The Incomparable Pete Prisco's Grades

Recommended Posts

Everyone here knows how much PP loves us.

His grades are as follows:

C - why not Lee?

D - why DE?

C - why not OT?

C - no reason

C - no reason

I don't have a link as I used the CBS app for iPhone.

Love Ol Pete, no concept of value or acceptance that the GM's didn't agree 100% with his board or thoughts.

Josh Katsowitz seems to agree, lol.

If you can't see the value in the Ealy pick then you're just an idiot.

there were some decent tackles available at 60, so that's probably why we've been given such poo grades.

i'm not saying it was a bad pick, only time will tell and i haven't exactly followed ealy, but i wouldn't call anyone an idiot for disagreeing with the pick.

we're going to get Cs and Ds across the board for this draft so be ready for that

The reasons being we didn't address areas of need when players that could were still on the board. Like it or not, many guys had Lee above Benjamin on their boards, and some had tackles that were available ahead of Ealy.

I hope to god these players work out for us, but at first glance, after looking at a bunch of mocks all offseason, our draft does not look as good on paper as others, especially considering we haven't addressed the OT position. I'm really trusting in Gettleman and believing in his talent evaluation and value of the players we have chosen, because what he has done so far is different than what many others expected.

not trying to change the subject, but this is the way to think about everything with DG. This is just his second offseason in complete control. No way I will start freaking out on everything that is done and said until I start to see major f*k ups year after year that screw up the team long term.

Hurney has been gone 2 offseasons and we still have at least 2 more to go before we get outta his sh*t.

There really weren't any OTs that were even close to Ealy's value.  I wanted Turner, but he wasn't a first round talent like most thought Ealy was.  All the Moses hype was just empty media driven BS.  He was never worth a first or a second.  He was what people thought he was at the end of the college season, a third rounder.

I don't see how anyone can grade the 2014 draft now.  It will take 2-3 years before we know if the 2014 draft was a success.  In 2001, Seifart used a 3-round pick on an 'under-sized punt returner', and everyone questioned this.  Nobody, and I mean nobody ever could have predicted that Steve Smith would become the best WR and all-time Panther WR in the its history.  Sometimes you just have to wait and see how these draft picks will work out.  And in reverse, thought Jeff Otah would be the starting RT for many years, and we all know how that turned out.  These so-called talking head experts don't know everything.  Patience.

    • The lack of discipline has seriously been our downfall the last month. Seems like we just went off course this last month and Lee won't address it. You can't just live and die by the 3 when you can attack the paint and at worst draw a foul
    • Great season regardless of what happens. From starting out 4-14 to ending 44-38 is incredible progress and future is bright from here. I do think we can beat the Heat and then win on the road against either Orlando or Philly assuming Embiid doesn’t miraculously return sooner. But if not, a higher draft pick is nice too
    • I know a DT that's asking for a trade: 🤔 maybe a home discount can be worked out. Dan Morgan could create up to $80 million in space through restructures of stars like Derrick Brown, Jaycee Horn, or Taylor Moton. They could also include players like Tershawn Wharton ($18.6M cap hit) in the trade to balance the salaries. Carolina Receives: DT  Dexter Lawrence II New York Receives: 2026 2nd Round Pick (No. 51 Overall): A premium Day 2 selection that fits the for  Lawrence  after his 0.5-sack season in 2025. WR  Xavier Legette : A young, high-upside receiver who provides the playmaking depth HC John Harbaugh needs for his offense. 2026 4th Round Pick: Immediate mid-round value. 2027 4th Round Pick (via MIN): Future capital acquired in the  Adam Thielen  trade.  ----- Stone Forsythe* (another young player as a potential trade option)provides immediate offensive line retooling for HC John Harbaugh.    John Harbaugh's history in Baltimore proves he values draft volume over individual superstars.    Just my 2cents
