The value of a top GM......this man knows his football

Laugh at his nipple shorts and his Boston drawl all you want, but this guy is the real deal. Between managing our cap mess and getting value out of every decision so far (Kug may be the exception, nobody's perfect)this guy has done in a couple of years what the previous guy couldn't do in ten. Some may cry that he didn't pick this guy or that guy,but all his picks are a piece of his strategy to make the Panthers a force to be reckoned with for years to come. No I am not kissing his ass, just stating the facts as I see them.He takes no crap and does what has to be done.We are lucky to have him.

I remember last year, he made a comment about GMs thinking we'd make trades with them (it was something along those lines).  He laughed and pretty much told the league to fug off.  New guy's running the show and he's not getting pushed around.

Sometimes trading is a good thing. He needs to start thinking about trading down sometimes or atleast give teams some time to call about a trade. Sheesh quick on the selections he is.

I agree. Trades can be beneficial, whether it's trading up or down. I think blinders may be on a bit for Gettleman during the draft. "I want this player and fug you all".

It seems more like the guy we are targeting and hoping falls to us keeps landing in our lap.  If the guy you've wanted is there at your pick, you take him.  If he isn't or could fall to ur next pick then you think about trading.

it's a little early to be calling him a top gm

Agreed, part of being a top GM in this league is being able to keep your team competitive year in and year out.

Dave hasn't been in the position long enough to demonstrate that yet.

However, all signs indicate he is well on his way.

To trade down requires a trading partner that wants to trade up.

And if there is a trading partner that wants to trade up, that trading partner has to make it worth your while to move down.

Y'all seem to be under the impression that Gettleman is turning down all these multiple trade offers to trade down that are too good to be true.

    • The defense is 28 out of 32 in salary cap allocation for 2025. We have a ton of resources tied up in the offense including the highest paid OL in the league multiple 1st round WR's and multiple recent draft picks across the offense at TE and RB and we have two 1000 yard backs. Bryce and company couldn't get past Tyler Shough and his crew in 2 games. That's all there is to it. You can spin it and put the entire onus on the defense to your heart's desire it doesn't change the fact that this is an OFFENSIVE team now. If you want to argue that we should revert back to a defensive identity as we have been in the past which has brought us success then I will agree with you on that. But as it stands the onus is on the offense because that is where we have invested through the nose. Dave Canales and Bryce Young need to do a hell of a lot better than they have against the rebuilding Saints who without us should only have 2 wins this season.
    • Bryce is not trending up. He is the same QB he has always been. Bottom of the league in most categories.  If Canales thinks he can build a contender with Bryce then he is a bigger idiot then I thought.  Offense next year will have the same issues and be just as inconsistent as it was this year.  We have seen Bryce’a ceiling and it is 175 yards a game and that is not a QB you keep around as your starter. That is barely a backup.
    • Looks like Darnold should have had at least 3 picks. That'll get ugly in the playoffs eventually. Can't deny his physical talent though. You either have that or you don't. Mike Macdonald is a legit coach.
