be addressed
  8. The question is, is Stafford good enough to win a Superbowl. He is. But that would be contingent on us having an offensive line that is good enough to keep him upright. Our weapons aren't the issue (For like the first time in history since the Smitty/Moose days). Which is why it would be imperative to retain 8 overall. To draft our future LT. I can't sign off on a Stafford trade that includes number 8 because it would be devoting too many resources to him and also depleting Stafford of his best chance to win here.
  9. Here is a relatively quick way to "win now" with Stafford. It would be contingent on us tradding Teddy plus no more than a second rounder this year, ideally a third (which likely won't happen at all but fug it let's play") Stafford for Teddy and 3rd/future 4th round pick FA Re-sign Moton Wait on Curtis Samuel to test FA (I think a lot of WR#1 money is going to dry up) the Panthers might still be able to re-sign him. Esp if Samuel wants to hit FA again in a few seasons. A two year deal like Robby signed might just work Cut KK/Weatherly Re-sign one of the guards from this year, whichever is cheaper. Offer Okung a one year prove it deal, take it or leave it. Draft 1- Rashawn Slater or Sewell (one will likely be there at our pick and both appear to be future franchise LTs) 2- BPA out of CB/OG 4- BPA out of CB/OG/UT BPA rest of the way Depending on how the draft goes sign a veteran CB after to a one year prove it deal Start Jermaine Carter next to Shaq. Stafford comes into a loaded offense. Defense will be improved. Profit.
  10. One can hope because they are literally stuck with Matt Ryan (barring a trade- seriously look up his contract the dead money is absolutely insane) for the next two seasons at minimum. I can buy this argument. I'm preparing myself for them to take a QB because that would be bad for the Panthers but I can see a scenario where they try to run it back with Matt Ryan for a few more years before resetting entirely.
  11. I agree, though I think Cam was a much more surefire prospect. I just think if you're drafting this high you have to swing for the fences and Lance is that.
  12. Which has literally nothing to do with them losing the last game like the original post alluded too. Sure he had a power struggle over coordinators, he also alienated their franchise QB. The Eagles chose Wentz. But Peterson was not fired because they lost that last football game
  13. I really disagree. Maybe I'm just being a pessimist but the NYJ are either taking a QB or trading with another team who is going to draft one Atlanta just overhauled their entire front office and coaching staff. They're going to want "their guy". Esp if internally they believe they won't be picking this high again in awhile. Detroit is now pretty much a guarantee to take a QB. So Wilson, Fields, Lane all gone. The worst case scenario for the Panthers is the above and we fall in love with Mac fuging Jones and take him at 8
  14. You fixed the o-line in a single draft! But no way is Slater available that late. He will likely be a top 10 pick
  15. I agree with this assessment. Fans will have Fields ranked higher because of the helmet but Lance is going to have NFL scouts drooling with his potential. Everyone wants the next Pat Mahomes.
  16. If Lance is on the board I'm sprinting to the podium. But it's HIGHLY unlikely any of the top 4 QBs make it to 8 now. Lance is an absolute no brainer in that position he has talent off the charts and we still have Teddy to be a crash test dummy for a year while Lance develops. Next year we could use our first rounder on LT. Rounds 2-4 this year on CB and OG/C. If all 4 QBs are gone it's a much harder scenario. I take Slater or Sewell at 8 if both are there. If both are gone I agree the best move is to trade down and try to nab the VT OT
  17. These aren't really comparable as we had no idea who good/bad we were in week 3. At Washington we very much knew that we were in contention for a top 3 pick.
  18. OP is right, it really can't be overstated how much that single win fuged us in terms of draft capital. Granted we totally should have won at Minnesota so maybe it was just the football gods evening things out
  19. Again my order of preference is: 1- Watson 2- Trade up for Zach Wilson (will likely have to be with NYJ) 3- Trade up for Trey Lance (probably with Miami) 4- Trade up for Justin Fields (probably with Miami) 5- Stafford on a reasonable deal (i.e. a second round pick is the max I would give) 6-Stay put at 8 and draft a LT, trade Teddy away to one of these teams jonesing for a QB and wait till next year. we VERY much could be looking at option 6. Before you light your torches this is not what I want but if we can't do 1-5 we don't really have a choice.
