I have to say… I liked what I saw out of Christensen
Luciu5 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
He did well overall, but there were a few snaps were he was straight beat, like just a speed bump. PJ got the ball out quickly on those plays, but would definitely count as pressures allowed and could have been sacks if PJ held on another second. -
Three receiver drops fwiw. I'd say, a lot of promise there, but not ready to start yet. Soon though, imo.

It was a beautiful throw, but was only 45 air yards give or take. He's the guy I would have wanted if he fell to us though. That 80 yard bomb comment up there was misleading lol.

I wonder if Marshall will be WR1 tomorrow? If so... Actually, kinda wonder if they'll play all the rookies tomorrow?
-
I read today he recently went 11 of 24 in practice with two interceptions. In 7 drives their offense scored 3 points. I'm assuming this is 11 on 11 evaluations. Somehow, I think their defense isn't THAT good. I feel bad for Wilson. He could have used a year to sit. He's gonna being seeing ghosts soon.

Matt Rhule after SECOND Joint Practice with the Colts
Luciu5 replied to SBBlue's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wouldn't be surprised to not see a single 1st string guy out there if it can be helped. Tomorrow's game is about bottom of the roster guys getting on tape. 5 guys are getting fired this week and Sam Darnold has 0 chance of being one of them so there is 0 reason for him to play. The guys playing tomorrow are playing to keep their job. It's nice we get to watch bottom of the roster evaluation games. That's what they are. They aren't practice for 1st stringers, not these first two games anyways. -
What the Indianapolis Colts media is saying about the joint practice

Their backup QB's (that's all they have right now) torched us in red zone. Over and over again. Overall, I think they were very, very good stat-wise. I think no ints. -
Matt Rhule after 1st Joint Practice with the Colts

Chinn did the offense's job for them as much as a single LB could. -
The closest thing to a must-win game in years?
Luciu5 replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't think it's must win, but if we lose it kinda creates a narrative where the Panthers are the dumpster fire of the year and that would stick until proven otherwise. Fans would be calling for heads to roll. Ultimately it depends on how the team responds to an L. If it destroys morale, then yes it's must win. I think if we lose though it answers right away if we are a playoff contender or not. -
2020 and 2021 Draft Picks to the PS

Can't you still protect players on the PS this year like last year? -
Ranking the Panthers Rookies(TheAthletic)
Luciu5 replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
He doesn't face other players though. All he does is look between his legs and throw the ball backwards, right? I get that in a punting situation being able to tackle is nice, but let's face it, JJ isn't tackling anyone. Fletcher doesn't need any improvement there to beat out Jansen. The cadence etc that @thefuzz mentioned makes some sense though I guess. -

Is NFL long snapping that different from college? Doesn't he literally have one job? Just not sure how someone who has been doing this for years is not ready. -
Which one is it? Did the CB break it up or did the receiver have butter hands?

You should do this stuff yourself before you post. You wouldn't look as dumb. 11/32 https://www.pff.com/news/ranking-the-2012-offensive-lines

Madden 22 ranks panthers second worst team in the league
Luciu5 replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
A couple years back, they retooled the ratings. I'm assuming they are still using a similar rating system. They dialed back the ratings quite a bit, especially during the draft. A first round pick outside the top 10 is awesome if 72 OVR, especially if they are faster to level up. Highest player in the draft is probably 80 at best. Most of the draft is going to be 60's and lower. Your oline starters will be in the 70's unless you have some above average guys. Guards with 68 overall starting isn't uncommon. -
It's certainly possible, but honestly it's a lot that has to come together; perfect storm if you will. To me, I think it comes down to Darnold playing better than he has in the past and the defense getting stops on 3rd down better than last year. I think the defense is going to be very good this year. I'm not sold on Darnold...at all.

Madden 22 ranks panthers second worst team in the league

Overall, offense, and defense ratings. Still laughable. They are seriously underrating the defense. Depending on Darnold, the offense might be right. 73 Overall 76 Offense 71 Defense -
Carolina Panthers Training Camp - Thoughts and musings

Has YGM done anything? Have not seen him mentioned really. Any gauge on our run defense? -
Charles Johnson on cutting Ibe. Has a point!
Luciu5 replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
The video doesn't really look that bad, but I'm trusting the team made the right decision and the hit was egregious enough to warrant the punishment. As a fan, I'm not going to second guess this decision for a bottom of the roster guy, but the DB coach clearly had a better view than this video and was on Ibe's ass about the hit before he even realized the extent of the potential injury to Kirkwood. -
Is Terrace Marshall the rookie most likely to succeed?
Luciu5 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't think Marshall gets enough touches and yards to be OROY with DJ and Robbie ahead of him. I just don't think a WR has a chance if they aren't WR1/2. I would be pleasantly shocked if Horn is DROY. CB isn't usually a position that wins it, but this year could be different. Looking at his competition....Barmore? Paye? Surtain? Idk who will emerge as the season progresses but there isn't an obvious favorite like last year. So there's a chance I guess. -
That's one sure fire way to make sure everyone clicks.

I'm really not getting why Thomas is still working with the 1's. Is he the only TE working with starters?
-
Was he that good, or was our offense just that bad yesterday?

You really had a Kyle Allen avatar?

Panthers Training Camp Thoughts and Musings - Monday Edition
Luciu5 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'd say left tackle is always a need until we can go into training camp knowing who is starting without question. My gut says, if that isn't Moton, then we don't have that guy yet.
