Anecdotal Blind Cam Hate Story

well for one Teddy F'd up his pro-day which is supposed to be his showcase.

But yeah if Manziel was black I doubt there would be all these commentators saying how they like his "edge".

Yeah, that caused a lot of people to go back & nitpick his games. (Granted there were some genuine concerns. )

Having said that, I would've loved to seen the reaction if Cam had walked onto the draft stage making the "money" sign.

People's heads would have exploded.

One thing I've learned along the way...Fans of other teams generally don't know squat about your team.

(heck, some of them barely know anything about the team they say they cheer for)

And to be fair, it's true of many of us as well.  Ask the average Panther fan to break down the strengths and weaknesses of, say, Jake Locker or Christian Ponder.  Most probably couldn't go much beyond "I think he's good" or "I think he sucks".

Those among us who are such rabid football fans that we want to know all there is to know about whomever we can are relatively rare.  Most don't care enough to go beyond a 'scratch the surface' opinion which usually just consists of what they've heard said on Sportscenter.

In short, they just don't care as much as you do.

By all means, educate them, but don't let it bother you.

There is a lot of ignorance from fans throughout the NFL in regards to Cam. Some of it is just blind hatred because Auburn kicked their favorite teams ass in college, and some of it is just plain racism and stereotypes regarding black quarterbacks, can't sugar coat it, it's the truth.

This x1000.

"Derp derp I like the Panthers but fug Cam! He beat South Carolina in the SEC championship!" - my friend,

Seriously, people need to either let it go or quit calling themselves Panthers fans.  I'm a Duke fan but didn't have any problem pulling for any UNC guys once the Bobcats drafted them.

So, just thought I would share this...

Yesterday at my job, a co-worker and I were talking the draft and our teams... He's a huge Bears fan that was born and raised in the Carolinas. So, we're talking football and I tell him that I just don't like Jay Cutler and thought the Bears should've given McCown a smaller deal and draft a QB and move on from him. He agreed they overpaid and said he wish they wouldn't have given him that huge extension, BUT said if he had hit the market he would've been the best QB available. He then says he understands though, that most people think Cutler isn't very good and says he would have him around #15 himself, ranking-wise.

So, we get around to talking about my team, and I'm talking about how good we have it going forward because of Cam and Luke on each side of the ball and that we just need to surround them with great talent for the future. He then interjects that Cam isn't the type of QB that can win a Superbowl. I ask why? He says, because, "he doesn't have an arm." He then says, "Yeah, he would be in my bottom 15."

I'm new at the job, and the guy seems cool otherwise, so I do my best not to blow my fuging top, but I quickly say, "I have to disagree. He has a rocket launcher for an arm. Are you saying that he can't throw, or he prefers to run instead of throw when it comes down to it?" I was completely flabbergasted... Who the fug that knows anything about football says he doesn't have an arm? LOL. Even with all the hate in the draft process, there was never a doubt about his ability... it's all-world. So, I had no idea where this was coming from.

So, I then begin to give reasons as to why he CAN throw, which still to me is asinine, lol, and all the while his face is turning bright red... It's like Cam personally came to his house after he poured his bowl of Cracklin' Oats and pissed all in them. He interrupts, "We'll just have to agree to disagree." I always feel I have to have the last word, but I could sense he was heated for no apparent reason aside from Cam hate, so I continue to defend my QB (*T.O. face*), and he says, "But, would you feel that way if he wasn't on your team."

I say, "Absolutely... I look at it like this... If he was on a division rival, would I want to have to play him twice a year? Hell no. I don't want to have to play him at all." He quickly segued that into how the Bears have to play Aaron Rodgers twice a year...

LOL.

Anyway, cool story bro. Just thought I would share, as I was unaware there were people that still thought they could pass off personal hate as fact. "NO ARM"???? At least give me the old "intangibles" argument or something that can't be easily disproven by watching one throw. Unbelievable.

You guys won't believe this but I had a near identical conversation with a my co worker who is, wait for it, HUGE BEARS FAN!!!. I mean, I got nothing against the bears but this poo is insane!

Hendoo punched Hansbrough in the face, but I still cheer like mad when he or McBob make a great play for the (ahem) Hornets.

Who are these Bobcats you speak of?

Haha, I guess I called them the Bobcats because that's who they were last time they drafted someone from UNC. But you're right, I guess I should say Hornets from here on out.b

Before the draft, I hated him for that whole scandal and the fact that he kicked my Gamecocks ass in the SEC Championship game and thought he would be an average QB in the NFL and I wanted us to nab Patrick Peterson.

As soon as he finished his first game, I realized my hate was stupid and now he's my 2nd favorite professional athlete behind D Wade.
