sometimes you know the source well enough to take it at face value.

except leaks like this kind of thing happens a lot. i'm not going to say that there were times that some picks in previous years were leaked in certain forums here that not everyone gets access to, but it might have happened.

sorry. i just went back and read again what you wrote and understood what you were saying and you are right as well. someone can be a light and brighten up a room. someone can also be a bad apple that spreads rot to the rest of the barrel. that is something that definitely needs to be watched for and guarded against.

yes. that's why i left off "good" in there. the culture you find yourself in weighs heavily into who you become. you can break out of it to become different, but that is a huge fight. being around successful people makes it easier to be successful. being around people who constantly struggles will likely mean that you struggle as well.

yes. like most everything else in life, there are no guarantees. it depends on what nixon makes of the opportunity he has. but it also has a lot of truth to it. for better or worse, culture shapes character. what that shape actually becomes depends largely on the one whose character it is.

i think you're right. there are a lot who shouldn't have been drafted as early as they were. i think there were also a lot of others who just fell into the wrong situation. i just feel like these guys are not just saying all the right things, they are saying the right things because they are doing the right things. they've got it figured out and what they don't have figured out, they are on their way to figuring it out. i honestly can't think of a better situation for Darnold to be in to help him get it figured out and reach his potential. like i've said before, i don't think there are any guarantees. i do think that they will be putting everything into it. i also don't think that they are putting themselves into a hole that they can't climb out of with him. It's a safe bet in that he didn't cost too much and it won't cost too much to move on from him and move on to the next one. it's a safe bet, but it could net a pretty nice sized purse.

i have to admit to being a bit pissed off by all this. could you imagine what it would have been like if Cam had had access to all this a few years ago? when he was still young and in his developmental phase? continuity ftl. we should have moved on from hurney, rivera, and esp. shula long ago...and not gone after some relic like turner.

2 parts involved in overcoming. 1) mindset of the person trying to overcome (am i broken or am i growing?) 2) your environment (the people you are surrounded by and the people in your ear) i think Sammy has it good on both of those. People who have been watching him and talking to him talk about just how resilient and positive he is. He also has the best coaching he could have asked for in coming from that dumpster fire in New York/Jersey.

and i know it may seem like it, but brady is not immortal.

the question is, how long are they going to be able to keep that aging band together and just how effective will they be as time goes on?

personally, i hope that the bucs do everything exactly the same this year. easier to figure out and stop.
