They were almost close enough where it wouldn't have been a hail Mary. In fact, one more quick out to the sideline that picks up 5-10 yards, and its a decent shot at 1, and maybe two passes. In fact, you could throw one to the end zone, and on the second one, if nothing is open in the end zone, you could throw it to the 5 yard line and hope they can run it in. IMO, it was an extremely high risk play, which is what it proved to be.

It says he did great on a college team loaded with NFL talent, and for one year worked under one of the better coaches in the game. That is about all it says.

If we don't pick a qb, its almost a guarantee that the next qb that gets picked after we pick will be a hall of fame qb.

If we fix the offensive line, and give Darnold more time to throw, he might set the franchise record for interceptions next year. Most of his picks came when he had time to throw. On the flip side, he might have fewer fumbles.

Seems like a dumb firing. They got better as the season went along. And the rookie qb looked good. But Texas is a dysfunctional franchise, perhaps even more than we are.

The only way this team is a playoff team next year with Cam (or Sam or PJ) at qb is if we build a 2015 Denver style defense that is so good that we never have to throw the ball more than 10 yards.

In general, college coaches without significant NFL experience fail when they move to the NFL. Based on that, while I hoped for better, we are about where I thought we would be at this point.

Sam Darnold is definitely not a mid level qb.
